Some time ago somebody was talking about the use of touch screens in the pit.Well I went & blew some cash to see if it would work & it sure does, I am very impressed with the results. Here is some info that I posted on my progress reports back at simhardware." So I have now got hold of a Lilliput 7" High res Touch screen which I plan to use as an FMC in the pit, I am currently driving that display with a second video card in the PC No. 1 (The FS PC) So the FS PC has 3 displays attached to it. I am most impressed with the lilliput display, very easy to read, touch screen works like a charm, but they aren't cheap, I landed it here from Hong Kong through ebay for $379…

Our friend Alberto Beaterio has already released the software ON-737 (beta 1) for X-Plane.In this initial version you can use the PFD, ND, EICAS, MCP and the radios, each one acting with the specific flight profile of the Boeing 737-800.Very soon the version for MSFS, and modules including systems, overhead, instructor and FMC. You can download from www.opencockpits.com

All,I thought I'd float this question here before I spend endless hours trying to figure out if it is possible to do ;)I am palying the the idea of using the Aeroworx B200 as the model for my cockpit... it simulates all of the annunciators, bleed air, electrical, fuel and cabin press systems (sort of). They used the FS9 SDK to builkd their panels. I have asked them for a list of the variables they used (is that the right question?).My quesion is - is it possible to use FSINTERROGATE to find the values they are using for these differnet systems in order to set switches and annunciaotr lamps using FSBUS? I have played around with it a little and can clearly see the standar…

Hi all..I have downloaded the latest FSBUS but I am getting a delay when I uses my switches...for example...if I want to turn my Battery Switch on.I flip switch to ON...the switch doesn't move in FS9...I move switch down (OFF) then it goes ON but my switch is in the OFF position in my cockpit. Also happens with my landing gear switch...I take off...raise my gear and nothing happens..I flip my gear switch back down and the gear goes UP !!Not sure what is going on but if anyone can help I would certainly appreciate it ?Many thanks...JB

Hello,For my MCP, I use a standard card Photon and I possede several types of coders; of mark ELMA of the E27-0-21151al11 type: what corresponds has knitters, therefore has 3 exits without electronic circuit of reading of dephasage. I possede also of the coders achetes at GOTRONIC and which resemble has those of FDS, but which them necessitent a circuit of decodage. Certain manufacturers of cockpit encounter problems of response time with the coders. If one uses coders necessitant a chart of decodage or you one to find this type of card little?thank you for your assistancecordiallyJean Luc

Hi Everybody,At last I've managed to solve the Rudder Trim and Aileron Trim. These are the lines that should be added to xxFS.INI file."Aileron Trim",001,0,0x2EB0, DOUBLE,0,RW+,10,571,1,"Rudder Trim",002,0,0x2EC0, DOUBLE,0,RW+,10,571,1,By the help of those lines, you could use the Aileron Trim and Rudder Trim with simple 12 Stage rotary.

http://users.skynet.be/plipke/Switch.jpgThis is what I plan to make. I'll make a prototype mold and put 2 component plastic in it so that I obtain 1 first switch-hat. Then make a silicone mold of that one and produce 9 other switch-hats. Then make a silicone mold of the 10 switch-hats so that I can produce 10 at a time. The idea is to make a switch-hat which can hold a LED and on which you put a paper printed index and a squared bit of thin plastic (plexi or other). Then just slip those in your panel from the rear. Behind the panel comes a board in which will be mounted cheep switches and push buttons (preferably same shape). The "switch-hats" will rest against the r…

Hey everyone,Im slowly getting prepared to build an as realistic as possible a340-5/600 cockpit, I have about another 5-6 months of research to do before i start building tho. I was curious if there are any sim builders in the metro Boston area, or in the greater new england area for that matter, who wouldnt mind being used as a bit of a mentor. Im sure I'll be requiring lots of help :)My goals for this project:1. As close to reality a340 cockpit as possible, everything except full motion.2. Once flyable, open it up to local AVSIM/VATSIM/etc enthusiasts3. Eventually host something like the World Flight OZ. 4. Map and write a from desktop to cockpit flying tutorial. 5. Com…

This is realllllly a basic question, but one I'd like to ask:Im in the planning stages of my overhead panel for my crj simhttp://jtw737.mysimflight.com(I know the url says 737; bad planning)I built my current configuration out of tempered hardboard. What Im wondering is, those of you who have built overhead panels from scratch, what sort of materials have you used for the faceplates??Im planning on building each component separately, i.e. hydraulic switches, light switches, etc., and wire them up using Phidgets hardwared.I guess I could use tempered hardboard and paint it, but I was wondering if there was another material Ive overlooked during my brainstorming sessions...t…

Hello, Thanks to everyones support with my previous posting I was able to understand some of the basic questions for starting my 737NG project. I am awaiting the arrival of my MIP from FDS. Meanwhile Im trying to figure out the best interfacing method (hardware). Ive heard alot about EPIC hardware and IOCards. Could someone help me (or direct me to a good tutorial prefferably aimed at beginners) understand whats involved in the interfacing process and or IOCards and EPIC? Also the basic methods of wiring switches etc. for these 2 systems? Thanks for the support

Thought I'd post a couple of pictures to update everyone on my progress since my last picture post. Thanks to everyone who gave advice on different aspects.Don't have a pedestal to put it in so I've made a box which also holds all the FSBus boards etc.Backlighting is through dimming 5k blue leds via a PWM unit. (diagram of which is posted here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...2&topic_page=3) . (Diagram thanks to Gary at Chemelec for his input and designing the PWM for me http://www3.telus.net/chemelec/Projects/PWM/PWM.htm)Next project is a homemade cnc machine to make a nice job of the panels. (I know it's not the right forum, but I know there are sim bui…

Hi,For building cockpits, joysticks and quadrants I want to present a cheap USB controller called MJoy that you can easily build yourself. It has 6 axis (may have 8 maximum total in one device), 1 hat and 24 buttons. All the information is on my project homepage:http://www.mindaugas.com/projects/MJoy/The initial project article is:http://www.mindaugas.com/projects/MJoy/Article.phpIt should be enough to explain how to build and program your controller. It also has brief explanation how to build your custom software as the project includes the source code too.Newer software version 1.2 with autocalibration is available in Versions section.Comments and questions are welcome.

Ok, I've looked into this a bit and I came up with the following questions:1- it seems this is a work in progress still ? how far is it developed and if I'm only interested in having PHCC for LCDs, how long +/- would it still take before I can get started on this ?2- i noticed linux/unix/(win) on the table ... i'm not familiar with linux, will it be hard to get this thing running on WinXP ?3- for having it to work on USB, should I wait till the USB interface gets ready ? Do I understand right that the mobo is connected to the PC via an extra card .. and this card has different versions, 1 for usb, 1 for parallel, 1 for serial ?4- how to get hold of the PCB (often return…

Pffffffffffffffffff *sigh*I got stuck with my sim. Ok I am working on the annunciators & stuff but other than that .. my sim isn't working as I want it to.Thing is that I removed the Photon interface to start testing with LCD's and haven't found time to do that since, thus my sim isn't working at all (just the joystick controls work, that's it).And I'm not sure what to do next. Either I try to find time and do start to mess with LCD's, or I just go back to the segment led thing.I just wish that there was an interface out there that would allow like .. 20 LCD's or so to be wired to USB or something. Would be super awesome. Even if it costs me $ 100 .. would save a…
