Has anyone any experience of this? My current set up has a projector about 11 feet from a 6 feet wide screen. The problem is that I have a lot of area visible around the screen of my surroundings.I can't move the projector any further back because I just don't have the space. So, what if i put a rear projection screen quite near to my windshields and bounce the image off a mirror ( I know if I rear project directly the image will be too small with the distance I have available form the front)?Do I need an enormous mirror to do this? How close do i need to get the projector to the mirror? How far do I need the screen from the mirror?Do I have any alternatives to buying a real…

Looks like betainnovations.com is gone, the site just says it's "closed" and there's just a download link for Keyboard Studio .exe, but everything else is gone.*** Does someone have a copy of the Plasma MiniME stuff? I sadly did not archive it myself, and it is not even stored in www.archive.org.. :/ Please share yours. ***It would be such a shame to have it go to waste, we have one around and it works so really well..Any idea what happened? Greeting AllI'm "trying" to build a radio stack for my sim using an application specific implementation of FSBus. I've made what I'll call a "mother-board" with a COMM III, FSKEY3 and FSLED "all-in-one". This should give me everything I need for 2 NAV/COM's, Transponder, ADF and Audio panel.I'm running the Windows version of FSBus and so far I've been successful in programming the encoder's through the FSKEY3 to change the NAV/COM frequencies in FS2002. My problem arises when I try to flash the PIC's for the display's!!!! They "seem" to flash OK , as I can read the PIC after flashing and the first number comes back as 3005 (I am using CID#5 for the COM 1 display and the…

Well that's depends. My cats have chewed through a large number of my cables, and pretty much all my displays, and buttons and led's have been affected.lots of desoldering, and resoldering to do.Not a happy chappy.tomorrow I was going to take it all to a flight simmers break up bbq, but now that nothing really works, there is no point.

Information leading to the capture and safe recovery of a set of Beechcraft A65 80 Queenair sub panel light plates. After searching for 6 months for a set for my cockpit I have had no success.I've bought a POH and parts catalogue but there isn't enough detail in them to help me have a set manufactured.Even some detailed pics of the panels would help meSomeone out there must know where there is a derelict Queenair.Http://simflight.fotopic.net

Hi all,If I want to have the external view on another PC, what can I use? I know about wideview but it takes a powerfull PC to run that. The reason I want to know that, is because I have an old laptop and I dismantled the LCD to put it on a overhead projector. I could use this to project the external view but this laptop isn't powerfull.Any ideas??Thanks

Hi all,I've been wanting to build something to add to the realism of my sim for some time, and now I have amassed 4 GoFlight modules, a CH Yoke and Throttle quadrant and a cobbled together rudder pedal set up I am ready to get going. My problem is that I fly lots of different aircraft, and my PC is not dedicated to FS (Sarah uses it for work, etc). So I had settled on making a centre console style thing, to house the GoFLight and throttle. Placed by the chair, it could easily be pushed under the desk when not in use. Then I got to thinking of the old machine in my cellar, and how it could be used. I'm thinking of building a small monitor in to the top of the console, with…

Hi everyone! My first post here, and I'm glad I found this forum.Anyways, I'm building my first 'multi-sim' cockpit, and I'm planning on using a TV w/fresnel lense for my outside view, and I have an old 15" monitor I'd like to use for the instrument display, for now. Unfortunately, the 15" monitor is not being cooperative.I'm running a P4 2.8Ghz system with 512M RAM. My main video card is an ATI all-in-wonder 9600, which can either support 2 monitors, or a single TV. I tried running my Gateway VX700 17" monitor with the older "Manufactured for Kanaka model #FM370" 15" monitor (built OCT 1993) but the 15" one will only display the initial loading screens (The ones that loo…

Probably weirdes question ever asked on this forum but I was just thinking about it. What if tomorrow an axident happens and I die .. what would I want to happen to my sim?Anyone has though of this maybe lugubrious scenario ?

