I want to build my own A320 FCU, starting with a prototype to learn all the ins and outs of FSUIPC, Arduino, Linda, ... whatever is needed. I'm still in study phase, and my end goal is to build my own DIY A320 cockpit. I consider this as a 10 year project, and I'm only starting as a newbee 😊 One of the challenges for the FCU is finding the encoders. I searched forums and google, and have some ideas, but would like to check with the experts here. So some questions below: Finding encoders with push only is easy and cheap, but for push/pull, I seem only to find a few vendors and prices are in the range of 70 € each. Anybody here with some buying tips, partnumbers,…

I am building an electric VSI and DI for my Piper Cub to make accurate flying easier on long journeys. I am hoping the final product will be battery powered and less than 1" thick. I am currently testing barometric pressure and magnetic sensors. I have a pi zero, arduino uno R3 or teensy 4.1 to use for this project. Can somebody recommend a stepper motor and driver to give a smooth 315deg rotation for the VSI and 360deg rotation for the DI? I am assuming that a stepper motor with less than 1 degree per step will be better then a servo for moving the needle? I have been looking at the X27.168 but cannot find a genuine one in the UK and also I am fi…

Hello there! Ok, I have my JeeHell A320 FMGS installed on 2 computers, connected with FSX, using FSUIPC and MobiFlight, and finally could control one of the buttons and light up an LED. Not a bad result for one month! My 8-digit 7-segment display is ordered as well, so I will soon continue to experiment. But my main goal is to build my "DIYCockpit". And I consider this as a 10-year project 🤗 Next step is looking for a desktop CNC (and eventually a 3D printer). I'm looking at a price range of about 400 EUR (I know, it's cheap, but if I google I see that there are a lot of options there). This CNC will be used to cut and engrave acrylic panels. I have th…

Hey guys, thought I'd just share my yoke mods project I'm currently working on (It's my first time doing something like this.) Before I delve further into the project, I'll share how I'm going (so far) about the project. Firstly, through many sketches (not shown in the images), I’ve come up with a way to mount a Leobodnar Hat switch on to the yoke, add extra toggle switches on an elevated site platform and have all of that connected to the Leobodnar BBI-32 Interface. https://i.imgur.com/QBWQzDB.jpg & https://i.imgur.com/cRAMjCR.png (Plan) Currently, the steps I've completed are the following: Complete a dry run of the systems prior to any work com…

  6. Hey guys first time posting here on the forums! Currently, I’m fixing my Pro Flight System Yoke by replacing the right-hand side PCB and buttons (which I broke) with a LeoBodnar interface BBI-32 board and hat switch. Naturally, I’ve managed to get the interface to work outside of the yoke (Connected to my PC directly, as seen below), and be seen by X-Plane 11. However, the problem I have is that when I want to connect the interface to the yoke itself via USB, I get a windows error saying that I need more power, so to try and fix this I plugged the yoke into the back of my motherboard , with the interface connected to the yoke and got the same problem. Additionall…

Hello, I have built my M20R based cockpit. it is now at a stage where I can show it and where I can use it. The Cockpit is based on a Mooney M20R but can also simulate any other single engine aircraft. I have 2 32inch LCD screens for left and right view and one projector for the front view. The simulator I use is X-Plane (V 11.50 B13) and there are 3 screens for the instruments. Each screen is connected to a Raspberry Pi running AirManager. Curently I am testing the new G5 (in the video below you see it, always as PFD configurated...) from siminnovations. For the main instruments I use an old Laptop Monitor where the face can be changed so I can have steam g…

  8. Hello, im having a spot of trouble programming the LVARS (its for the annunciator on top of the Bendix stack). The first one, COM1 selector know works perfectly. (L:kma26SelectorKnob_pos,enum) - Audio selector knob (0 – inop/com1, 1 – com1, 2 – com2, 3 – inop/com2, 4 – inop/com2) Example: <EventActionChangeValue TargetDataDefinition="LVAR:KMA26SELECTORKNOB" Value="0" ValueOperation="Increment" /> However, this one, i just cant get to work right. Nav1 button - if (L:kma26Nav1Switch,bool) is zero, toggle default (>K:RADIO_VOR1_IDENT_DISABLE) event I can turn is one without issue, but for the life of me i cannot figure out how to turn i…

  10. Hi, I’m looking to build either a Cirrus SR20/22 or Cessna 172/182/206. What would be the best option, buying a salvage fuselage from a scrapyard (if so where can I get one?) or building it from fiberglass?

