Hello, I have been on VATSIM for only about 4 hours, let me say that this is better than any add-on, free or commercial, that I have ever seen. This takes FS to the next level and it is a fantastic program/orginization and thank you to everyone who makes it work. The controllers are helpful and friendly, and this seems like a great learning tool for both pilots and controllers. FANTASTIC guys, its great to know that finally, someone other than Virtual Traffic can apprectiate those three point landings ;)CheersShea

Hello, I'm new to the forums. I'm in the military and currently deployed to Iraq. It's hard for me to get information, and I thought this would be a good place to start.I tried to connect to VATSIM this morning (night for those in the US)using Squakbox. It would connect for about 10 mins. Then disconnect with the following message "Error: Unauthorized client software (16)" does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or why I would be getting that error message? I've connected to VATSIM countless times back in the states with no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Thanks, Jordan

Hi pals,I have always crossed with the words VATSIM, SQUAWKBOX and PROCONTROLLER, but I never gave attention to them. Maybe because my connection was dialup and charged in a per-minute basis.Now that I have a 24-hour-ON connection, I am wondering what it is all about.Could someone explain it in a few words? or give me a link with the answers to my questions?Is it like real ATC? I mean requesting clearances, etc?How do we contact tower? Microphone, keyboard, what?Is it free? If so, do I have to download a sofware?Thanks for your attention,Silvestre Bittencourt

has anyone had any luck with avctuner.I tried it and it keeps crashing with a runtime error.thanks

So what is the best way to terminate a flightsay you are on an IFR flight plan and you must quit early. what are to do under the following conditions1 fp filed. halfway through a flight and you need to leave.2 fp filed , and you crash or technical issue with your computer3 crash on t/o or final.. does a flight plan close automattically

I hope this is a simple questionIf i am filing a ifr flight plan on vatsim and there is no atc at my departure airport, do I file my flight plan and take off then "airfile " " or open my plan" and open my plan with the first atc enroute, or do I contact an online atc and open before I leave the ground.what is the correct protocol .Thank you

Hi,Saw this and was happy to fill it in and contribute to the great guys who do a fine job providing us with online ATC....However, I had to stop.I came to a question that I was unwilling to answer - and the survey did not give me the option of passing over the question (not going to state the question as I don't want to start a war!)Can the team responsible for the survey please perhaps consider including the option to allow a user to "decline to answer" a question ?Just a thought.Cheers. When I start to start Squawkbox from within FS2004 I get the following error message:"Squawkbox was unable to initiate a multiplayer session. Squawkbox will not start."I am able to get on line so it is not my connection.Thanks for any suggestions.

This is a bit off-topic: I have never been in an airliner cockpit so I wonder if - like in Vatsim - pilots have the possibility to communicate with atc by typing on a keyboard (for instance in the case of strong interferences or mailfunctions)? Also, do they also have a push-to-talk button, or they can be permanently on-line with atc?Thanks (and dont laugh :)--------

Just wanted to thank everyone from LAARTCC who helped makethe ZLA Challenge so much fun.Pretty amazing how realistic it seemed.Loved the short GA flights. Hi all can anybody help me please I have just installed my own broadband connection thru telewest here in london it a 2 meg system but when i try to load up sb3 it will not start a muilti player session and close. If i run off my next door neighbour wirless then i connect and run SB3 with FS2004 as normal I have run the dxdiag utility and it comes up with " DirectPlay test results: Failure at step 9 (Creating Session): HRESULT = 0x80158185 (error code)" what is this and how do i correct my server issue.Thanks captainc

I tried logging in to VATSIM tonight and discovered to my dismay that it would not authenticate, hmm strange.. so I carried out a search of my email archives to check the password I was using was correct and in doing so found an email telling me I was permenantly suspended due to accidental double registration! It appears I have been confused with another person with the same name!The email mentions that I should use the other ID to authenticate however advised me to follow the lost procedure, which in turn tells me my password has been sent to another address which is not mine.Unfortunately the VATSIM support forum does not allow me to log on either therefore I have no m…

Can you file in the air? That is , I am at FL3500 and start SB. Can I then file or would that be a violation of rules. Sometimes the flights are too long.JimCYWG

So, I leave from an airport with no controllers. I submit my flight plan. When I fly to an area that is controlled would I then contact the controller there? Would they have my flight plan? When I submit a plan, who get's it? I ask as I am getting back into online flying.JimCYWG
