I am close to a purchase decision, but am hesitating because I noticed your current navigation data is dated May 06. Current cycle is 6Jul06, which brings me to my question: Is FSB navdata based on DAFIF data? If so, what are your plans when the DAFIF data is withdrawn from public access 1Oct06?Thanks in advance.

Hey guys. I tried searching through the forums but I'm still stuck. I get traffic alerts from ATC of other aircraft but the alerts give me the wrong direction, wrong altitude, wrong type, etc... Sometimes the traffic isn't even there. I've also had ground traffic run into me while taxiing. Also.....after turning off the runway and contacting ground, the pilot might come on (Delta 1121 of 38R on J3) but the aircraft is actually on taxiway Kilo. I found one post where it said the Traffic Range in the FSUIPC file should be changed from 40 to 0. I did that but don't know if it works yet. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hello there,I've been using RC for many months now and I'm really satisfied. Congrats guys!AFAIK, in the real world controllers will try to give you a "fly direct to xxx" (waypoint) clearance, if traffic permits. This will shorten the flight time and reduce fuel burning, and this is definitely important. So I just want to ask if is it possible to include this kind of (random?) clearance in RC in a future update. I think that it will give us a bit of more dynamism in our flights.I know that I may request that clearance by myself, but it's not the same thing... ;)ByebyeStefano

Hello,on nearly all flights I make with RC4.01, when I am descending to say 10000 ft and I am at say 12000 ft, I get instructed to pick up a heading about 90 degrees from the one I am flying, and to resume my navigation when reaching those 10000 ft.It usually happens that when I have almost reached 10000 ft the turn has just initiated, so no use that I continue deviating 90 or more degrees away.Is there a way to avoid that annoying turn? Or at least to have it happen not everytime but once in a while? Thanks,James

JD,Great job with RC4 as always. I do however have a question regarding procedures. Is it possible to depart an airport VFR and request your clearance while airborne in RC. I know RC is always able to give a clearance regardless of where one is planning to depart from.Scenario:If I choose to do a VFR flight from point A to B, but my conditions enroute change to IFR, am I able to file an IFR FP airborne? Thanks for your assistanceKroswyndFlight Dispatcher (Piedmont Airlines)

Is it possible to have a pilot voice response added to RC that says something along the lines of "For Pete's sake, I'm doing it!" or "Give me a break - I've only got one pair of hands!" or similar other messages?I ask because after being asked to descend or to turn to a new heading, and acknowledging, within 10 seconds the controller will be on saying either "watch your altitude...." or "I say again turn to 320 deg..."After one such altitude admonition, when the a/craft was already descending and I was confident I would reach the new level in 30 miles, I replied "unable" just to be awkward. That shut her up! ;-)Iain

Radar Contact 4 is great and I use it constantly. I have one question concerning speed of the speechI have the latest patch and I have all of the sliders set to max for speed of talking for all categories. The speed of speech for anything dealing with my flight is still much slower than the speed of speech dealing with all AI flights. Is this correct? The speed of speech for the AI flights is more like what it really is. Is there anyway to speed up the rate of speech for my flight to match that of the AI flights?Mike

Flightplan from KISP to KMSY, during decent from 31000 towards 24000 the error message emerged: "fsuipc_wait, can't get D008 to change from 59916046 always 59916046"I had to force RC to close and took her in from there, but thought I would report this to you guys. I recently had a computer crash and the IT guy who recovered it and reloaded Windows etc. put a slightly different path in for Flight Simulator flight plan files (ie C:Document and SettingsDonMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Files). Now, while flight sim itself has no hassles with that (ie it opens them up just as usual), Rcv4 doesn't like it..when I start it up(Rcd4) and minimize it there is message on the screen where I'm told that it cannot write to the path where they (Flight Simulator files )reside and therefore cannot save .rcd files. However, while I have done some looking around in the Rcv4 folder I cannot locate where this particular entry is. Appreciate uour advi…

