Hello everyone ... long time lurker I retired recently and have decided to try and launch into this wonderful world! Enthusiasm high, technical know-how .... zero! Years ago we converted half our garage into a home office. One end is a workstation my wife uses sometimes when WFH. On the other end, I am hoping to turn into my flight sim area. At this point, I want to keep it fairly generic so I can fly multiple aircraft types without specialising on equipment. So I am thinking 3x HDTV as the cockpit window, and other 15.6" touchscreens for instrument panels using air manager. Perhaps one overhead for the overhead display. The problem is I think my space is lim…

  2. Multiple Simultaneous actions and inputs, as well as outputs, are possible using basic components such as Double Pole Single Throw and Double Pole Double Throw Switches.

  3. Hey guys, I'm in the process of making a sim cockpit for FS2020, and I'm stumbled on a design. One switch on the flap box I don't exactly know how to design, I've tried multiple different ideas, none that have "worked" I've tried: - 4 position slide switch (the switch is an interesting design, I'd be willing to go back to this but I don't have a good design) - 4 position rotary (Due to the angle of throw, needs a gear design and wouldn't be possible in a limited space) - I thought about a 4 position toggle switch, but it doesn't exist. Any other ideas I can try? (Switch Picture)

  4. Hi all I've been a long time flight simmer over the years, but other than a brief dabble with XPlane 10, I've done virtually nothing since the late 2000s. Seeing FS2020's preview a couple of years back, I knew that that was going to be the tool to get me back into simming again. And now I have. I've chosen the XBox Series X as the console. I did that rather than spend considerably more money, and also to have to research the current state of gaming PC hardware, then likely buy something that still doesn't run it at full detail. Years ago, I enjoyed tinkering. Now, what I want is a point-and-shoot simulator. The only drawback with this decision (I knew it a…

  5. I am working on a partial panel cockpit and just received an INOP autocontoller IIIB autopilot head unit. It has the two rocker switches on either side of the rotary roll control knob. I want to use the switches to connect to my Arduino for the autopilot on/off and the heading activate switch. It’s easy enough to connect the momentary switch to the board. But what keeps the switches in the closed position, and the switch plunger pushed in, is a small 3/4” diameter electromagnet that holds the metal plate on the top back of the rocker. I’ve been able to energize the coils and get the magnets to hold the switch closed using two 9v batteries in parallel. I checked the re…

Hello, I like to sell my advanced Homecockpit with MS FS2020 and many parts. Does anybody know, where is the best place to do this? I tried on ebay, but there is a limit on the price. Since my sim was new in 2020 over € 9500, the selling price will be € 6500 now. Thank you

Hi Guys, I have a spare 4k TV so was wondering.. Can I use it in Prepar3d to show the view out of the left window as it will be placed in that position. This is until I can get another TV for the right window.. If I can is it simple? Dave

Hi Guys, When flying in a home cockpit and using all instruments/switches etc what is the best view zoom level etc... I think I would like to keep a piece of engine cowling visible as in the real world..Buit nothing else Dave

  10. Hi, this part of the forum doesn’t seem to busy but figured I’d give it a try. I have some Logitech panels, honeycomb suite etc and I am throwing the idea around of building a basic sim pit panel. I’m looking to see if anyone purchased a pre-built panel template where I would be able to mount and install my hardware into, something similar to a c172 looking type, doesn’t have to be exact could be a generic template as I will use it for multiple aircrafts.. I’ve found one company that offers this but looking to see if anyones bought something similar and from where? P.S I’d make my own but I’m not a good carpenter whatsoever, so would rather purchase a p…

Looking for an old INS if possible or to build a replica. Any help is appreciated.

