Hi, Tried to use the seach functionality of the forum but couldn't find the answers, so I'll try it this way: - If approaching an airfield with no approach controller and my last waypiont in the flightplan is the VOR on the airfield, then when I request an IAP full approach which is granted do I then direcly fly the approach (assuming the IAF is reached before the mentioned VOR) or are you suppost to first complete your flightplan and only then fly the approach (which wouldn't make much sense)? I guess what I'm asking is that "cleared for the full approach" means you no longer have to follow your initial flightplan... - Again airfield with no approach controller …

Hi, I happened to have an engine failure during the flight and I had to land to the closest airport. Is there a way to inform the RC4 controller that I need to divert to a different airport? Thank you.

Hi everyone, Just reinstalled FSX and RC, unfortunately I get "run time error '5', invalid procedure call or argument" when I try to load a flight plan. I have the latest FSUIPC and I ran makerwys.exe from my FSX folder and it fails to make the runways csv files for some reason. Any help would be much appreciated! Regards: Zsolt

I fly the Airbus A320 and 21 and i noice that RC allways starts me down a long way before the TOD indicates. RC is reading the FS flight plan which indicates a descent much later than RC..eg, KLIT to KDFW indicates a descent starting at BYP, but RC starts about 20-25 miles before this. I am unable to follow the descent path for the airbus. If i wait after given the PD, i will never meet the required "start down now i need you level in 30 miles or less" Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hello. Is it possible to direct only the RC4 voices to my headset? I am using FS2 CREW and the voices can be directed to the headphones, same with Vox ATC ,but I can not seem to send just the voices of RC4 to my headphones. I have just installed RC4 so I am new to it,but I wanted to ask here before I start making changes to my sound card settings and screwing things up if it is not possible. Thanks. Dennis

Recently I picked up the only "big iron" I have ever attempted to fly - up to now, I've been content to fly the smaller craft, up to the Lear 45, but mostly singles and small twins. And I always used RC (now 4.3) for the plans. I created them using either the FSX internal planner or Flightsim Commander. But now I want to fly this very intricate aircraft, the MD-80, with its FMS. And the FMS creates the flight plans using internal nav data from its own Navigraph database. SIDs and STARs show up as you program the FMS. So now I'd like to find out from you guys what the best method would be for connecting Radar Contact to my MD-80. Someone told me to build the flight pla…

Hi RC4 does not seem to recognize my add on airports. For example I have UK 2000 EGSS (Stansted) and the runways are 22 / 04 but after rebuilding the scenery data base in RC4 it still refers to rwy 23 / 05 which is the default FSX airport. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks. Dennis

Good Morning All, I just bought UT2 and am wondering if RC will recognize traffic generated by UT2 for purposes of traffic avoidance, etc? From what I've read in the manual, it doesn't "see" default AI, but I can't find any reference (yet) to UT2. Anyone have this combination and know what the case would be? Thanks much! Glenn

I'm reinstalling RC4 here, where are all the updates from v4.0? Thanks, Dirk. PS: I forgot the correct order of installation: do I need to activate v4.0 first then step-update to 4.01, 4.02 and 4.03, or first step-update then activate?

When itry to connect to RC after starting my flight, the plane moves to the runway area then rises into the air "too low flaps, too low flaps" and crashes into the ground. I have tried rebuilding the scenery data base, but no luck. Any idea what could be going on here? Thanks.

If I file a flighplan with new navdata from Navigraph, can I still use Radar Contact? I mean, what if the new navdata contains a waypoint that is not recognized by RC. What happens then? Will I not be credited as having passed that wp, or will rc just not load that flight plan? For example. I am flying the PMDG 737. It is possible to update the navdata from Navigraph for the 737NGX. But as I understand, the FSX itself is not updated, just the NGX. So how does RC understand that?

I'm upgrading to a new computer so I can move from FS9 to P3D. I really like RC4 and was wondering,1) if it works in P3D,2) does JD support its use in P3D. Is here any special procedures to take installing into P3D? Also, I'm guessing I'll probably need a new registration key to install on my new machine - do I just email that request to JD directly? What info will he need? Todd

After upgraded my PC and performing a clean re-install of FSX and and RCv4 I find that I receive this message referring to "get departure information" when attempting to open a flight plan. All databases have been updated and makerwys has been run with the latest version 4.6.1.4. I created a flight plan in FSC v 9.21 with file path for RCv4 pointed to my Users\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\ location. The .PLN file is there but not the .RC4 file. The entries in r4 and r5 csv appear to be valid, although I do notice that the makerwys text file referred to in an older post in this forum dated November 2010 is not there. Can you offer a solution? Thanks…

I've been running RC for quite awhile with no problem, but today I got the error message "Component comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered...." The only thing I can think of is that I uninstalled a competing ATC program and my guess is that the comdlg32.ocx was used by that program as well and was involved in the uninstall routine of the other product. Anyway, I've done a forum search and I think I'd rather simply uninstall Radar Contact and then do a clean reinstall. I know I'll have to reregister the program but that seems the easiest way to go. Does anyone have a thought as to why not go this route to get RC back up and running? Th…

Hi, I'm doing all the RC4 lessons and have a couple of questions: 1) If ATC tells me to fly heading x do I fly that exact heading or do I need to compensate for (cross)wind (I guess when taking off and fly runway heading and when holding I do have to compensate for crosswind)? How is this for approaches when flying a procedure turn: do I fly the exact specified heading or so I compensate for wind? So basically when to fly the exact heading and when to compensate for wind? 2) When flying a SID that requires a turn directly after take-off when do you start turing? I assume that you first do the initial climb to a safe altitude. But at what altitude should you have sta…

I recently purchased RCV4 and while I really like the program, I'm experiencing problems reference topic title. I've searched this forum but have just ended up more confused as to what to do. Problem is when I use the " ; " key to save files it names the .flt and .wx files wth the name I choose but not the .rcd file. When I save the file using "control-shift-;" it saves the .rcd file but won't pull up the FS box enabling me to name the files. I am running autosave.dll and understand that there may be conflict. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

I am using FSX SYS 7 64 bit and the PMDG 737 -800 and the PC-12 with REX and find the FSX ATC annoying and frustrating, I would like to be able to fly IFR and Radar Contact appears to be able to provide close to a realistic ATC environment. My question is how will it effect my FSX performance and frame rates, at present with the 737 and REX I get an avg of about 24 frame rates and a smooth performance with an occasional lock up now and then. Will the addition of Radar Contact adversely my sim performance? Tess Sorry That is ress, not Tess!!

When I press CRTL-SHIFT-SEMICOLON (which is what the RC4 Keyboard command for "Save RC/FS State" is set to, RC4 saves a FLT file, an FSSAVE file, and a WX file in the directory that is set in ".FLT/.WX PATH" but not a RCD file. This has happened 3 every time lately. The environment is: FSX running on Windows 7 machine with licensed FSUIPC4 v 4.85, RC4 running on WinXP machine through WideFS. Everything in RC4 is apparently working except the RCD save, which is very frustrating when a problem happens in mid-flight. I am also running Pete Dawson's AUTOSAVE on the FSX system set to save interval of 180 sec and 10 to keep. Anyone else having this problem?