Anyone having trouble flying tutorial five? I reach OMN(VOR) then the sim stops. It has done it twice & it is not the "pause at distance" feature because i cannot regain control without shutting down. I seem to remember something about the departure freqs must not be the same as the arrival freqs which is the case in this tutorial as it is a round robin i.e. KPIE to KPIE. I have checked for heat but its not that. Any suggestions please.CheersRod

I know this prolly has been covered somewhere in some thread on this forum, but I can't find it, if it is. At any rate, I think I've forgotten some cardinal rules about formulating waypoints at the end of a flight plan. Is it true that one should not have any waypoints after about 40nm from your destination airfield. The reason I ask is that I flew two flights today, both of the flight plans had several waypoints past the 40 mile mark and clean up to about 5 miles from the destination airfields. Then on both flights, ATC vectored me away from the airport until I had to cancel the IFR plan as it was getting to be 50 and 60 miles away from the airfield in both cases. I was …

  16. JD et al.,May I be so bold as to ask for a feature for the next update of RCv4? Basically, I run RCv4 over a WideFS connection from a WideClient PC. What I would like to see is a permanent entry for the path to the makerwys.exe file. Perhaps recorded in the RCv4 ini file or something. Most of us running WideFS have permenent drives/shares mapped between the WideServer and WideClient PCs, so recording the path of the initial execution of "Rebuild Scenery" should be possible. For instance, I have a "Z:" drive on my WideClient PC mapped to my E: drive on the WideServer PC where FS9 is installed in E:Flight Simulator 9. So every time I update the RCv4 scenery cache I en…

Hi, I just installed RC4 and Im having my first flight with it. The problem Im having is this: on the ground, the time between a keystroke in the ATC menu and the response of the program is OK. But once Im in the air, RC4 doesnt respond swiftly after I choose to acknowledge and contact the next controller. Once I pressed '1' a few times within 5 minutes without response, 10 minutes later those few keystrokes are processed (not always though). Other modules/addons arent responding well anymore. FsPassenger, FsNavigator take more time to process requests. Also my computer isnt responding well anymore. When I have FS9 in windowed mode, running RC4, start/taskbar arent availab…

Hi all,I assume this isn't featured yet, as I haven't seen it, but will the next version of RC include instructions to adjust airspeed on approach to maintain separation? For example if a turboprop was on finals and I'm in a 737 I could get an instruction to 'reduce to approach speed'. If the situation was reversed could I be asked to 'maintain xxx knots until x miles from the runway'.I've heard such instructions being issued, and I know that within RC I have had aircraft ahead of me on final that have been a little too close for comfort. Just a thought anyway!

First I would like to point out that my impression is that the instructions for descent comes somewhat early. Then a problem about this. I was flying over the alps towards Milano at 12000 ft. Still well within the mountanious area I was given a descend to 6000 ft. That would result in flying directly into a mountain. I was descending at 1000 ft/min in the F1 Beech Baron 58.A slower rate might have cleared me over the mountain but shouldn't there be good marginals? And why not waiting with the descent until I get closer to the edge of the alps?

Just supposing for a moment that I haven't RTM.Upon hearing "Resume own navigation" from the controller I would revert to my filed plan, but when I do that I get a smack from the controller 'cos I've strayed from the heading he assigned. So what IS "own navigation" if it isn't going where I wanted, via where I wanted, according to where I'd planned and filed? On a recent flight RC4 totally ignored my flightplan, sending me in a straight line that knocked nearly an hour from my route. The only time I touched the FMC was to update the waypoints in case I ever got near enough to my planned course to use it. Which didn't happen.I know 'ATC Rules' (see, I have RTM) but is it no…

Hello,Had a good flight going in the LVD 767 from SBGR (Sao Paulo) to SCEL (Santiago) until ATC instructed me to start descent. At about 100 nmfrom destination I ended up in the Andes mountains, some higher than 18k. Anyway the flight would have ended in disaster, so I discontinued as I was to low and without any charts. I used Routefinder and Fsbuild to create the flightplan. My question is what is the proper way using RC4 in such an environment. I must have missed something. Thanks Helmut
