I have been experimenting with adding chatter to the Winwood directory and have been mostly successful. But the pointer $USA file isn't explained as much as I need in the manual. I know that $USA directs RC to use USA chatter when a particular directory is empty. So, it seems that I need to remove it from a Winwood folder if I have chatter in it (that part isn't mentioned in the manual but I figured it out). Here's my question -- Suppose I have Tower, Departure and Arrival chatter for an airport, say Denver, but no ground chatter. If I take the $USA folder out of the Denver (309) folder it seems that RC uses synthetic chatter for the missing ground chatter. Can I pu…

Hi again everyone,These are small things, but they would futher increase realism if implemented: (forgive me for nitpicking or whatever it's called...)- Make only US air carriers use flight numbers in group form in synthetic chatter. In reality, non-US carriers use callsigns such as "Finnair four three one", not "four-thirty-one"- Also, at non-US airports, the leading zero in runway designations is not omitted, e.g. "Finnair four three one, wind calm, runway zero four right, cleared for takeoff"- Make ATIS report transition level if not 180. At least I haven't noticed RC ATIS reporting it.Maybe in V4?Greetings,Ilari

During a flight from EGKK to EGPF, I was instructed to descend to 100 through 240-180. On reaching 100 I was placed in a holding pattern which completed three segments- then seemed to forget about me other than to remind me of the QH. I abandoned the flight after 30 minutes in the hold and being 64 miles north of EGPF and not had a vector instruction for some 15 minutes. Any ideas how this has occurred please. Just to be sure I flew the same route a second time and had the same result.

Using FSNav I was on approach for Rwy 8, Juneau Alaska. RC has the freq (109.90) but FSNav does not incorporate any localizer frequencies for either Rwy's 8 or 26. Is this an oversite in FS9 because I'm sure if RC has it, you would think it should exist in FS9(FSNav)?Regards,Tom

  6. Hi All,I'm having some minor problems with my version of RC 3.10. I set up a flight from KATL to KSTL, and all ran well until after take-off, when tower handed me off to departure, I received a response to contact approach beginning with 'I say again....'. I wound up cancelling the IFR. This has happened on more than one occassion, albeit not often.I'm using the default radio frequencies in the Controller Info section, and in the Options box, I have the following checked:Tune on contactPlay pilot wav'sChkpt dinginteract w/AIAny ideas on what can be done?Cheers,Mike T.

I use Radar Contact a lot, and it's just so nice to have some interaction. However, Im curious about one thing.I was on a flight from Halifax, N.S., to Sydney, N.S., direct via VOR.However, ATC vectored me everywhich way to in the right direction.THen they handed me to MOncton Center, and it told me to proceed with own navigation. Now, I must be kinda ignorant of ATC procedures, but ...why do they vector me so far off my flight plan?In other words, why bother loading the flight plan into FS if RCvectors me around.???Again, I just may be ignorant of procedures, and I dont really need the FS flight plan, but is this normal???And will ATC-RC eventually get me there??I hope thi…

absolutely! but i will pick runways for departure based on length and wind direction. that may not agree with the runway fs9 is usingsame for arrival, except, runways with an ils approach are given preference. so i look at the best ils runway, based on wind and length, when there are more than one ils runway. if there is only one ils equipped runway, that is always the one i choose.you can always request a different runway, so if you want a different one, no problemin v4, i'm able to see what runways fs9 is using, and i will always choose that one, regardless of wind, equipment or lengthjd

I don't presently own Radar Contact, but have been reading the forums lately, and the idea of some ATC that knows whats going on controlling AI caught my eye!So what I am wondering (or maybe its already implemented) Is there anyway to force the AI traffic into doing an instrument approach all the time? As an example, I fly alot of sim in the Hawaiian Islands, if there is a westerly flow, the real approach is an LDA to 26L, and sometimes they sidestep into 26R as well. Because the conditions in the sim warrant a Visual approach, they send them in right through the terrain to the North of Honolulu to 26R, and a straight in Visual 26L over the city... I figure if you could f…

