Ok, since I am not an electrician, could I get some input on how to approach plugging in all of the computers and monitors I will have when I get my pit built. (did a search, couldnt find anything). Dont want to start popping fuses or having to open up the spillway at the local dam to generate more electricity when I power up!So here is what I would probably be looking at:2 computers3-5 monitors1 stereo amplifier2-3 cooling fans for the consoleSo looking at needing a minimum of 8 plug ins, bit the wall only has 2.So do you guys just plug in a couple of heavy duty power strips to get the extra plugs, or do you start tearing down sheetrock and have the local electrician p…

Hi,as you can see in the subject, it's an old story, but it still hearts :-(The request is about my Front External View without panels and gauges. So, as i don't have yet a projector or i can't build one myself, i was looking for a second time, if i can use my dual-head ATI Radeon 9600 XT for extend my external view.I connected a second monitor in the DVI converter and i made an "extended" desktop to the second monitor. But when i maximize the Fs window it use only one monitor. When the Fs is not maximized and i drag the window-edges to make it bigger in both monitors, the external view doesn't cover all the new size window, but i have a black area in one side, just like th…

Ok, thanks to the wonderful support of iwik my fskey and fsdisplay cards both work, and I'm tickled pink.Next part of the project is making up the mcp for my BAE.But so far I'm having a terrible time trying to cut square holes :)Now, I'm using MDF and I have a jigsaw, and a drill and some straight lines :)But I can't understand how to make square - or rectangle holes.Would love a step by step, or even a url that can explain it better

Hi I want to build a good quality (with hydraulic dampers etc) connected yoke for 777. Current commercial offerings are way too expensive. Instead, my plan is to come up with a good design and get it built at the local machine shop at a decent price.I understand and can handle inteface details (with pots etc) but i don't know where to start when it comes to mechanical designs and I appreciate any suggestions/ideas.Also, I am wondering (and hoping) whether it is possible for someone who have built this hardware before to lead a project(similar to other open-source projects?) with a goal to come up with good designs and parts list details (similar to FSBUS or IOCards proje…

Hello,My name is Humphrey Cheung and I am a full-time editor for www.tomshardware.com. I am looking for someone who has the craziest, most insane flight simulator setup in Southern California. I would like to do an interview and take a few pics for an article.Interview will be along the lines ofHow did you build it?How long did it take? What inspired you? What does your wife think of it?Humphrey [email protected]

A familiar phrase to the Star Trek fans...Well, seeing that the heat is up a bit in the PIC767 forum regarding the upcomming LevelD 767, I started another thread asking for a clear answer of the matter of hardware support.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=26250&page=If you feel you can apply some pressure as well, I think now it's a good time.RegardsGeorge DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Im in the starting process of building my own cockpit and I have already ordered my mcp from DAKENSKYS, I have a pretty good idea on how I want my cockpit to look like.My problem is the interface part of the sim, im starting with the mcp and I will build around that, I would like all major switches to work on the mcp.1. FsBus I have heard a lot about and I even visited the web sight, and the question I have is do they just provide you with schematics to build boards with, or can you buy fully built boards.2. I have also heard a lot about the epic card and im wanting to know a little feed back on that card, I really don

Hello,I've read a lot in the forum, but didn't find a solution for my problem. Hope, someybody can help me.I'm using FsBUS and my AP for the 737 is ready. But the speed, altitude, course etc. from the panel of the PMDG is not the same as on my AP, it doesnt't switch. With the standard panel of the 737 it works fine.I've raed a lot about "FSInterrogate" etc. but I don'nt understand it. Please help me!Many thanks, Thorsten

The following questions are directed to those who have actually built and are currently using their flight decks on a weekly basis with little major work remaining left to complete their projects. Of course, others are encouraged to respond if they have a working knowledge of any of the answers. The answers to these questions will vary greatly I

Hi Folks,It seems like the only decent flight model for a B737NG and FS2004 is PMDG's. Is that so?What if some of us don't wanna go with PMDG, 'cause we don't want to buy no'more, or because we don't wanna be limited trying to interface the flight model and our sim's hardware?I'm seeking for a useable Boeing 737-700/800 flight model that I can use in my sim. I have found some models for FS2002, but none made specifically for FS2004. Anyone knows of any? Thanks all for your input.

