The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

[Wishing you all folks, here, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...!] Here, below, is a collection of 20 pictures, I took on my round-trip flight today, from/to NZCH (Christchurch Airport), as I flew around the beautiful NZ (South Island) in a clockwise pattern, overflying a few critical (mountainous) points of interest (see below). For this 787-10, I've chosen (my newly acquired) Air New Zealand's distinctive "Black and White ferns" livery. This flight, with takeoff from (NZCH) Rwy 20 and touchdown back on (NZCH) Rwy 02 was LNAV/VNAV controlled, and my (trapezoidal looking) Route (please see ND screen, shot #3), has only the following 3 intermediate (Custom)…

The Alps Mountain ranges are (geographically) distributed primarily among several countries as follows: Austria (29%), Italy (27%), France (21%), and Switzerland (13%). For non-natives of Europe, as I am, these are the 4 countries, that probably come foremost to mind when we think of the Alps, and, personally speaking, not sure why, but the Swiss Alps, come to my mind first. Anyway, if one adds up the numbers above, it comes to 90%. The rest 10% are shared by Germany, Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Monaco, with Germany taking the major share of it with 6%. This German part of the Alps lies exclusively in the state of Bavaria. It's therefore also commonly called the Bavarian …

Here is a most delightful and soothing flight I took today in my (MSFS) virtual world... (who needs mountains...🙂...) ...from South Wales to Southwest England, across some of the most spectacular scenery I've seen in the SIM. As soon as I took off, the beautiful coastlines of Bristol Channel greeted me and held my interest, until I flew inland towards Cardiff. Then I crossed the Bristol Channel (and the "Wales-England" border) at the magnificent Severn Estuary (mouth of the Severn) heading further east towards the famous British (harbor) city of Bristol. I flew overhead of both the airports of EGFF (Cardiff) and (EGGD) Bristol (see images below). Throughout my trip, …

Every time I've flown out of KATL I've notice that lump in the distance, and wondered what it was. Turns out to be called Stone Mountain (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Mountain,_Georgia) So I took a little detour and went to take a peek (rather than a peak - see what I did there?) We'll fly Delta, of course, Had to go back and catch that last one separately, so colours etc might not match.

One of my favourite stretches of scenery since the P3D days has been the run up from Palm Springs towards LA. I was doing this again recently in MSFS, and remembered the dinosaur feature (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabazon_Dinosaurs) from the P3D days (I think it was part of one of the Orbx packages, KPSP or maybe SoCal), so went to take a closer look. Very disappointing in MSFS, basically just bad AI rendering. So I went back and dug out the screenshots I'd taken back in 3d, and thought I'd post a few comparison pics here. I would so love to see these re-done for MSFS. So out from KPSP, then turn round to head up the valley pretty much overhead now. …

Got the new OMDB and I think it's great. Lot's of great little details everywhere. On my initial trip round with the drone I thought the terminal interiors weren't modelled but it seems that just one has been done (brilliantly, I might add) and I guess that might be to help with the performance. Didn't notice any issues in that regard myself. What with this and the new OMDU, and with the original Orbx cityscape taking up the slack, this is now a very special environment. So, a few shots around the airport. All 4k ultra as usual.

Just a couple. Picked up the CS 777-300 in their sale today. Cost me about 8 GBP and change. Money well spent. A fine looking thing. Grabbed a dozen or so liveries from .to and took off from EHRD (also on sale today - MS). I'll pretty much certainly buy PMDG's 777 when it arrives, but this is extremely acceptable for my tastes, and plenty adequate for now.

[On my Xbox system, due to the possibility of overloading the resources (though I've had absolutely no adverse issues, so far, in terms of my user-experience relating to performance), I've tended to avoid large updates from MSFS that are optional in nature. Instead, I've normally stuck with only those updates and installations that are mandatory. Today, however, I noticed a free Update in the Xbox Marketplace for Canada and the Canadian Rockies and opted to install this relatively (massive) Update.] This is because, though, I'm rather familiar, both via RW visits and in the SIM, with the U.S. segments of the Rocky Mountains, I've never got to explore the Rockies nort…

How do you confront pirates? The best way is with a ship that was used against piracy, not in the South Sea though, but partly in the North Sea. Its name: Wappen von Hamburg. She was commissioned by the Hamburg Admiralty and the merchant community in 1668 and was tasked with escorting convoys of ships to Hamburg's overseas trading partners and protecting them from enemy attacks or raids by corsairs or pirates. After eleven successful convoy voyages, the ship was the victim of an on-board fire and exploded in the port of Cádiz, Spain, in 1683. As so often with these somewhat unusual objects, it was developed many years ago for FSX, I ported it for my own use to MSFS …

Wanted to have a look at the Orbx mesh and see if it had improved things. took a flight up over the Lake District and surrounds, and it does look a fair bit sharper to my eyes. Headed off from EGNM in one of my favourite tubes, the LVFR A319. I probably prefer the look of their 318 but I like the livery and internals on this, so . . . This where we start A nice clean and tidy airport, as you can see by the very full waste bins! (I love this sort of detail) Ready for the off Ahh, the joys of a private jet Away we go Heading in to Glasgow now And there we are at the end of th…

NASA 834, an F-14 Navy Tomcat, was used at Dryden in 1986 and 1987 in a program known as the Variable-Sweep Transition Flight Experiment (VSTFE). This program explored laminar flow on variable sweep aircraft at high subsonic speeds. A few airlines' logos stay in memory with you, from first sight, since encountered either in RW or in our (virtual) SIM. Though I've never travelled with Austrian Airlines, the unmistakable (stylized) Red Arrow on the fuselage of its a/c has always remained fresh with me, since the earliest days of my SIM. The iconic logo, patterned after the color scheme of the Austrian national flag, symbolizes an airplane taking off into the sky. In our SIMs, we might also recall flying the Austrian Airlines' DC-90 and MD-80 series airplanes...among its other Classic a/c... Regarding Austrian's current fleet, it has adopted an interesting strategy...Airbus A320 and A321 (narrow-bo…
