In my previous Cargolux 748 (freighter) post, I'd remarked that I'd chosen "Düsseldorf" Airport as the destination of that (fictional) flight, because it reminded me of my one transit through EDDL, from a decade or so ago. That was the only time I was routed by LH, on a smaller a/c, an A320 it was, from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt, before boarding the LH 747-8I for the trans-Atlantic hop. The year was likely 2012 (winter), I'm told (today) by my better-half, since I personally do not recall the year at all...🙂...That however makes sense, because LH had introduced the 748I into service on June 1, 2012. In fact, during that flight, I'd (initially) failed to even notice until af…

With the Do X we fly from Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance to Geneva By looking at this shot, I remember what someone once said, when he complained about flying cattle class: “when I was young, I used to travel, today I’m being shipped“ 🙂🙂 The Hindenburg airship Passing over Zürich Above Lake Geneva, we have just passed Montreux We slowly fly along the southern portion of Lake Geneva towards Évian-les-Bains. Time for another cup of tea And finally we have reached Geneva

Buoyed a bit by my recent (virtual) experience and adventure with the Brahmaputra River of the high Himalayas, I come back, here, to a River long on my mind...for a similar experiment. There's a proverb that goes like this, "You can't step in the same river twice", meaning that, a river, besides being a critical component of our landscape and scenery, also stands for continuous (and ever changing) motion and flow. Just as the river flows non-stop, time flows and life flows...One can surely repeat the same things in life, but the feelings and thoughts are different every time...not better or worse, just different... Brahmaputra River had originated from the Angsi Glac…

(Today I was reading a bit about Cargolux) ...Luxembourg may be a small country in Europe (with its capital city also called Luxembourg), but it is home to Europe's largest cargo airline, Cargolux. The airline is an exclusively 747 based carrier, with 15 744s and 14 748s in its current fleet. Significantly, Cargolux was the launch customer for the 747-8 variant, and was also the first to receive a 747-8 (a 747-8F freighter) in Oct. 2011. On the other hand, the first 747-8I (passenger version) would be delivered to launch customer Lufthansa, 7 months later, in May 2012. So, here is short flight I did today with the (MSFS/Asobo) 747-8 in the attractive Cargolux colors,…

After fixing anti-aliasing, dark panels, and color correction, my satisfaction with the new XP12 is increasing. Today the simulator amazed me, I was doing a normal scheduled flight between Quito (SEQM) and Jorg (SPJC), and during the route I was surrounded by many cloud formations and thunderstorms (I was flying in real weather). Well... XP12 recreated fantastic clouds! ... I had never seen clouds so well shaped and above all varied in design. Thunderstorms for example. I expected to see "square thunderstorms" (we know that Xp12 sometimes creates ugly, square clouds). None of this was generated. The clouds were all beautiful, the storms had a very convincing "…

Just grabbed the Stearman. I used to have a nice Hawker Fury back in FSX/P3D and it had converted ok to MSFS originally, but it stopped working after one or other of the SUs. This Stearman has a lot of the same look and feel of that though, so is a welcome addition (although I'd still love the Hawker back - "Hawker heroes" I think it was, a set of about five aircraft) Sedona seemed like the sort of place to check it out Usual thing, all 4k converted from HDR, look best on a big screen.

Today, I installed another (optional and overdue) update for U.S., which highlighted the Oregon region, and specifically Eugene (OR), so, I wished to test this scenery in my Xbox system. I'm a bit familiar (via virtual explorations) with the U.S. west coast but mostly north of Portland (OR) up to Seattle (WA) and beyond, while Eugene is located about 100 miles directly south of Portland. So, here, I have lifted off Eugene's (KEUG) airport in southeasterly direction, first, towards the Willamette River and Willamette Valley, and then headed northward over and across the magnificent Cascade Range of Mountains, and finally flown south on the plains of Oregon, back to Eugene …

During one of my posts, here, on the (historical) topic of "Flying the Hump" operation (which refers to the critical airlift of supplies from India to China, in 1942, across the eastern Himalayan Range), I'd come across the Brahmaputra River in Assam Valley of India, which was the western terminus of the above operation. Brahmaputra River may not be as well-known as other major rivers of the world, but it is the 9th largest river in the world, and what makes it special is that it originates from the glaciers near the very high altitude (glacial) Manasarovar Lake region, on the northern side of the Himalayas at a height of nearly 18,000 ft. From its source, blocked ah…

In the last week, I've gone into "total memory recall" of some flights I made early in my simming "career" by a recent photo essay provided by @P_7878 regarding the PNW area. I still recall the very detailed Tongass Fjords add-on created by Holger Sandmann that created an awesome looking (at the time!) scenery for this geographical area in earlier versions of the sim. Back in the day, one of my favourite, go-to flights (especially if I was short on time!) was a quick hop from Wrangell, AK (PAWG) to Bronson Creek (CAB5)...many fond memories of hand flying the MAAM Sim R4D following the river valleys of the Stikine and Iskut, in (often barely legal) VFR conditions…

Today, I was reading an article about KLM, and, of course, we know that KLM is the oldest operating airline in the world, still operating under its original name... (though it's currently part of the joint "Air France - KLM" Group). Been founded in Oct. 1919, 7 months after, KLM did its (first) official (inaugural) flight in May 1920. Though that was not the first ever flight by an airline, it was so, by an airline that has survived to this day after 104 years of continuous operation, not a small feat. My only 2 flights with KLM (one in an MD-11 and another in a B747-400), I recall to this day. So, today, I wished to learn a bit more about KLM's very first flight that had…

Hi simmers 😃 Since the A300-600 has been flying so much over the last few days, I thought we should get the A310-300 out of the hangar again - thought and done.. Allitalia.. Air Berlin.. If you want to see the shots in the best resolution then please click on the picture !! PS: Would be fine if all the great fixes from the A300-600 would go over to the A310-300 aswell but therefor Asobo/MS should order them from inibuilds. From the inibuilds Forum from a Moderator : This is not our decision to make. The A310 is not our aircraft, it is Microsofts. If yo…
