There is a new release of www.dc3experience.com !Now featuring a large (50+ pages) online article about simulator cockpit development based on the Microsoft Flight Simulator (www.dc3experience.com/building).With respect to simulator cockpit development the objective of this article is to give an overview. As a starter examples are given of simulator cockpits to give a feeling of what this is all about. Followed by a basic introduction to a simulator cockpit architecture. Following this introduction, in sequential order the various possible components of a simulator cockpit are discussed. In order to give a broader impression of the simulator cockpit 'world' an overview of…

I have been reading this forum for weeks now trying to decided the best way to go about starting my simpit. I have decided on FSBUS, becuase it looks fairly easy to build, and there is tons of support for it.I have a question reguarding rotary encoders. According to several posts I have read, a phase shifted rotary encoder can be decoded by FSUIPC if you just have it hooked up to joystick buttons, without a REDec. This is a great feature since I am trying to keep my budget low, and cannot afford enough rotary pulse switches to do the job I want. My question is, can a switch be assigned to emulate a joystick button in the FSBUS router? If so, am I correct in assuming…

Hi AllI want to have a rotary output operate one key output in a CW direction and another in CCW direction....is this possible?Have experimented with a rotary which works fine for changing OBS setting for example (ie the rotary part is working), and can make it operate one key output in both directions but could not see how to make it operate another key in the reverse direction. I want to use it to change decision height and other similar functions in PIC767 which operate with a key command...one key to increase selection, another to decrease. At the moment I can only manage one or the other.Any help appreciated

Hi everybody,I am very sade to have to announce that my producers were not able to raise the financing of the full lenght documentary about our hobby I was planning since almost one year. I really decided to give it up. The most encounterer argument from the broadcaster is that the subject focuses on a too small part of their potential public. Some also stated that they already have some footage about it. Those footages are most often some small reportings videos made by journalists far from what I wanted to do as a filmmaker. But such reportings are superficial, very cheap, fast done and that's what the TV station are interested in. We could also never reach the right pe…

Hi guys.Between all the time I spend for school projects this year and the student-club activities I find some time now & then to do some work for the sim.As posted in a thread before I made a hardware electronic cirquit for the gear-leds. Now that is working great & perfect, I am looking for a new way to make the annunciator capsules to put the leds in.I searched the topics here and I found 2 things:hot-glue & extruded plastics.First off I will work with a printed paper with black background & white letters. As tests show this works great. Then I bought car window shader foil. Using 2 layers of that works fine as well. Now either I need to find extrude…

When I first resumed flying lessons a while ago, the one area where I consistantly had difficulty was taxiing. Since it hurt too much to pay $100+ an hour to drive around the airport tarmac I put quite a lot of effort into tweaking the toe brake axes, travel and springs on my sims pedals to get as real a feeling as possible, and spent a lot of pracice time just taxiing around my home airfield in my bedroom. It certainly helped, and I eventually got a lot better at taxiing. Today, while taxiing across the flight line, a Citation on the parallel taxiway turned 90' right into me. No way was just stopping going to avoid a collision, but I was able to make a 90' of my own and …

Hi i had a very bad experience, when i tryed to buy some switches for my FMC from Conrad's Online Shop. After i passed all the steps and completed my order (giving all my Visa's numbers), i received after some hours an email with the notice that my order canceled, because it was below 50 euros and i had two options a)to pay 21,5 euros for shiping, or 2) to increase the order over 50 euros.I asked them: if i was making an order over 50 euros, the shipping was free of charge??I received another email saying that: no, it's not free shipping, even the order is over 50 euros and they can not accept payment via CREDIT Card (!!!!!!!!) for the first orders (!!!!!!?????).So they wa…

Hallo to allI was just studying the docs on the Fsstepper. In the pdf doc I read that R1 an R2 are 0,5?But AFAIK there are no resistors of 0,5 ohm, at least I can not find them in my electronics catalog (conrad/reichelt)The diode used is a BYW 53. That does not exist in both catalogs too.Are these typing errors? For those interested I just put an excel spreadsheet on my site with all the used components on the FSBUS pcb's. Together with all the catalog numbers from Conrad and from Reichelt.Regards Norbert Boschhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch

I just discovered a very stupid thing, that i don't know why, hasn't been publicized before...It's that FSBUS supports rotary encoders!Yeah! That's true.Almost any encoder works with fsbus!Best results are obtained with encoders that have an equal number of pulses and detents (unlike mine), but the others do work anyway.Enjoy
