Hi,Generally RC4 ATC commands me too early to descents.iFly T/D points are miles away.When ATC insists on descending there is no way and no selection menu offering an alternative or to tell ATC that I want/need to descend later (no menu with "3-PD" or similar).The IAP Approach menu item is offered much later.Following RC4 descend orders in mountaneous areas often ends in too low flight levels and conflicts with mountains.What is your suggestion on how to handle this situation?Best regardsErnst

My RC has stopped giving voice commands---example-"climb and maintain (blank--no voice) squawk 2324"---it does this with all altitude commands/transmissions---seems like a file is missing or something!! Cheers and thanks for any help Dorn

I have been experiencing times when the controller suddenly says that I am off course when I am sitting on the red line on the simulator. I have traced this to the plan in RC being different from the one that was built with FSBUILD and loaded into the simulator. I have also noted that sometimes there is no rc4 file generated and am wondering exactly when the rc4 file is created.

Hi, I have been thoroughly enjoying Radar Contact, thanks to JD and everyone involved in its making and upkeep. I have been practising my flying procedures by carrying out numerous flights in a default 737 between KLAS and KRNO, and have gradually progressed from scathing feedback to mostly 'excellent, you'll put fisdu out of business'. However, I have just decided to test the B747-400 (with an addon freeware virtual cockpit), from Farnborough to Manchester. I have been given an initial altitude of FL60, and then as I switched to departure, I was given FL100 ! Can anyone please assist me as to why this would happen? Hi All, This might seem a newbie question. I am about to install FS9 onto a SSD with WIN7 This drive will be drive C:\ The SSD is not very large, and I would like to install all my scenery files to a different disk drive, this drive will be D:\. I know that FS9 can cope with that. My question is can I direct RC to find the scenery files on D:\ when building the scenery data base? Also can I install RC on the D:| as well. Thank you. navyman

I've noticed recently on longer flights that RC4 will skip a waypoint. My FMS or GPS shows I've hit them, along with my FSC9, but RC4 will be stuck on a waypoint and show an ever increasing distance from it. I sometimes won't notice it until about mid-decent, when the controller starts telling me I'm off course and to take a heading to the missed waypoint. Any way to prevent this or to tell the controller I didn't miss the waypoint? He gets pretty insistent that I'm off course when I'm not.

Hi all, I have just re-installed RC4 after a new pc build but for the life of me I can't remember what email address I used to register RC4 all those moons ago when it first came out. I have access to both email addresses I have used over the years I just don't know which is the one I registered with. I am running FSX with Fspassenger on one PC, Activesky 2012 and wideFS on a seperate laptop, and Plan-g and Radar contact 4 with wideFS on another laptop. Everything works ok but I highly doubt I have them all configured/setup properly to make the most of them. I currently run radar contact on a high end laptop with plan g but I am think activesky needs more horsepower since it takes several minutes to install snapshots before flight. I see frequent "slow downs" with radar contact but I am not sure if that is a resource issue with laptop or a symptom of poor fsuipc configuration. I am not new to flying or computers. Hiya, I've been having real trouble with this. Have unloaded all of the zip files, backed up existing voices to a folder and then tried to unzip MW files into Winwood as per instructions. My OS would not allow me the permission to do this (W7 64bit). So then I unzipped all of the files to a folder and then copied and pasted the contents of that folder to Winwood but it seems to get stuck, it makes no progress on pasting at all, doesn't ask me for permission to replace files etc. There's usually no issue pasting large selections of files on my machine, I've copied larger external GD backups to the internal HD before. Is there a way to relocate the RC window please? I mean, I know it can be moved after it's loaded, but I want to change the original screen coordinates as I have done with other panels. I have tried changing the coordinates in the FSUIPC cfg file, but it seems to get rewritten every time by RC4. Cheers, Keith

hi, I have 2 working Cpflight Comm modules (= 4 freq). but with RadarContact , there seems to be only 1 Comm module available for communications .Is there a way to switch from one module to the other so to have them both. My plane is IFLY 738. Thank for help. Pat

Hi JD or ronzie, I have a question re rebuilding the database. In another post, JD states '(download latest makerwys) then start rc, and click the rebuild rc scenery database button. do not run makerwys on your own. won't work. it will make things worse'. This is interesting, as I have numerous addons that require a database rebuild - RC4, FS Captain, DBS airport GPS, Super Traffic Board & probably others. It appears I have been wrongly assuming I could just run makerwys once after installing them all, and it would create a new file that all these addons would see. (I realise DBS aiport gps has its own updater, so I do always use that, but for FSC, RC…

Having an issue lately where ATC is issuing commands in the wrong order. For example I will get no instructions to taxi into position and hold. I'll then taxi onto the runway anyway and after him yelling at me he will clear me for takeoff. As I start the roll, he'll then clear me into position and hold. Reinstall perhaps?

I am having problems with radar contact not allocating runways for landing this worked fine until i restored my whole system. When i am nearing the airport radar contact asks me which runway i want to land on. Before the restore it always allocated the runway for landing and gave directions to the airport. Now it asks me to choose a runway and once chosen it gives me no vectors to the runways. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi Guys, I've been using RCV4 for a while now with no problems. On a recent flight to EHAM I received speed restrictions on the downwind leg of 230kts and 210kts on the base leg. I dont recall been given these before and thought it was an nice injection of realism. However I dont know what i did different in planning or setup to get these restrictions and was wondering if anyone knew what the key to it was? I ran the same route again recently and indeed got them again. Is this something that just appears at larger airports or is their a setting needed to get this every time?? Thrice I encountered a situation where radar contact freezes traffic infront of me and behind me as I wait to be cleared to the runway. I thought the traffic freeze only happens when on final etc, no when taxiing. A few hours ago I was in ATL, approaching 9L. There were three other planes ahead of me waiting. After I get in line, I notice the guy on the runway is not taking off at all. I run Traffic toolbox and find that he was put in slew by RC. I un slew it and he takes off. The next plane ahead of me wont move either. I have interact with Ai enabled but Ai chatter is disabled. I have a problem with the msstdfmt.dll file. Before I talk about the problem I want to state clearly that I have read and tried all the information provided in the pinned posts. For the most part I do not understand them I have been using my flight simulator for over 20 years and have used radar contact almost since its initial onset and development. I bought each new version as it came along and many times but two or three copies of each version during computer seven rebuilds etc. I know that you don’t need to buy new copies of the program each time you reinstall it but sometimes that is just easier than going through the long involved process of contacting JD. Based on the latest information, this topic was bound to come up...so I thought I'd go ahead and get it started :rolleyes: . Let me start by saying I completely understand JD's decision to shelve RC5 and respect his devotion to his family... got to keep the priorities straight ! Besides, after all these years, RC is still the best ATC program available for FS... especially at simulating real world procedures. With that said, there are a few issues with RC that I believe could be fixed with very little time and effort involved. I'm testing out pfpx, and trying to figure the thing. I've noticed that rc4 has no altitude, is it possible to set the altitude and other things from within rc4? Or must that be done via a flight planner? I'd also like my first question answered as well, what happens with no designated altitude?

Hi all I have a problem. I bought a new computer and reinstalled radar contact version 4.0.3675. The install went OK. When I tried to launch it after loading a flight plan I get an error message. Run-Time error '9' Radarcontact.rcv4module.initialize After checking all the other Run-Time error '9' posts and trying some of what they tried I am out of things to try. I have not tried uninstalling yet. I have noticed that my RC version 4.0.3675 is not the most current version. I believe the most current version is Version 4.3843. Check me if I'm wrong.