How do you include an alternate airport/s in FSNavgator flight planner? Wouldn't tacking them on at the end just confuse the FSVav flight planner as to what your destination is? In other words wouldn't it think that the alternate is the final destination. There's got to be some way to identify the alternate as an alternate.Thanx for any help you can give.Bob

Hi: I am thinking about purchasing Radar Contact and wanted to know if it's possible to specify how far away from my destination airport I will be turned onto final apporach or how far away I will be routed directly to the airport. In FS2oo4 I am always routed direct when I'm 89 t0 100 miles out. Since I fly small single engine aircraft I would like to continue flying to my other checkpoints instead being routed as a large jet aircraft. Also are there more voice packages for the controllers and pilots than in FS2004? I getting bored with the few that are in FS2004. Thanks....Al

Hi.First of all, I;m sorry when this has been asked already, but I coudn't find it in the forum.Since version 3.1 I miss runways in RC.Schiphol has still only 36 (3x) and 18 ( 3x)06-24 and 27-09 are gone.I already tried with the latest airac cycle, but only the 3 runways.Someone who knows how to correct this, or is there already a updated list, which I can copy ?And second: is it possible to remove runways only for take-off?Rwy 36r in Amsterdam is never used for take-offs and RC wants me to take-off from 36 R everytime again.ThanxJos

I have just completed a flight from KILG- KPVD using RC. The flight was ok until on approaching the area of KPVD when without warning I was instructed to descend from 280 to 100 and to be level in 30 miles or less. I descended at 3000 ft per minute, having great difficulty in getting my speed off from mach 8.1 to 250 knts. As you can imagine I didnt quite make it and received the inevitable b......... when receiving the flight critique. Is this a normal instruction or was there something in the flight plan that might be the problem. Also can someone please give me the formula for calculating the descent rate.

ATC HumorThe controller working a busy pattern told the 727 on downwind to make a three-sixty--do a complete circle, a move normally used to provide spacing between aircraft. The pilot of the 727 complained, "Don't you know it costs us two thousand dollars to make even a one-eighty in this airplane?" Without missing a beat the controller replied, "Roger, give me four thousand dollars' worth."A DC-10 had an exceedingly long rollout after landing with his approach speed a little high. San Jose Tower: "American 751 heavy, turn right at the end of the runway, if able. If not able, take theGuadalupe exit off Highway 101 and make a right at the light to return to the airport."Un…

I just recently upgraded my system from Win 98 to Windows XP Pro. After reinstalling Radar Contact, I am noticing a few minor glitches. The first is that the controller voices seem to be quite playing back quite slowly. I remember when the new version of RC came out, there was some talk about that but I never had a problem with it so I didn't pay any attention to the fix. I do notice on the web page something regarding priorities. Not sure what that means or if it has to do with this problem. The next is that there appears to be a glitch in the altitute wave files as the controller, upon requesting clearance, instructs me to climb to flight level 50. I assume that is suppo…

Hello JDRC has started to do a strange thing now. When I 'm sitting at an airport and load flt pln in RC and hit start, RC takes my plane clear around the world. Flying somewhere over South Africa. I did'nt know RC had the ability to take me around the world at sub sonic speed. The thing that really upsets me is that RC don't even give me the chance to sit back and enjoy the sights on the 6000 mile journey it takes me on. Any suggestions?? I think RC been hitting my personal stash of crack again.Bill M

I have my 737 set up using Project Magenta and Radar Contact on a separate computer from Flight Sim.Im using GoFLight's advanced autopilot on the FS computer.Does anyone know of any conflicts this may cause??It appears to work OK, but last night my RC pilot got stuck saying "Delta 206, roger" over and over again.Otherwise, it's a pretty sweet setup, especially having RC on a computer separate from Flight Sim.ThanksJohn WhiteNewburgh, IN

I have had Radar Contact for some time now and remember getting a number of crossing restrictions when descending into airports.I have not received any lately and was wondering if I have inadvertantly stopped them. Would someone be so kind as to refresh my memory as to what controls those restricitons? Also, how do I tell what "build" number I currently have? Thanks in advanceRoger Hollands

As RC does not vector you for AI, I find it difficult to operate around them (getting overtaken on approach, ect...)Right now I just go into slew mode until things clear up, better suggestions??thanks
