Once, during a visit to the Boeing Factory, in Everett, Washington, as I was standing outside in the courtyard, I caught sight of several Southwest planes lifting off from a nearby Runway which belongs to the Seattle Paine Field International Airport (KPAE), also known as just Paine Field. Connecting the Boeing plant, there is a "road" (or "bridge") which is actually a taxi-lane, to the Paine Field's "Boeing Ramp" where final preparations are completed before the aircraft are flown off to wherever they're going (e.g., the SWA planes could be heading to the airline's headquarters, located on the grounds of Dallas Love field, in Dallas). The Paine Field Airport also plays a…

(Following up on my last A310 post) ...This plane surely needs lot of practice, at least for this virtual aviator, to master it for fault-free operation and navigation. This is no docile PMDG 737-600...🙂...Nonetheless, here, below, please find 13 pictures of the A310-300, in the (nostalgic) colors of the Orbit Airlines, on my (first) complete flight from Los Angeles (Rwy 24R) to San Francisco (Rwy 28R), just after takeoff to just before touchdown. This (initiating) flight was quite a learning (and rewarding) experience especially because of the atypical avionics (after a long time, I came across a [PROF]/Profile button on the MCP...reminded me a bit of the PMDG MD-1…

Just started on this nice Airbus a/c that comes default with MSFS2020...still way to go and lots to learn... The SimCheck A300B4 was a favorite of mine in FSX days, though, I don't recall that there was a payware A310 variant available in FSX. This here (an A310-300) appears a well-rendered and complex enough version. The finish of the textures seems to be a little off...compared to the Asobo/PMDG standards, but still, I'm glad to have it here and I hope to fly it more often... Here are 5 images. Hope you enjoy these few pictures of this Airbus Classic. Thanks for viewing.

For curiosity, I was checking the Wiki for PMDG, a bit today. About 20 years ago, in 2003, they had released their first 737 SIM (on FS9), the (737-600/737-700) pair, setting the trend, for decades to come, for authenticity and fidelity for (desktop simulation), of the venerable Boeing 737. Some of us experienced ones (using a more polite term, here, for those ones...including yours truly...🙂...), who have doggedly stuck around with the hobby to the present day, might remember that momentous occasion. It feels strange that after 20 years, I am back to flying the same 737-600, in MSFS2020/Xbox, from the same maker, and today, my exhilaration from flying this variant was no…

OK, bit of a catchy Title...🙂..., so, here, up front, is the explanation. First of all, I picked up today a Livery Pack to go with my Xbox (PMDG) 737-600 (if you wish, please see my earlier post with my first experience and flight with the PMDG 736 for Xbox/MSFS2020). Second, SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) was the launch customer for the -600 variant, having acquired nearly half of the total number built, for its fleet. So, here is, at least, one well-respected airline that liked (just as yours truly did...🙂...) this supposedly forgotten (and un-popular) a/c variant...for one or more (good) reasons of its own...and operated it for more than two decades... The "-600" is …

Here is a U.S. state tucked away in the (farthest) northeastern-most part of the country, probably not getting its (full) share of due in terms of natural beauty. There are some places you visit that feel so enchanting, leaving such a permanent impression...that you might've said to yourself, "Here is a place I would like to visit again...someday...". That was true for me of my one visit to this state and specifically of a few days' stay around its Acadia National Park on the Atlantic coast. Maine has also mountains, that seem isolated and lonely...such mountains have always inspired in me a sense of melancholy wonder. The mountains of Maine may not be as tall as the (fea…

KLM is known as the oldest operating airline in the world (its founding date, in 1919, was just ahead of the equally legendary (Latin American airline) Avianca by 2 months). It's important to note that KLM is currently the oldest operating airline in the world, still operating under its original name, but as a merged entity of the Air France-KLM group. Prior to the 2004 Merger, it was oldest operating airline in the world, operating under its original name, and also as an independent entity. This well-respected airline, over 100 years old now, has seen the full spectrum of technological evolution in its fleet, since its origin, starting with the humble beginning with…

Being a Midwesterner, though, I've travelled to the major cities on the West Coast many times, my time spent outside, so to speak, under the open sky, to enjoy the beautiful geographical features of California has been minimal, except for one occasion. During one of the trips to San Francisco, having rented a vehicle in the KSFO Terminal, I had headed straight out to the (famous) U.S. Highway 1, with the objective of going as far south as I could go...time permitting. I now recall that I'd made it down to Santa Barbara, about 325 miles south along the California coastlines. The Pacific Coast Highway, U.S. Highway 1, skirts the gorgeous coastline, winding past (seemi…

I had promised you some more port-overs, so here we go again. All planes that you see here are former FS9 freeware models that have been upgraded by various talented developers to FSX standard. I have used the Legacy Converter to make them function in MSFS. As always, the biggest problem was the VC. FS9 VC standards are just not acceptable anymore for me. So where needed, I have used VCs from different planes (pay- and freeware) that I have in my virtual hangar. These planes are now fully functional in MSFS, which means they start properly from the runway, engines and gears work as they should and it is really a joy to fly these beauties in this new environment. I d…

The child in me wanted a different toy, so I reached into my good old box and dug out this: The FSX Vickers Viscount 800 from Just Flight. I don't think we'll ever see her in MSFS It's shortly after 8:00 a.m. and we want to fly from my home base in Münster to Tromsoe. We should be able to do this in just over 4 hours with our old bird. We fly with real weather. It used to be said about Münster: either it rains or the church bells ring. Today it is raining. My bells will soon be the wonderfully whirring Rolls-Royce Dart engines Things look a lot friendlier at 18,000 feet Over the northern tip of Denmark We ha…

The Silk Road that had flourished, thousands of years ago, as a means of connecting the West to the East for trading, is a fascinating piece of human history. Just as Aviation is about moving from one place to another, it was also about travel.... over nearly 5,000 miles, say, from Rome (Italy) to Beijing (China). The path traversed the most inhospitable and rugged regions, existing on this Earth, through the highest mountains and the driest deserts. In the ancient times, the overland journey might take one full year...with Camels and Caravans. For comparison, I was checking now a bit...an Air China B787-9, having departed Rome, has just landed in Beijing, after a non-sto…

Today I had a nice time looking at all the details of Flightbeam's Minneapolis scenery. I don't have much to say about it other than the fact that I love it! But perhaps I'm biased, since I'm from the area...and when I was young (when the airport did not have RY 17/35), my dad and grandpa would frequently drive me up the dirt road (the road to the west of 30L, now paved - Post Rd) to look at all the planes departing and landing. I have fond memories of that and I've been flying out of here for most of my travels ever since. When I look at a potential addon purchase I enjoy seeing nice screenshots.... so here are some unique views with different lighting - hope you…

The Corsica Island, in the Mediterranean Sea, is known for its warm climate, spectacular mountains, and stunningly beautiful coastlines. It has two other historical significances: It was the birthplace of the French historical icon, Napoleon Bonaparte. “On Corsica I was given life, and with that life I was also given a fierce love for this my ill-starred homeland and fierce desire for her independence..." It was also the island from where my aviation hero (and author) Antoine de Saint-Exupery, on July 31, 1944, during the morning hours (similar to the morning of my images below), took off into the skies (the same skies where I'm roaming here today) on wh…
