So, what's the compatibility of RC4 with the speeds, altitudes and particularly the ATC's decent instructions with regard to the Concorde? Any problems or special settings I need to pay attention too when I finally fly this new bird?Randy Jura, KPDX

Yesterday I was giving what sounded like a direction to head direct to a waypoint at 15,000 feet. I had taken off from LAX and was heading 085, which was very close to the LNAV programmed track towards my first waypoint, TRM, and I was climbing through 13,500. It seems I heard something different the other day too. Are there some different phrases in 4.2?

I have about 30+ .rc4 files in my folder, one corresponding to every .pln I've processed through RC since obtaining it. I know one can save the flight at any point and resume later, but these are created automatically it seems. What are they for and when should I use them? If I have both a .pln and a .rc4 file with the sam name, should I use one over the other?

Why is RC4 telling me to go in exactly the opposite direction from a flight plan compiled by FSBuild? For example I leave Edinburgh to go south to Bristol (using the TLA 6D SID) on a heading of 184 and RC4 keeps telling me to fly 005. I'm flying VNav and all the instruments are showing the correct course and the a/c is following the magenta line.Any ideas please?Regards,Paul

G'day,After having this struggle with getting my RC4 to work, flying became much more interesting using RC4 and thereto ATC. GREAT PROGRAM/ADD-ON!I was enroute from KLIT (Little Rock) to KDFW (Dallas/Forth Worth) and was on my final approach for runway 17 L approximately 3 miles out, just waiting for landing clearence. Great I though, lined up - nice weather and excellent flying conditions so I decided to look around to see how things look like, as my speed on my Bombardier where reducing to approximately 130 knots and I where in the middle of the glideslope, just started the descent from 2.500 ft. So, I did change my view and panned to look at my plane at front. GEEE! UA…

Quick Question:I just read the article in computer pilot on Radar Contact. I am considering buying it but wanted to know - does R.C. support SIDS & STARS? In other words, will it actually ask me to Fly the X SID or the Y STAR? I am looking for a product that will specifically do this because I fly the PMDG 737, and not having this option in the FS9 ATC is rally unrealistic. Can anyone answer my question? Thanks,Chris Catalano

I thought I understood this but could use a clarification:I created a flight plan departing KONT today. The first waypoint was Gorman VOR (GMN) abut 70nm northeast. I did this because I wanted to depart using a departure procedure and GMN is one of the waypoints exiting the DP. So the route was:KONT (POM GASKI KELSE) GMN ...etc (brackets were not included in the flight plan in RC but were the waypoints on the DP)On the controller menu I selected Dep Proc Alt Restrictions. There is a crossing restriction at GASKI -- "stay below 9000'. I chose Alt Restriction because I knew I would need to level off at 9000 for a time before resuming my climb to FL200 to meet this alti…

JD et al,I just realized that since installing RCv4 soon after its debute, I've had Holding set to weather but I don't recall ever being issued a hold no matter how lousey the weather looks outside the aircraft. I can recall one approach recently into Paris with the PMDG 747 with thunderstorm and turbulance all-around but still I was immediately granted the full ILS approach. I do fly with ASv6 enabled and it, and RC4 are installed on my WideFS PC. Could you please describe some of the criteria by which RCv4 will issue a hold based on weather so I can tell if it's actually working in this mode? Or, describe just how bad the weather has to be for hold to issued? As alwa…

Instead of the usual question or complaint thread, I thought I would tell JD and crew one thing that really like about RC. I personally prefer to fly the big-irons (the more complicated an aircraft, the better.) Obviously this has me cruising b/w 30K and 40K feet in the upper two controlled airspaces. One thing I always found very very annoying aboug FS's ATC was hearing controller guidance to a little cescna flying a 2k feet while I'm 5 miles above him in another controller's airpsace. I like how RC fully and properly separates the AI chatter properly based on which controlled airspace I'm in.Thanks again guys, keep up the good work and I can't wait for FSX and RCv5.…

JD,Maybe this stuff might not make V5 but for the future could you consider making the following enhancements?1) When a controller issues a descent clearance and then follows it by saying 'I need you level in 30 miles or less' can you make this a user-based decision? - ie if Otto has the comms he always agrees to the restriction, could you change it so that the user makes the decision to acccept/reject the instruction?2) Include some functionality that allows the user to request more track miles when being vectored for approach in case the user finds themselves too close and too high to make a safe approach?thanks,Alan

Hi all,I've suddenly noticed that I have a problem which seems to have occurred since installing v4.2 and that is that I do not hear all the ATC conversations with other a/craft.I have "AI chatter" and "Interact with AI" checked. I have UT and PAI aircraft and schedules and traffic set at 80%. However, going up to 100% did not seem to make any difference.I don't often fly in and out of large busy airports but today I flew from Manchester and although there were plenty of aircraft parked I only heard one other ask for clearance after me. I then departed for Cork in Ireland and although by pressing Ctrl + W I could see a fair number of other aircraft flying around me I only…

creating a log is easy and fun :-) 1) launch rcv4 - make sure you're shortcut is pointing to the most current version2) click debug - it is imperative that you click debug, before you do anything else. for instance, with debug on, and you load a .pln - i get a lot of information about the data on YOUR machine regarding the .pln3) load the .pln - if you are having a problem with a particular plan or all plans, this is a must do4) set your options - as necessary5) make sure fs is running6) click start rcnow, do what you would normally do. fly the .pln - fly it to completion if possible.then zip up the .log that you specified in step 2. atta…

