Hello All, I am a real world pilot S.E.L. of the Cessna fixed wing. I am building my simulator from the ground up. My system is entirely dedicated to the simulator only. No other games, software or programs (unless related to my sim). I am running Windows 10 64 bit. My computer has the Nvidia GTX970 with an Intel I7-6700 processor to make my simulator run smooth and fast. I am not by any means a computer programmer or builder, but from what I think I know, I can be quite dangerous. Having said that, here is the information I would like to consult the forum on as I continue to build my system. I am using Microsoft Windows Flight Simulator X with the Acceleration …

Does anyone have the dimensions for the A320 CEN and CPT blocks? I found them on: https://www.simucockpit.fr/a320/1-la-menuiserie/ http://www.mon-a320.fr/index.php?page=mip_menuiserie But I have a problem: My problem is that the MIP is supposed to be rotated 20 degrees and it is supposed to fit on that side (black arrow) but that site is only ~399mm and all the panels that I see on websites are like 420mm. One of these websites even provides a drawing of one with 425mm that would go over and I wouldn't be able to assemble the glareshield. Where can I find the right drawings or what am I doing wrong? I also found one on a cockpit parts shop and th…

Just wanted to start a new discussion for all the "light" cockpit builders who have some "decent" hardware like GoFlight modules, PFC consoles, radio stacks etc. A couple of years ago, the simmers dream was a dedicated external 2D panel, ideally running on a separate machine (with AirManager, SimPlugins or similar software), some hardware staff like radios, and a panorama wide view with 3 HD screens. With the availability of large 4K TV screens, this has changed somewhat: Now we can have almost 1:1 replicas of cockpits (in size and also readable) for less then 2000 USD, using a (curved) 65 or even 70 inch screen. Also die-hard cockpit builders started to recommend …

Hi , been racking my little brain to find a way to switch between COM1 and COM2 ... NAV1 and NAV2 in a G1000 PFD (Flight1 Cessna Citation Mustang. I have made a little button/rotary box and have it all configured great except for this. I am using FSUIPC to write the functions but cannot find a FSUIPC or SIMCONNECT Control number that does this function..... does one exist ? Be great if someone could chip in with some advice on this... Thanks for your help aero

Hi all, Sorry if this has been asked before, but then the search function didn't gave me the results I was looking for. I'm reduced in my P3D setup in that I had to move my PC to the living room to make space four our baby. I also have a Microsoft Surface Pro that I would like to use as a secondary display for the MFD and FMS. It appears that FSDisplays might do the trick I'm looking for but I can't figure out if it is compatible with P3D v3.x If it is, well great.... If not... Then where should I look as I do not want to install P3D on both machines..... (the surface can't handle it) Thanks n advance, Maarten Otto

Just a note to everyone who might have an interest in the G1000 Trainer, I'm back working on my FS1000 FTD which is a desktop control box with real switches and knobs to interact with the Garmin G1000 Trainer software (which runs on a PC). I'm documenting my work as I go at this website: www.glassFTD.com I took some time off to dive into a rabbit hole called low powered laser machines. I found it too expensive to keep sending out my CAD drawings to have my panels laser cut, so I decided to buy my own DIY laser kit and build it myself. Well, after 10 long months of getting educated on these laser machines and having to write my own CAM software to make it cut out m…

Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a 737 throttle quadrant, but I would like to keep the cost down. Most of the realistic throttles sell for about $750 and up. Are there any other cheaper alternatives out there? How about building my own? Are there any plans out there where I can use a CNC machine to make parts? Thanks for the help, George

Hi, I would like make a home cockpit of the Bonanza F33A, to use it with X-Plane10 and Carenado Bonanza F33A. For this project I would use a touch screen with Air Manager, for basic instrumentals and engine's instrumentals, and the saiteck's Yoke, Pedal, Multi, Radio, Switch, Quadrant and Trim. My idea is to build the structure of the cockpit with a wood's panel, with a hole, where I will put the touchscreen, and on the right side of the monitor I will screw the Saitek radio Panel, the Saitek Multi Panel, in the bottom on the right side I will put the Trim, the Trhtottle, and the quadrant and under the left side of the monitor I will put the Saitek Switch Panel and fina…

Two months ago I was able to buy a motorized 737 tq from a real flightsimulator company at Schiphol Inside there are 3 cards - Leo Bodnar BU836X card for all axis / buttons - Phidgets 1064 card , connected to : trimwheels - Phidgets 1061 card , connected to : left throttle , right throttle and speedbrake Using the Phidget Control Panel everything is working correctly Fs2Phidgets itself is also a program for connecting all kinds of Phidgets hardware to FSX However you need a script and nowhere I found how to make them.</p> Also no tutorial I was able to find Also I downloaded DVATX 1.4 : this program is a standalone for an autothrottle with Phidgets Calibrating go…

