Well, I think I am going to take the keyboard emulation route with toggle switches, relays, and capicitors and make a little setup. The ones I want to emulate for sure are:Lighting (Nav beacon etc)Engine Starts 1-4Pitot HeatAvionics on/offMy question then is.... where do I go about assigning say the Nav lights to the switch?? I have looked in the MS commands but I don't see a command for nav lights, or taxi light, only the switch on the panel... am I missing something??Thanks!Chris

Hi All Its been a few years since I last flew FSX and am coming back with a vengence. What I have is a partially built Cockpit and no payware software (I used freeware before I put the game away). I recently ordered some I/O boards, Buttons, switches and bought ALOT of castaway Joysticks, LED displays, pedels, etc for parts, and acquired alot of free transparent plastic sheets and foamcore board from a local Walmart that was remodeling. All this for making panels and such to complete the Instrument bays and enclosure. Here is my delima, I've been away for so long I do not know which software is considered the best anymore and especially ones that will be useable t…

When I connect a LED on any J2 pin ( 11-48 ) of my MasterCard (just bought), it is permanently ON! With SIOC monitor (last version) I turn the outputs status ON / OFF but the led never turns OFF. Is this normal? This is my first attempt with SIOC and OpenCockpits cards and for now I am testing and learning.. It looks like my master card does not open/closes the positives I've tested all pins and here are the results: [+5V],11,12,13,14,15,16,18,20,21 (dim) 17,19,30,31 (off) 22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29 (bright) 32,33,34,35,36,37,38,39,40 (very dim) 41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48 (dim) Nothing changes using "ALL ON" and "ALL OFF" EXCEPT PIN18! when I press "ALL …

I have had my open cockpits usb expansion board and master card board for some time now but never got round to trying them out, I recently downloaded SIOC and tried to set up a simple push button to work in FSUIPC I have 5v supplied to the master card and the usb connection to the expansion card. I have had the software working fine registering the button press and running fine, however I have just tried to write a simple script file for the push button to work in fsuipc and for some reasons I cannot get it to work and I ended up messing around in the "config devices" window tryng to link something together ( dont know what Im talking about) but it says linked then I …

I am just thinking about to build an FCU for aerosoft airbus. I can use arduino for toggles and buttons with Linda. I can also use potantiometer for such as flaps, trim etc via FSUIPC. But I dont have any idea what should I use for hdg-alt-spd select. I can assign buttons for them in Linda but It would be good to use potantiometer for realism. Thanks.

Good day all, Thank You for your precious help :-) I had a chance to fly few Boeing 737 Home Cockpit Simulators in the past few days, and I would like to start talking about avionics, focusing on: AP behavoiur, PFD/ND logic and displays, Engine Parameters both in flight / start up. I'm sure I used both ProSim 737 and Project Magenta (and maybe others that I don't know...) I understand it's impossible to create a Level-D simulator, but I find PMDG NGX or IFLY to be a lot closer to the real aircraft than the software used in the home cockpit's sims. So here are my questions: - Which is the best avionic suite in terms of fidelity to the real aircraft which can…

Does anyone know how to get around the issue I have in my 737 cockpit where the view down the centreline is fine for the captain, but when I move into the copilot seat there is a strong feeling that you are steering the aircraft about 45 degrees to the left (to keep on the centreline). I can solve it if I pan the view a couple of clicks to the left so that the centreline runs down towards the copilot (instead of the captain), but in that case the captain gets the feeling of steering 45 degs to the right! As I guess quite a lot of folks fly with 2 pilots, how do you get around this? Best Charles

yes, it is ambitious, but I want to replicate the Tri-Jet in my bedroom. It won't be that hard to make the framework, that can be done with plywood, and similarly the MIP and Pedastal panels can be done as such (overhead will be a later project). What I am interested in is people's thoughts on annunciators and electronics. Are there any pre-made or kit MD-11 home cockpit parts? How should I do the autoflight panel? I have a slight idea, but I need to do some research before I post that here. Any thoughts? Has anyone tried an MD-11 home cockpit before? Blue skies, MD-11Flyer

HiI was using the old FreeFD eicas, however it was really eating my system up and casuing lockups and the other gauges to run at 1FPS etc.....My cockpit is for a 4 engined aircraft, however I cannot find any free EICAS displays? Plenty of free 2engine ones (737 mainly), but nothing for 4 engines???Anyone know of anything? Many thanks(PS, preferably where the program is slow-pc friendly - P2 450mhz, 320mb ram, WinXP etc).

