Hi everybody,I am constructing a cockpit based on the excellent LDS767I have posted a question on the hardware forum but received no replies so I shall try here. Are any of you using a computer with PCIexpress graphics cards and non-PCIexpress graphics cards simultaneously for the 3rd or additional monitors? My computer store has told me that I cannot do this.My dilemma is that I want to get a new machine to run multiple monitors (mainly the instruments (3) and FMC(1) and another one for the forward outside view (5 in total). If I go for two identical PCIexpress graphics cards (unbridged to run FS2004), the most I will get is 4 monitors?I am looking at the following spec…

I have gotten permission to build a new machine :) since 5 monitors (3 external views and 2 for instruments etc) are killing my frame rates. Here is what I am planning using Wideview, but I wondered if anyone had other thoughts, or if this is the best use of multiple PCs.PC #1 - Server, 1 monitor for front view, 2 for panels etcPC #2 - Client, 1 monitor for front right viewPC #3 - Client, 1 monitor for front left viewLaptop - WideFS for other applications (squawkbox, etc)Does this seem like a good use of what I have? None of these are super high end machines, with the exception of the laptop they are between 1GHz and 3 GHz with 1 - 2 mb of ram. Video cards are Nivdia 550…

Hi all...currently my sim uses 2 graphics cards to drive 2 monitors - 1 for the outside view and one for the instrument panel. When I undock the panel to display on second monitor I get a frame rate hit.I've heard that Wideview would allow me to run 2 PC's - 1 dedicated to the scenery and 1 for my instrument panel. This would allow me to have maximum scenery FPS on my most powerful PC (2.4 g with 1.5 MB RAM). I have a P3 650MHz I'd like to run the panel on and network them together using WideviewWhen I went to the Wideview site in the FAQ section it says Wideview not good for running instrument panels on 1 PC and recommends running 1PC with 2 graphics cards which I have n…

Hi guys, which do you guys prefer using for a trim wheel? Pot or encoder? I think ( i have no idea yet) an encoder would feel too smooth for a trim in a piper/cessna. But maybe some friction form a rubber piece would help. But how about an airliner? one thing i would like about an encoder is that i do not need to reset the trim before loading a flight since an encoder is endless while a pot is about 270deg. How about a multiturn trim. If you guys use pots, from all the plans and tutorials around, do you guys have a hardware trim gauge to help reset the trim before everyflight? or do you guys just mess around with it. Would like to hear your opinion on it.

Westozy (Gwyn) has made a brilliant description including pictures how to modify a MS Sidewinder Joystick into realistic Flight controls for his home built cockpit. Great piece of work! Thank you Gwyn for taking the time and effort to share this with us.http://ifsbi.org/tutorials/Sidewinder-tutorial.pdf (approx 500Kb)

Curious if anyone has replaced their IFS Photon with a PhidgetsUSA system? This is now posted at the IFS site:June 18, 2006: It is with regret that we inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, Integrated Flight Systems is ceasing operations (likely permanently) effective immediately. So I am once again looking for an interface system. Regards,Richard

Last night, I put all three main panels together. The very first time. Install the copilot side's frame and mount the panel on the rails. Then put the glareshield on it.http://alkit.fotopic.net/c140722_37.htmlhttp://alkit.fotopic.net/c140722_73.htmlNext stage, will work on the conversion of each gauges and indicator. Long way to go.www.alkit.net

I can't begin to tell everybody how excited I am about this panel, I just have to share my experience with you.The Airbus Flap Panel / Mechanism is not something that is available to buy, let alone any other panels from newer Airbus versions. There's only one panel manufacturer (for our hobby), who produces most of the panels. The sets are not complete and mostly without mechanisms. Airbus parts are just hard to come by :(About 6 months ago I had the opportunity, to have in my hand, a sample Boeing EFIS panel, made by Ken Weiland of www.Dakenskys.com I was absolutely amazed at its accuracy, compared to the real panel, in every way. Of course my wheels started to tu…

Hi guysI am thinking how to make the 777 parking brake. Just using a simple toggle switch is too easy. But unfortenately the handle is more diffucult to make then the 737's.Does anybody has a good idea? I checked all the 777 sites I know of, but nobody has made one yet, AFAIK.RegardsNorberthttp://home.wanadoo.nl/norbert.bosch

Hi,I've nearly finished my first freeware glass cockpit for the ATR72-500 (FSUIPC registered needed). It has its own network engine (then no need for payware like WideFS or similar) and screen positioning through a simple INI file. Some details of the "PFD" (Primary Flight Display) are to complete yet but if someone is interested I could send the 5 panels via e-mail.When everything will be completed I will upload them here on AVSIM.Next job will be the development of a glass cockpit for the MD-80.I attached a screenshot of all the instruments for the ATR72-500.Regards,Bob

.. Does anyone have a good source for getting hold of mechanical counter mechanisms (preferably UK/Europe) cheaply? The sort of thing I'm after is similar to the odometer in a car, the barrel mechanism for displaying a numerical countI need a selection for a GA cockpit to represent the barometric pressure and maybe engine hours..I have had no luck finding anything suitable, not even ebay..Just want to exhaust this avenue before I resort to an electronic solution..Thanks,Wayne M
