Well my switch panel is pretty much done. I decided to build a fairly generic setup - I like flying a wide variety of aircraft. Interface boards are Betainnovation's Gammaray 64 and Cyclotron. Thanks to Leo for all his fantastic help and great products. All functions are hooked up and programmed thru FSUIPC and Betainnovation's Keyboard Studio.Construction is plexiglass. The lettering is sandwitched between two sheets of plexi, and was printed on my large format inkjet (Canon S9000). Dimensions are 18in wide x 4 x 4 - its designed to fit in my keyboard tray space. The flap switch is spring loaded monentary up and down (center off), and the gear switch has to be pul…

I had been wondering for some time if it would be possible to make a fairly nice sim on the cheap using readily available materials and ordinary construction techniques. Recently, this wondering took physical form as the "Simple Sim" project. The current incarnation of the Simple Sim is based on the Bell 206B Jet Ranger helicopter. Because the project is modular, it should be easy to morph the sim to model other aircraft. Much of the materials are drawn from scrap left over from home remodelling projects. When materials are purchased, generally Ace Hardware, Home Depot or Pep Boys Auto Parts is the first store visited. Construction techniques often involve wood work, wood …

Is FSLCD (ver. 3.7 or 5.1) software compatible with Windows 2000 Proffesional I'm using (or other systems like NT or XP where it's impossible to directly write data to parallel port buffer)?Direct writing was possible with older Windows 98 like systems.

Hi,I have just made my FSBUS components, everything seems to work OK exept for the display. I have the numers showing, but I dont have the last digit. When it should show 122.35, it only show 123.3, each numer on right place, but the last is not showing anything (complete dark). Same is on display test, it counts as it should but no last digit. It is the same on all displays.I think I have read something about similar on this forum, but i cant find it now when I'm searching.

I tried a search on various words in this topic but was unable to find out info on this specific area. If this subject has been covered before, I apologize. My current system comprises - Intel 2.54GHz CPU, BFG NVidia 6800 Ultra Extreme video card, and 2Gb of RAM. I have 3 22" monitors and I want to do the following:I want to configure the three monitors to show the front view and the two side views - at the moment I don't need to display panels except on the main (front view) monitor.I've seen various commentaries indicating folks have used three video cards controlling 3 monitors from a single computer, or three separate (networked) computers controlling individual moni…

New version of SIOC 0.8 Beta is available in www.opencockpits.com download area (IOCards software section). It includes a new compiler. Now it's posible to write the program in a text file. Very useful for advanced programers.A Power Point presentation about SIOC is also available at download area, including examples and tricks.

Hi all,All of us need to start a couple programs automatically with the computer. Some will need FS2004, FSBUS, and PMsounds. others may need FS2004, IOCards, and the MCP.How do you make it to make sure that after all, FS2004 will end up maximized and being the active program, not on second task showing the windows destop?Cheers all,Romeo.

Do you remember the flight simulation centers called Fightertown located at one time in Mountain View, Lake Forrest, or Pasadena, California? Were you one of the people who worked at the locations or had a chance to experience a ride in one of the simulators? Are you actively involved with or building your own simulator? If so I would like to hear from you. I purchased most of the static and all of the full motion units in inventory and will be starting a new project using the full motion units. With feedback from folks who are true enthusiasts I hope to create a ride that may not be as authentic as an actual Stealth Bomber or Fighter Jet but will definitely be fun, excit…

I have some questions on fsdisplayI compared the pcb layout of the display3c board in the FSBUS COM III.pdf page 7 with the fsdisp3c.jpg (in the fsdisp.zip). I noticed these 2 are mirrored to each other. The latter is from the componentside so this makes reason. I saw pictures of the complete boards and that looked the same as the schematics. Also if I use a gerberviewer of the file 3c board it is mirrored to the fsdisp3c.jpg(component side)But if I compare the lower part of the same pic on page 7 with fsdisp8d.jpg I see that these 2 are the same. They are not mirrored??On the pic here you see the lower left of the picture on page 7.I draw the segments on the pins. If I l…

  20. Hi,a friend, told me that has used about 37 pieces of 12v lamps for backlight in his cockpit in parallel with 1A psu. These 12v lamps are small ones like the leds and they use them also for car's panel backlight. So the question is how to connect them, serial or parallel? How many of them can i connect in total? How many Ampers they need?In serial connection i loose brightness. In parallel they told me that i can't connect more than 8 pieces. How can i connect more ? So every one of them has about 40

I was thinking (unfortunately I do this sometimes! :-) )...Most current FMC support keyboard input but there is a problem. When using a single PC that runs all the programs, probably using multiple monitors, you have to give focus to the FMC in order to use the keyboard. This creates the problem that when FS looses focus sound goes off even if the sim continues.I can think of two (2) possible solutions. To use a different keyboard, most likely USB, to control the FMC.But how can you tell the OS or FS or the FMC which keyboard to read? Can you?but even better ...To use one Int16 offset in FSUIPC which the FMC will read and to which you can write the decimal value of the asci…

I'm in the process of finishing my tabletop cockpit project of a turboprop twin engine. I would like to know if a lot of people are using real instruments (not the real onse, but looking like the real ones -simkits like). Is there an interest in the market and what would be an afoordable price. My setup costed about 6000 euro. Am I crazy, or is there no limitation on the price of your dreams? What has the community to say about that?check out the pics (anyone knows how I can put the pics inside the message instead of an attachment?)and please check out my websitehttp://users.pandora.be/theportablecockpit

Hi all!Anybody know of a software program that lets you use the hat switch on your joystick to move the mouse? Did a search, but it appears the ones out ther use the movement of the stick to do it, which isnt what I want.Im building a C-130 cockpit, and on the flight yoke is a hat switch that on the real ones is used to control the cursor on thier glass cockpit displays. Thanks for any help!Jeff

I have programmed all the keystrokes for the PM CDU in to my FSBUS KEY board but when I run the CDU it does not see the keys.Once programed, should the FSKEY board transfer the keystroke associated with the key that was programmed - an "A"for instance? Should I be able to se these keys type in notepad when I press the key, like you would with a keyboard emulator?I have selected FS:PM.Keyboard Interfaces.CDU as the destination for the letter "A" as an experiment but it does not type in the CDU scratchpad.Any ideas about where I'm going wrong is appreiciated.