  11. So my plan is to build a homemade flight simulator cockpit. Like they do on YouTube and stuff. I’m 14 years old and I think that’s is the correct age to start a project like this. But it’s so insanely expensive. We are talking 700$ for a freaking radio panel. Is it because the quality is so good? Because I don’t care about that. It could be made out of cardboard as long as it worked. But I want a plug and play, usb. Where can I find hardware on a budget? As I said I’m only 14 years old and I don’t have that much money so I need really cheap components. One thing I wanna say before you say anything. I do not in any way expect a full cockpit done this year. I expect it to b…

With MSFS2020 on the horizon, I'm planning on building a sim rig (been out of the sim hobby for about 5+ years). I didn't have a chasis before, but did have PFC equipment mounted to a desk. I'm hoping to use simpler components (hopefully the Honeycomb trifecta if available) with a single large screen (maybe 3 if I don't have to constantly hunt performance). There seems to be many options. The racing rigs particularly look very polished (e.g. rseat.net) but I'm not sure if the positioning of these work. Is there a community guide or inventory of options? There seem to be many random suggestions abound, but not a definitive list (similar to the old FSX tuning guides).

I know it must be connected to the sim via software from Podkeys and fsuipc, but I cant find any instructions how to do this. Can anyone who has done this before give me some advice? 15. Hi everyone, I am building a Citation Mutang simulator. I have the real sim gear G1000 x2 and also the 15" mfd. I plan to sell the G1000 and go with Aviteks setup because its fully backlit and they have the components I need. I have a CNC machine on the way and already built the panel in autocad. I have a 6 DOF platform. Currently Throttletek is building the throttle for me. What I need help with is if anyone was able to fully integrate with the RW design mustang and or the flight 1 and got it 100% working with all the hardware. Has anyone built a mustang sim? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

  17. I've been looking at upgrading my folding chair (it has no wheels, so it works with my rudder pedals) to an authentic Cessna seat. I can't find a GA boneyard in the Vancouver, BC area and it appears that most of them are down in the Southern half of the USA? At the very least, I would like a really good GA seat that will add to the flight sim experience. Has anyone purchased a nice GA seat that they would recommend? It would be ideal to use it on a rail system, and seat belt would be a bonus. 🙂

Can I have two multi monitor boards (Cards) of different Model numbers to enable 6 monitors instead of just three. I would like to mix a 1080 board with a 980ti board in the same computer. I thought I'd better ask first before blowing up my boards <grin>. Suggestions would be very helpful. My power supply is 1000 watts.

  19. Hi! I´ve just bought 2 BBI-32s from Leo Bodnar and some toggle switches. I´ve got some ON-OFF-ON switches and I will use those switches for switches that has 3 positions, like the battery switch, which has 3 steps: OFF-BAT-ON. My problem is that I don´t know if I should refund all ON-OFF-ON switches and get the same amount of ON-ON-ON switches instead. Will the On-Off-On switch work for a switch like the battery switch and with FSUIPC5 and with the BBI-32? This might be a simple question, but I´m a total beginner. Wilhelm

  20. I've been building some sim TPM controls using actual Cessna TPM controls, but mounting a linear slide potentiometer where the cable goes. I have the throttle control working, but notice that the range from one end to the other is not balanced. When the throttle is off, its value is jittering between 3-5. Approximately 25% throttle on the slide pot shows a high jitter value at 976-978, 50% value at 1006-1007, 75% value at 1014-105, and 100% value at 1018-1019. Flight Illusion GSA-010 I/O board. The software has range limit input from 0-1023, with a cross over value setting…

  21. Hi all, I know this message is off-topic for this forum, but I figure that this community might be uniquely able to help with what I'm looking for. I'm totally blind, and have been interested in flight simming for several years now. I currently use a variety of add-ons to assist me in flying the aircraft with Prepar3d or fSX. These include FS Tramp, fSX Pilot, GSX, etc. I'm developing an accessibility layer for prepar3d and FSX called Talking Flight Monitor. This add-on provides audio and speech feedback for several aircraft systems. The project can be found on github at: http://www.github.com/jfayre/talking-flight-monitor One very persistent prob…

Hi All, I am thinking about ways to improve immersion sensations in the cockpit I plan to build. Has anyone ever thought about a motion seat? I know you can have speakers under the seat to give you a sensation of rumbling across the tarmac but what about a seat that actually moves somewhat, to give you a sensation of being forced back into the seat when accelerating or tipping you forward when braking? I appreciate that it won't be able to move that much due to space constraints. I was thinking it could move to simulate turbulence as well maybe? It would sure be alot cheaper than a full motion simulator! Any thoughts appreciated, including if I'm being compl…

Hi everyone ! I am starting to build a a320 home cockpit by myself (I would like to build every components by myself). I don't know if you have recommendations for me in this project. I would like to know which software should I use to configure and use all my DIY panels with my flightsim. I am currently running FSX on windows 10 with Aerosoft a320-21. I am quite new and such a beginner with all this stuff LOL. Thank you for your help !

I'm currently building some of my own switches, and hardware using the GSA-010 board from Flight Illusion. First, I'd like to say how much I appreciate using the GSA-010 board has been from Flight Illusion. I was able to wire up my switches and LEDs without any hassle, and it works great with the FI G-Step configurator software. Support from Flight Illusion has also been second to none, and my preferred go to source for flight sim panel gear. I'm now working on wiring up a few potentiometers (both slide and rotary). The slide pots are used for my TPM, and am currently testing on 20k and 50k slide pots. However, when I wire them up to the board, and running the t…