Hello all,Having a slight problem with hearing no AI traffic calls at all on any frequencies other than CTR/Center.My transmissions are fine and controllers ATC is fine also throughout 7 test flights so far.In depth; On departure, from the gate up until being handed over to CTR and on arrival at the other end after being handed off to APP, I do not hear any other AI traffic.I can see all traffic at the airports in front and behind taxiing. On departure approaching the holding point, I may be behind two aircraft at no3 - yet TWR gives me a line-up clearance. I do not hear anything from the TWR to the other two ahead but they take-off in turn in silence. As soon as I am hande…

Hello everybody,I'm not that active on the forms, so sorry, if somebody already asked this question if so, redirect this to that topic.I use radarconctact v4.01 as we speak i'm waiting for the new activation code for v4.2.During the use i noticed that the call: KL899 heavy our Delta67 heavy (because it are heavy's B747-400 and a 767)is not called. Also for me, when i fly the LVLD 767 our PMDG 747-400 i also not called heavy. And all the other heavy's are not heavy for Radar contact. In the aircraft.cfg the line:Heayv=1I'm from the Netherlands/Holland, so my usually homebase is Schiphol Amsterdam Airport (EHAM) i fly a lot of charters, to spain,Greece, italy, Canary Islands…

Just been reading a report by a guy called (I think) Jim Campisi who visited the Microsoft Aces studio in Redmond where FSX is being developed. Quite a few interesting new things but one important point he noted was that the team have done very little with the default ATC! So, no competition for RC!One thing I would like to see in v5 is, if at all possible, a little more ground control to cover a situation I have met a couple of times recently at busy single runway airports, such as London Stansted (EGSS). This is where the active changes a few minutes after firing up the sim and while taxiing out to the "new" active end I am confronted, face-to-face by the last arrival o…

When I'm operating at an airport operating dual runways, RC will always give me the landing runway for departure, and vector me to the take-off runway for arrival.I know I can request different runways, but is there a way where I can land on the landing runway and take-off on the take-off runway without having to request all the time?

I'm running version 4.01 (4.0.3737). When I attempt to upgrade to the latest version (4.2) I get an error message when attempting to run the .exe file. The message indicates that the file rcv3.dat cannot be found and that RC cannot continue. End of upgrade attempt.Ideas?

I'm sure this topic has been covered in other threads within AVSIM, but I wanted to ask if there is a permanent solution to the ATC.dll problems that cause CTDs while using RC? I have had several CDTs on 2 particular routes and the ATC.dll was the culprit each time. Thank goodness you kind folks gave me a workable solution to "get around" the issue for now, and that is to reactivate the FS ATC but keep the sound down to almost nil. Although the FS ATC window would pop up at regular intervals, I was able to actually complete one of those previously problematic routes this evening without a hiccup in the sim.

Often when receiving a higher or lower altitude, RC4 tells me to 'transition through' a certain altitude. What does that mean in practical terms? When I hit that mentioned altitude what do I do to mark the transition: waggle my wings, flash my lights, honk the horn or what?

I am just finishing the reading the Radar Contact Manual. I fly the PMDG 737 series. I read the section in the manual about holding patterns. I am really comfortable in setting up a holding pattern in my FMC as long as it is based on a fix. I know how to do that. But in the RC manual on page 54, it says I may be asked to perform a hold at a preset DISTANCE from a fix (it says "cleared to the Memphis zero-five-five radial, four zero mile fix, hold northeast.") I know how to do a hold once I get to KMEM, but how do I program the FMC to perform the hold at 40 DME from KMEM? The FMC only seems to allow me to select the FIX (KMEM) the radial (055), the length of the pattern (2…

Hi jd,I've got the email from the Google group and downloaded the update. After replacing the old exe with the new one, RC4 is unregistered again. Is it supposed to be like that? If so, no problem, I'll send an email requesting a new key. Thanks in advance for your reply.Regards,Daniel

Hi allAs a relatively newcomer to Radar Contact 4, I am very impressed with the product, although a couple of points I have noticed that I can't find answers to on this forum by searching. After requesting clearance, I hear the clearance instructions (initial climb, squak codes etc). I then hear "readback correct" BEFORE my aircraft actually reads back the instructions. Surely this should be after I have actually repeated the clearance instructions?Generally, I cannot contact ground for start-up permission. I hear AI traffic calling as being ready for push, and are told to push and start at their discretion. I seem to go direct from clearance to taxi instructions, bypassin…

At some occasition I have experienced this with RC4. I'm told to wait for another plane before taking of. But then nothing happens. Therefore I enter the runway and are told that I was supposed to wait. But that wait seems to be something wrong since it never seems to end.