Hi,i was looking to find information, about a low cost projector for the forward external view for my Fs2004.I found many many different products, LCD or DLP technology and with different specs. So, in conclusion, the low cost projectors, are 800X600 analysis and i can find also LCD or DLP.I have some questions, if anybody knows to help me:1) 800X600 is good acceptable for external view?2) When a projector is offered for 800X600, can support higher analysis (1024x768) or not? This reduce the image quality? 3) How many Ansi Lumens are acceptable for an interior room projection?4) DLP technology give better Contrast, is true? Better contrast is needed for the black color, s…

Hi All,Just a note to let you know that I have begun implementation of pmSystems functions in FSCockpit.A preliminary build is available for current users. It contains a goodly amount of pmSystems functionality including most electric and Engine start functions, lights, APU and others.I hope to complete implementation shortly.Regards,Scott L. I have built all of my FSBUS boards. redesigned the display boards for different types and sizes of 7 segment displays. The help I am looking for is in the area of switches, etc. I am going to begin populating the MCP from WWW.Dakenskys.com next week. Does anyone out there (I'm sure someone who has finished their MCP does) know what size switches are to be used and where to purchase them? I am talking about the square switches (13 of them) and the toggle switches. Why doesn't someone keep a record of what they have bought and where to buy it and post their sources somewhere in this forum or on the Wiki site? It would make things alot easier for those of u…

Hi, 1. I just finished wiring all 7 seg LED display and discover that the initial "1" in radios are not displayed as well as the decimal point. There seems also to be a little trick used in AP-ALT selector in order to save some displays. When I config the offsets I get 00018 instead of 18000 ( and the layout of my displays is correct)I am now a bit confused since all 7 Seg Displays have been soldered on PCB.What's the solution. Getting an output from the Master Iocard for each missing segments seems absurde. What are your experience and how did you resolve that issue. Applying directly 5 volt + resistors ?? Any suggestions are very welcome.2. I get also totally confused wi…

Hi guys,I would like to know if I can wire my IOCards to have 2 Push Button Switches instead of Rotaries. One to select up and one to select down? The switches I'm using also might be always on (on=1), so I'll have to setup IOCards to switch when they are off (off=0).Look forward to some information.Kind Regards,Brad HellerNewcastle, Australia

Ok, I've somehow managed to stuff up the key card yet again, but I've got a thought or two that may be causing it - then again I may be well out.I had soldered one set of pins, and 1 diode and tested the board and it was fine, worked well.Soldered everything else - and nothing, nada, zilch.I thought I would check the pic just to make sure it was fine so then turned the fsbus off, changed all the jumpers over to program mode, read the pic and it wasn't written right - so I was happy!Well for a short time, I had also kept the key test on, and noticed one row of switches were 'live' during the program and wondered if this could be my error, because even though the program we…

Hi all, decided to take the plunge and start construction of cockpit for the C130, my favorite plane. Been reading the posts here and getting lots of great ideas.Anyway, in my travels around the net I ran across these small lcd monitors that they are using in vehicles, but have the vga connector to hook up to your computer. Thought I would throw this out and get some feedback on whether or not these would be good for the guys doing the glass cockpit setup.http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_you_ne...al/IN-700VG.htmAnyway, thanks again for all the great ideas, and I will update as I make progress on my cockpit.Jeff

Hi,I'm a total newbie at electronics. I would like to know the best way to wire switches. Do you just take bare wire and solder it directly to the switch terminal? Or do you solder it to some type of connector and then just plug it in to the switch? I know all switches are different. But perhaps you could give me some examples of how to wire a switch, i.e. toggle or push button. Also, how would I learn which terminals on the switches should be connected to which wire -- which terminal is ground, live, etc.. Is that shown on a switch? Is there a guide on the web, i havn't been able to find one yet.ThanksAlan