So as the title says I'm gonna start buying a home cockpit after planning what I'm gonna do. Question one is this. I've always wanted to build a Dash 8-400 cockpit because i prefer the smaller airliners, turbo props and such it's more relaxed and cosy. But after a while of searching I couldn't find anything for dash 8 hardware, instruments etc. The other one I'd like to do is either the A320 or the B737, both are equally available to get parts of but wondering which one I should go for. I prefer flying the Airbus but for terms of building a cockpit would it be better and more value for money to build a B737? Since it has more to it, so will be much more interestin…

I'm doing some homework at the moment and looking into the costs and logistics of building a 737-800 cockpit. I am currently researching the visuals and have not made my mind up about whether HD projection or 4 x 1920x1080 47" TV's. What I would truly like to achieve is a 140 degree (or similar) wrap around screen with a three projection setup, however, I am concerned that the quality of visuals will be disappointing compared to the use of monitors. Also, I am assuming that an OC haswell 4770 CPU with a 780ti (maybe a couple of 760's in SLI could handle the three projectors, but can anyone give any ideas on whether a similar setup could run four screens? Of course the ins…

I have come here to ask a question because I know this group knows where to find things. This is NOT FS related. I have a Nespresso Aeroccino milk frother that has stopped working. In order to not have to spend $100 for a new one I need to just replace a blown thermal fuse but I cannot find one for the life of me. Needed: Thermal cutoff fuse. 108 degrees C, 5 Amp. at 125V or 4A at 250V. Axial type. Does anyone know where I can buy one online? thanks!

Hi All, I am thinking of taking my simulator to the next step and replacing some of my saitek hardware with a better MCP & EFIS. I haven't quite decided on Jetmax or GoFlight yet. I am also working towards a triple screen setup. I would like to run the avionics on a networked PC so as not to overload my FSX rig. I have downloaded a demo of sim-avionics but cannot for the life of me get it working properly with either the default 737 or my PMDG 737 NGX. I would love to her from anyone who can give me a few pointers. There seems to be very little in the way of tutorials out there. I am currently trying this out on my networked laptop that I use for ASN, EFB &…

Hey guys. I'm completely new to home cockpit building so I have a couple of questions. 1) where can I learn to wire these switches and leds etc and is it easy? 2) can it damage your pc? I heard if you wire it wrongly it can send electricity through your motherboard and damage it. Thanks in advance Ross

HiI'm looking to start building a 737NG cockpit now that I've got the new PMDG 737NGX. I had looked at doing a build before but was overwhelmed by the amount of information out there, I just didn't know where to start. Ideally I'd like to start building something reasonably small but that I could get a lot of use out of. I was thinking along the lines of the MCP. I like the idea of wiring everything up and buying LEDs, switches etc but I want it to look half decent, I want to get proper switches and LEDS. I'm a complete noob when it comes to circuit boards and stuff but am willing to learn. Where to start? Any help would be greatly appreciatedGarry

Hi all I hope you can help a complete newby here. I am building a simple panel to house some switches to control the Nav Landing and other lights on the PMDG 737NGX. I want an LED to light up when the switch is in the on position but not sure how to go about wiring the switch to the LED? I believe there is a danger of sending a voltage straight through the computer mother board. I intend using the BU0836X board from Leo Bodnar as the FSX interface and I do realise I need a separate power supply for the LEDs. Can anybody help with a wiring diagram and some advice on what LEDs to use.I did do a search using numerous keywords but nothing relevant came up.Thanks, Geoff

Hey! I have been flying desktop simulation for years with a CH yoke and pedals, I think its time to upgrade to a full cockpit but I first need some help before I invest so much. I will be ordering FDS cockpit hardware but I am wondering what program is to be used to sync the switches of the cockpit pannels to my PMDG 737-800 and Im wondering what program is used to display the LCD screen instruments? I use FSX btw. I am going to order the FDS B737 PRO-MX-DSTD 2.0, which is fully wired and built.(http://www.flightdecksolutions.com/components/b737ng/b737ng-sections-modules/fds-b737-pro-mx-dstd-2.0/) If so, is there a video tutorial to help, I know how to interlink 2…