Hello everybody,Since a couple of days I have two projectors ( see the DIY projector thread ).I now want to use these two projectors to make not only the front view , but also leftfront and rightfront. As a Wideview Team member my current 6 monitor setup shows the views completely to the left and right. And being able to look beside you makes Fs much more real. However I wanted the outside view(s) to be larger, so now I will start experimenting with projectors.I was thinking about the following setups :1 Two projection screens , lightly curved a the sides. The two projectors connected to one pc and with one expanded view ( Nview ).Advantage : you really have a wide view ; th…

So, we did some upgrading for our Cessna sim lately, it's still underway though.. Got two additional collimated mirror modules donated from Finnair training center.. Much thanks for them. One side mirror is bolted on.. there's been quite an effort by Jan to construct the support structure..http://www.mik.fi/gallery/albums/simu-teli..._0452.sized.jpg"Soon, soon we can fly again :)" http://www.mik.fi/gallery/albums/simu-teli..._0460.sized.jpgTweaking..http://www.mik.fi/gallery/albums/simu-teli..._0463.sized.jpgOnce we get two more large (25 inch+) monitors from somewhere, this will be one kick butt visual system.. and there's going to be some serious adjustment to make it wo…

Hello everybody,Like in a thread below I also have taken a look at :http://www4.tomshardware.com/howto/20041113/index.htmlSounds very reasonable.I think that if you use 2 or 3 projectors with a maximum screen of 4-5 ft each it could really be something. Each modern card has the possibility to drive 2 monitors and have good fps so why not try this.I see it as a replacement for large tft tv's. Happy flying,

Here are the fighter style rudder pedals I designed and built for my T-38 simpit. Although they are built to resemble the ones found in a T-38 they should work for all fighters, with the exception of the F-16.All I have left to do is redesign the adjustable feature. The three

Hi all...I am using 2 CH yokes for my King air sim...I use the 2 sets of throttle, mix and props for my throttle quadrant for the KA twin and it works fine.I have set the yokes up for pilot and co-pilot and have been messing around trying to mechanically link the two based on great ideas from this forum.I have a brain wave but not sure if it will work...here's my question:1) The captains CH yoke works fine and is hooked into FS2004 by USB2) The co-pilots yoke I cannot use as is because it goes hay-wire when its kooked into PC3) Could I simply wire the co-pilots pitch/roll pots into the captains pitch/roll potentiometers ?...like in series4) When the co-pilot takes over he…

Here's a recent pic of my B737 project..... oops... did I say that? I mean my A340 project. BTW. Still waiting for my copy of Computer Pilot Magazine, so I can view my B737 project. For some strange reason, and I'm sure PC Aviator is not to blame, but it's just not getting to me.....Curiosity is killing me:(http://www.a340project.us/db3/00283/a340pr...4-KCOS-Dusk.JPG

I needed to know if anyone here is running a Matrox Parhelia with an Athlon 64? I ask because I just got my A64 yesterday with a MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard. I assembled the system with the Parhelia and fired it up. I got a long beep then 2 short beeps from the case but no image on the monitors. I can hear Windows starting through the speakers, but no picture. I removed the Parhelia and installed my old GeForce 4 4600ti and it worked as advertised. Is anyone else running this combination of processor, motherboard and video card? I have to wonder if it has something to do with the Nvidia Nforce chipset of the motherboard. Maybe I'll have to try the Via chipset. Any t…

Hi all...I've got just a few questions, I plan to do an A320 simulator with several monitors. Can I use PSS A320 or Wilco A320 as a platform? Should I use another one? Thanks in advanceRegards...

For those of you cockpit builders who may have missed my post in the screenshot forum, here it is again here :There is a full-size Mirage F1CZ simulator which was developed in South Africa. The fuselage was taken from an old South African Air Force aircraft which crashed after a combat mission in the '80's, leaving the pilot parylised. This simulator is not 100% accurate in instrumentation, but is nevertheless VERY impressive & I cannot adequately describe the feeling once in the cockpit! It is awesome!!All instruments, switches, controls are fully functional & work as in a real aircraft. Also, the head-up display works in exactly the same way as the real aircraft …

For those who celebrate Thanksgiving and even those who do not:)HAPPY THANKSGIVING.I'm thankfully for the ability to make my dream come true, "to build a Flight Sim Cockpit". And am particularly thankful to the folks like all of you that have contributed to my project. If it wasn't for your imagination, to be able to develop products and have know how of making different parts for a sim..... AND of all... sharing it. It would not of been possible for me to do what I have done today.THANK YOU.

Hi folks.Today I went to get 2 17" monitors I got with the matrox parhelia (had the parhelia already but since i payed just a few weeks ago I still had to pick up the rest of the deal). And guess what .. I am very happy with the result :)Only problems I see:1 of the 3 monitors has bad colors compared to the other 2the borders between the monitors .. when you turn .. the line of the horizon is broken because the displays should be idealy touching eachoter but they are not so ... that's kinda sad.when flying level things look super though :D