  12. This may be a dumb idea. I have a Saitek switch panel which works great but it’s not organized the way I’d like it to be. You see I am trying to set up my sim to more mimic a Piper arrow PA28R like my favorite aircraft… the JustFlight Arrow that I use exclusively in Xplane11. It’s similar to the real one I get to fly once in a while. What I would like to do is take the rocker switches and the gear switch out and mount them in different homemade enclosures and face plates so that I can locate them similar to the arrow switches and gear lever. I have some experience using the arduino Mega2560 with SimVim while working on a transponder build. So it seems like this …

Hi All I fly a Citation M2 and looking for a realistic home-cockpit that can be used with FS2020. The Citation has a Garmin G3000 glass cockpit, so I would want a home cockpit to have as close to this as possible, a G1000 would be ok. Looking online, I see a lot of home cockpits for sale for prop planes or 737/A320 size aircraft, even an F18 fight - but I cant seem to find anything that is business-jet class? Do you guys know of anywhere that sells home cockpits for a twin jet, with a glass cockpit environment? I ideally would be looking for flight controls (Yoke, Rudder etc) along with Radio/Autopilot panels. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  14. I've finaly got my new TPR pedals on friday the 10 th of sept. I've switched from my old trusted Satek rudder pedals and i really must says it's been a challege to getting used to how diffent the are to the Saitek pedals and I'm really hoping I haven't made a misstake to replace the pedals 🙄. I guess I have to give it some more time before I get used to them....at least I hope I will get there. But one thing that i regrett getting to my "mini home cockpit" is the smaller version of the Stream Deck. I've realized now after a couple of months that I've really could have got better use of the XL version, but maybe I'll replace it in the future. But for now Im finally (a…

  15. Hello guys, I've just bought the logitech g saitek pro flight switch panel and my purpose was to use it with my Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick + quadrant . I'm flying the A320nx, i manage to get it to work, but i can't map it inside the setting. It doesn't show up. I downloaded the Logitech Microsoft Flight Simulator Plugin. Any ideas why i can't map it myself? :) Thanks

I am considering a switch panel peripheral. I am looking at..... Honeycomb Yoke (preffered) Saitek Switch Panel Desktop Aviator Ogmech (off brand on Ebay) Seeing as many light functions don't have a specific key mapping how would I map a controller? Fsuipc perhaps? Thanks.

  19. This video helps answer the questions: Why are Flight Simulator, and Flight Simulator Components (or Flight Sim Gear) so expensive? The Video dissects some components and explains the basics of Fidelity and Electronics used in building Flight Simulators. Three examples tackle the cost of different types of electronics and how their quality, complexity and quantity can noticeably drive up the price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5qTL-VvI-I

  20. I'm heavily considering buying the FLT2 button/switch controller that's shown at the bottom of this page: http://derekspearedesigns.com/dsd-flight---flt1flt2.html I intend to use it as an inexpensive and non-display version of Garmin controls. It's a big pain in MSFS to turn those dials with a mouse, so that's why I'm looking at this, but wanted to know if any of you have purchased his stuff and would like to know your two cents.

  22. Hi looking for advice on alternatives to prosim software. It's become very expensive for an occasional armchair enthusiast /cockpit warrior. I'm trying to create, using help from on line tutorials, eg Heli Mechs 737diysim site and videos, Michael Schulz's Flight Deck videos, my own hardware which needs corresponding integration, and all seem to encourage Prosim. Must be alternatives to this, help?

  23. I'm looking at revamping my home cockpit setup. I am currently using a VolairSim chair. I have not been very happy with the ergonomics. My two largest complaints are that most rudder pedals only fit in a very flat and close position and the chair is rather low to the ground. The pedals are also very hard to change out, so I rarely move to my racing setup. I use primarily 3 setups for my simming: 1. Fighter/Tactical (DCS World): TM Warthog chair level center stick and left hand throttle, MFG crosswind pedals, possibly adding a couple WINWING panels in the future 2. Commercial (P3D/MSFS): Center desk level yoke/MCP, left hand CDU, right hand throttle (TM Airb…

G’day all. I am currently updating my 737 sim from an FSX/Aerosoft to a P3Dv4/iFly setup. I have most of the MIP mapped and working as expected. However, l am having an issue with a ‘stuttering’ speed and altitude reading on the PFD. This in turn affects engine power where l get continuous N1 fluctuations. Data transfer with buttons and switches are virtually instantaneous (I.e. they react instantly when selected) and the scenery is as smooth as a baby’s backside. I have been ‘troubleshooting’ for the past three days without any resolution. To add confusion, if l project the 2D panel to my screen, the speed and altitude readings operate as expected but my PFD still stutte…
