Has anyone tried this combination?I'm thinking about disassembling an old overhead projector - it has a thick glass plate which seems to be coupled to a fresnel somehow - and experimenting with setting up a CRT under it, where it would be projected (albeit probably pretty dimly) onto a screen through the original optics of the overhead projector. But I thought I'd ask in case anyone had tried it.I did see a few posts but they generally involved either a 640 x 480 built-in LCD or an LCD placed onto the glass. Thanks,Andrew

Looking for advice on finding a Cessna 172 cockpit (or any light GA cockpit really). I've tried looking for boneyards online, but everyone I find is out west (I'm in Houston, Tx) and deals with the big jets. I'm thinking of trying to put a setup together similar to the one on www.cessnasim.com . I would think there should be one around here locally, but I'm hitting a roadblock on where to start looking. Also, ballpark what a fuselage like that might cost, if possible?TIAMike

  3. Hi all...Currently I have a dual output Radeon 9250 128 MB DDR running 2 monitors on my King Air sim. One monitor for scenery and one for gauges. The scenery is hooked to the VGA out connector and the gauges to the DVI out. The problem I have is in full screen modes I can't get over 10 FPS !!! (My FS2004 settings are all set to Medium settings). In window mode I stay around 10-15 FPS...Would I get better FPS and smoother operation by doing one of the following:1)Use the Radeon 9250 to drive one monitor ....say the scenery and add a single ouput AGP graphics card for the second monitor ?2) Remove the Radeon dual ouput card and replace with a single PCI and AGP graphics car…

Hi Guys,Just bought 25 bourns rotary encoders that work well connected directly to FSBUS or even through REDEC. Unfortunately while waiting the 6 weeks for them, I changed my mind and decided use IOCards instead of FSBUS and of course they don't work with IOCards the way I want them to.Each encoder is worth $4.80 Australian Dollars and postage is extra. You can check out this link for the Bourns PDF.http://www.meditronik.com.pl/doc/bourns/ecw.pdfPart No. ECW1J-B24-BC002424 Detents per revolution1/4 Cycle per DetentRegards,Brad [email protected], Australia.

Having just got two 40x2 displays working with FSLCD, I'm now hooked. Great way to display info - I'll be building my MCP soon! Although my machine only has one LPT/Printer port, I've seen PCI cards that will add more. Before I buy a card, however, I'd like to know if FSLCD can support more than one port (and thus more than two displays) at the same time. I see the selection for LPT port, but I'm not clear if this means more than one can be driven at a time. Thoughts / info anyone?P.s. anyone building a cable for the first time - it got a lot easier once I figured out that if you're using ribbon cable, that the first wire will be pin 2, second wire pin 1, then 4, 3, …

Hi,I'm developing some "glass-cockpit" instruments for my ATR72 cockpit and working around the PFD (primary flight display) I'm "facing" the implementation of the Flight Director Bars. The thing that I don't know is how the flight director works.Considering the vertical bar of the FD, the movement to the left or to the right is proportional to the difference of the current aircraft heading and the heading I set on the autopilot (HDG)?I mean something like: FDmov= HDGaircraft - HDGautopilot?I didn't find so much documentation about it.I hope I was clear explaining the thing.Regards,Bob

Hello,Has anyone experimented with lenses (fresnal or glass) in front of a projector to bring the image in closer to the source projection unit? I have a tandem seat arrangement and the panoramic side screens will come in too close given the room we are allowed to use.Thanks.Jay

Nothing seems to be loose and Voltage seems to be passing along the cards.Regards.Roberto

Wondering what other builders are doing for starting and controlling FS9 from a remote host. In a cockpit environment, I certainly do not want to attach keyboard and mouse to the remotely placed FS9 system, specially considering FS9 host will be connected to a projector. I tried windows remote desktop, which works beautifully for all other tasks, but unfortunately FS9 cannot be launched from a remote desktop. Other option is to use a kvm switch, which is no better. I know FS9 can be automatically lauched following the bootup and login. But still one needs mouse and keyboard for the further selection.Another option I am thinking about is to run a automation script that lau…

For some time a few of us have been developing an interface for a surplus azimuth display for use with Falcon 4.0 and Falcon AF. An azimuth display is a 3" vector-graphics CRT. It displays a variety of symbols representing radar emitting threats. We finally have some working hardware to show.http://www.mikesflightdeck.com/images/RWR3_Disp.jpg The image above shows the first half of the symbol library. The second half includes more letters, aircraft shapes, a ship, and various geometrical shapes. The symbols are each a collection of vectors drawn by a PIC16F876A micro controller. The PIC loads a set of digital to analog converters. The DAC outputs are amplified to drive th…

Hi AllFirst of all, Sorry for my bad english. Here's my problemI've made a COMIII, fsdip and fscom boards. I've been able to program all PIC's but... I made Fsled board, installed with new cable (cable was faulty but I realized it a bit too late. Ok, I was not able to program fs-led, tried to progamm some of the disps once again - without success.Ok then I found that the cable was faulty (shortened two wires). I installed good cable (between com and fsled) changed PIC, and... success all was ok. Then I tried to program other pic's - no way they seemed to be death. I've bought new pic-s - they can't be flashed in any way on any board now. It's strange, I've tested voltages…

Hi,As far as interfacing switches, rotary encoders, buttons and such, what experience have builders had with the two products. I've read a great deal about each, but I'm interested in what you experienced folks would recommend for the multitude of switches, dials and controls in my Lear 45 simpit. What are the pros and cons, and experiences, with each? Thanks a BUNCH!MT

Hi guys,I have found a way to use SIOC on top of FSBUS, thus providing the option to add extra logic to an existing FSBUS implementation! You can now, for example, add Lights Tests, and tests for Cold And Dark cockpit state quite easily. This new way has been succesfully implemented and tested by Ian Cameron.Your FSBUS implementation only needs to read from a new offset (a simple change in the ini file). SIOC will do the rest.Read more at my website, NOTAM April 30.Best Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
