November 24, 20232 yr (Following up on my last A310 post) ...This plane surely needs lot of practice, at least for this virtual aviator, to master it for fault-free operation and navigation. This is no docile PMDG 737-600...🙂...Nonetheless, here, below, please find 13 pictures of the A310-300, in the (nostalgic) colors of the Orbit Airlines, on my (first) complete flight from Los Angeles (Rwy 24R) to San Francisco (Rwy 28R), just after takeoff to just before touchdown. This (initiating) flight was quite a learning (and rewarding) experience especially because of the atypical avionics (after a long time, I came across a [PROF]/Profile button on the MCP...reminded me a bit of the PMDG MD-11), but I need to sort out some wrinkles with this a/c still... [Side Note: FedEx must have immensely liked this Airbus, because it (historically) operated 70 examples of this variant as freighters. The (iconic) Cargo Operator retired its last A310-300F, just 3 years ago...in 2020...Impressive longevity and performance for a plane that had flown for the first time, 41 years ago...in 1982...] Thanks for viewing...! Good weekend...!
November 25, 20232 yr Beautiful set, by the way how does this plane perform in Xbox ? I like the plane but get some anoying stutters here and there so i assume this bird isn't realy optimised for the Sim. November 25, 20232 yr Author John, Will, pmplayer: Thank you for the comments...as always...🙂...! It was good fun but needs more time to make it perfect...  8 hours ago, pmplayer said: Beautiful set, by the way how does this plane perform in Xbox ? Otherwise, my flight would grind to a halt...... Here in the Xbox (it being a closed system), apparently everything has been optimized to the best display and resolution for my HDR TV, so, I (gladly) don't intend to do anything with it. No, I've not seen any Stutters, at all, so far, with this plane, my issues, are with its avionics (rather my lack of understanding of it). Another issue, I found, is that the Autopilots modes get disrupted when I use my Xbox controller for External Camera Views for screenshots...need to also figure that out...but the (flight-time) framerates are smooth for sure... And, as you know, any Updates will reach your PC probably faster than I would get via Xbox Marketplace...🙂...but I will be looking forward to it, if it improves things for this (nice) a/c... Cheers...!
November 25, 20232 yr It's a beautiful bird, P_7878 and I think the Orbit color scheme looks really good on it. I'm not sure, whether I remember correctly, but didn't FedEx even opt to replace the avionics of their A310 fleet with modern ones, so they could extend their service life? Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

A beautiful (and highly capable...🙂...) bird it is, indeed. Yes, I believe the Cargo Giant had done some upgrades for the Flight Management System and cockpit avionics etc. to both its A300-600 and A310-300 fleets ...