I am intending to build a basic panel for all rotary encoders, selector switches and buttons found on the AP, EFIS & MFD displays. It will be an input only panel without LCD displays or signal lights as the cockpit display is adequate. Before I spend time and money on this project I need to know if it is possible to interface the controls and if so how, or is this only possible in FSX. I have perused several sites but I am still unclear if this can be achieved. I had thought of using a Bodnar, PoKeys or some other interface which is possibly easier than using an Arduino. I have FSX, but I have all UK sceneries, airports and other addons for FS9 so would pr…

I gave up trying to fly with the mouse / keyboard and figured I could never afford the hardware that I'd need to fly with relative ease. However, after lots of web searching I've purchased the following at a cost I'd never dreamed of. Most second hand. Is there anything else that could assist me, thanks for any help. Goflight MCP Virtual Avionics virtual CDU (iPad owned) Saitek throttle quadrant with single arm dual handles add-on kit V2 Rudder pedals (owned)

I am asking for help from someone who understand programming, especially SIOC and its ability to work with FSUIPC. I am a 68 year old former pilot. I flew both GA and military fighters. So, my interests lies not with the airline type of aircraft, but with the military fighter type. Ten years ago I set out to build a cockpit based on one of my favorite aircraft, the T-38. That cockpit was named here as the Cockpit of the Month by Mycockpit.org.. With the introduction of TacPac cockpit simulation can take on a new dimension. So, in my quest to pretend I am still 24 yrs. old, I have decided to rebuild the cockpit and turn it in a true fighter simulator with weapons…

Hello everyone. Recently, I saw frooglesim's video about a guy in Italy making handles for the saitek pro flight throttle quadrant. His website is here : flightsimpm.com I like the look of them and they look incredible. I live in the US, so shipping and price is extremely expensive as it comes out to be around $140 for the 737 pro levers. I decided to take this project on myself, so I will continually update this thread of my progress. I will probably be able to get the speedbrakes, throttles and flaps done. For the reverse thrust, that may be hard so I do not know if I will be able to do it - if I do I will also update the post on the tutorial/pictures. In …

Hi all I hope you can help a complete newbie here. I am looking to build an overhead panel for the Aerosoft Airbus A318,A319,A320,A321. I have a lot of questions to ask you all. First off, for switches like ON OFF am I right in using SPST switches? E.g. landing gear Secondly, for switches such as, ON AUTO OFF. What switches do I use? Links? Does the full version of FSUIPC come with the mouse macro function? If so does it work with the Aerosoft Airbus? Also, does anyone have any links to a useful FSUIPC video using the mouse macro and the ON AUTO OFF switches? These are all the questions I can think of at the moment, although im sure there are many more to come Thanks a …

I have ordered a few things from them recently and have had some basic questions... and am not really getting that "warm and fuzzy" feeling about the purchase. Oddly, on the phone, the "other guy" (maybe the owner?) is super helpful and really seems to enjoy talking about it and helping with suggestions. I'm just getting started doing this, so that type of service is great. Documentation is sparse (maybe ok for someone familiar with electronics - I'm not) and some products don't exactly "perform as expected", e.g. "linking cables" which appear to let you easily connect leads on, say, a rotary encoder, to the leads on a circuit board, but in reality (and as I found…

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if many other users are using standard plexiglass sheets to encase their panels. I'm using 2.5mm acrylic for the back and front, and so far I've avoided to many cracks or melting when cutting. I use a combination of router bits, hole-cutters and bradpoint drill bits for the circular cut outs. I'm having more problems cutting the general pieces to size and non-circular cut-outs. A member on another forum mention the Rockwell Blade Runner X2 jig saw, which is an inverted, portable jig saw which looks perfect, but I can't find any English or Irish suppliers. Does anyone have any tips on their cutting methods, tools, blade choic…

Hi all- I'd like to make a few custom parts using off-the-shelf switches such as rockers and pushbuttons. I see that there are typically opening dimensions, and the switches themselves have "arms" that expand to lock them in place. However, I'm not sure about a few things: 1) What thickness should this plastic be? 2) What type of plastic should I use so that I can glue it? 2a) One reason for gluing is also to build ribs into the structure to increase rigidity 3) Where to buy? Amazon? Specialty plastics? 4) (bonus question!!) I'd love to be able to lay this out and print it so all the openings are perfect... I know that ain't gonna happen, so w…

To everyone who downloaded my RD-PAN16F code, I've updated the file with a newer version which works much better and fixes a minor false output bug. This version reliably tracks and outputs up to a max of 32 pulses / sec. This setting works best on my device, but if yours can handle more, you can easily change one variable for a faster rate in the code. So if your hardware can handle it, go for it.Here is the link:http://www.vif.com/users/leolacava/misc/ro...c/rd-pan16f.zipFYI - you can sign up on the Microchip website and ask for free samples, up to a max of 3 PICs. However, please guys, do not abuse this privilege...some of us really do use these samples to development n…

I am planning on attempting to build my own 747-400 overhead panel. I have watched some videos and seen that it would be fairly easy to get simple things like the apu to work. I was wondering how difficult it would be to assign switches to things like the IRS's and packs on the PMDG 747. Can I get it so that every button matches up with what is on the PMDG overhead panel, and working properly? Thanks.
