Hi,I read a lot about RC and most of it were good critics. After flying half a year with the MS built in ATC I decided to buy RC. But unfortunately it seems to be a bit tricky for a newbie to use it. First of all I have two questions:1) How can I change the hot key assignments or how can I redirect the keys to buttons on my MS SideWinder FF pro?2) Is there a way to display the words spoken by the controllers as text like the built in ATC does? Sometimes it's hard for me to understand the controllers -- especially if German is my native language ;-) Many thanks,Thomas

Question 1} In regards to the error message "too many runways, try again", I have researched my problem on the forum and eventhough this has come up before, I cannot resolve this problem using the suggestions to the previous inquiries, (i.e. recompile NAV 3's database and do not include any add-on scenery). It seems to me the problems of duplicated runways comes from my "new AFCAD" airports (with overlays). In other words, if I use Bill Molony's KATL with numerous overlays, NAV3's data base (from the modified .bgl file) shows something like 22 runways. My question is this---since I prefer to keep my afcad airports for the improved AI traffic, will I have to use anothe…

I have adventure created using NZCH as departure airport. I get clearance to departure runway and then told to taxi into position and hold. Once in hold position I get no clearance to take off until I move aircraft around, either left, right, or back. Then I will get clearance. Any ideas? Thanks.jmike46

I started an adventure and scrolled to the atis frequency. It was 111.6. I tried tuning it in the 737 radio panel but the frequencies wouldn't go below 118.00 I then tried to have Otto tune it for me but she skipped Atis and jumped right to Clearance Delivery. What's wrong? Thanks. :-)

When I select a RC adventure from the FS2002 Select a Flight menu, sometimes I get a Flight Briefing page of which I am given the option to print out the flight plan and other times it jumps right to loading the file and beginning the adventure. How do I make sure I get the Flight Briefing page first all the time? Thanks. :-)

Hi everyone, After reading Maury Pratt's glowing review of Radar Contact using Pro Flight 2000 as a comparison, I was eager to give Radar Contact an evaluation in an attempt to fill the gap in FS. After a number of hours struggling with the poorly documented software package and then actually giving RC2.2 a try, I wonder was Maury Pratt's purpose was. I didn't find RC even close in either ease of use or clarity in ATC instructions. Some of the instructions from ATC operators, once you stumble across the right one, are very difficult to understand. Without meaning to downgrade any human we must be aware that not all voices are made for recordings. RC seems to be in…

Hello once again, I think I now know what led to the utter state of confusion for me. It seems to be centered on one main idea: If on the documentation it was stated that once you get the message RCv22 IS READY then simply hit CSI. Now you will see the following: Chatter On/Off Hold On/Off Traffic On/Off Your Coms Now if you hit CSI again you'll be presented with Pilot Request again. Then hit CSN and one of the following three items, usually the second, will be displayed: Com Nav (the first waypoint info is shown by default) RWY You can toggle between these two categori…

I've been using R.C. for about a year now and still find it fantastic and am looking forward to version3. I'm sure that some of what I going to suggest is too late for V3 but here goes.I'm not sure about the States but a typical European IFR clearance conversation would go like this.Aircraft, "Clearance Delivery this is (flt No.),(Aircraft type),Stand(parking pos.),with(ATIS ID),requesting clearance to(Destination)."Delivery,"(Flt No.) is cleared to destination via flight plan route, Climb initially (Ft. or F/L) squwak....,after departure contact (Facility)on (freq)"Normally you would also be told the SID to expect but the destination airport is not usually mentioned by d…

Hello to all of the group, We, copilot and myself, completed our first RC flight this early morning and I can just say it was sheer pleasure. I really appreciate all the wonderful help that I received from the people on this forum plus the exceptional support I receive from the JD group. I don't think I have ever had that support anywhere else. It is really unfortunate that I got so frustrated when all this started but I simply couldn't make the connection between the two top menus. Once the lightbilb came on all the rest was simply intuitive just as John had said. I really enjoyed this RC flight and look forward to making more. The initial 'stage fright' …

Hello John, There is no RWY 5R available as an aternative in RC. It does shown up on FS2002 as well as in FSNav but RC GND does not have this runway available. Seems non-existent as far as RC is concerned. Runway 23L-5R is the major runway at KPVD and 16/34 is used by the Pros only as a last resort as 34 takes the aircraft right over Cranston, RI and Providence, RI. All the other runways are indeed available.Blais

Hello John, When I export a flightplan from FSNav to RC a window pops up in the center of the FSNav screen requesting departing and arrival runways. I have always clicked, and moved to the left side of the dual-window popup, the runway that, to the best of my knowledge, would be used considering the present wind direction. I check the wind direction at the destination and use the same method for runway selection. I have never tried exporting without this practice but will give it a try. I started a new message topic as the original thread was getting to long. Thanks for your input. It's back to the FS & RC.Blais

I'm an advid RC user and would like to get my Airline Transport Pilot to expand my hobby with flight simming. I'm having troble passing the Check Ride test. I enter the holding pattern as instructed at Calverton VOR at 8000' and I go around and around and around. I don't get any further instructions from the CFI. Per her instructions: "fly 090 to Calverton VOR, right turn...you can enter the hold by flying 060 for one minute then intercept the VOR then turn right to intercept the radial" That's the last I hear from her!Reference SIMChart ISLIP, NY ILS Rwy 6 Long Island MacARTHUR.I need to get a response from someone that has PASSED the check ride for the Airline Tr…

Hello, I wonder if anyone can tell me what the meaning of certain RC displays indicate. GROUND directed me to taxi to R16 but I desire R23L. Therefore with the GRD:121.90 displayed on the RC Scroll Line I hit CSN and [<01> 325^ D:022 F:117.40] is displayed. (For some reason the web site message form will not allow me to use brackets around GRD:121.90 in this paragraph. If I do I loose some of the text, when reviewed.) I hit CSN again and the following is displayed:[16: 128^ D:000 035^] I have no idea of the meaning of this cryptic notation and I never did see at the 3rd line as noted in the Departure section of the 'Runway Line Information' document. …

How is RC going to work around all the AI aircraft and their use of ATC, will they be using RC too, or will they use the standard FS ATC? Two frequencies will be in use then and transmissions could be stepped on. Could you please reveal some details on this matter? We look forward to reviewing v3 as soon as it comes out! Thanks for all your years of devotion! Keep it up!Flyin' High,Matthew NiederbergerEditor in Chief FS Magazine (NL/:( www.fsmagazine.nl

Hi All,Can someone explain to me why RC most often does not select the arrival runway compatible with wind direction. It frequently happens to me that I am given vectors to a runway which results in my landing downwind. I know I can request a different runway (RC doesn't always respond by the way), but surely it is not standard practice to land downwind? I don't understand how RC interprets wind speed and direction when an adventure is compiled. What wind speed is needed for RC to select the appropriate runway? I also find that ATIS information, including the landing and departing runway is apparently ignored by the controller and I am given quite different QNH and landin…
