I've bought AirHauler which I am using with fs9 and Radar Contact. RC worked for me the first time, but now I get an error message 'IPC Timed Out All Retries' when I try to start RC after loading the flight plan. The sequence I go through is (1) set up Air Hauler, which automatically starts the Sim, (2) Create manually the flight plan in FS9, save and load it, and (3) minimise FS9, open Radar Contact, load the plan in RC and start RC. I then get the error message. Can someone help please?Bob Williams

The text in the RC display screen is unreadable. Some of the characters are boxes or numbers instead of letters. This is the first time I have come across this problem. Help would be appreciated.Regards eejay

Hi good Folks,Although I have read the manual I am not quite sure how the "chatter engine" for pr-recorded chatter files really function.I have three questions:1) For the purpose of rationalize the need for chatter files all folders belonging to a certain country can be linked to a coherrent country folder. Is this also valid for the OCEANIC FIR folder(s) - i.e Can those folders also be linked to a country folder when the latter contains the ATCO sub-folder ?2) Is it possible to have airport specific chatter folders by naming Winwood folders with the appropriate ICAO codes and have them canned up with chatter files in only the sub folders; app, twr, gnd , cd and …

Good idea JD and maybe I can help with the pronunciation issue. I work for the national television and radio broadcaster in Australia (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) and we have a department specifically for correct pronunciation (we're raked over the coals by the public if we get it slightly wrong!). It uses an international standard for scripting pronunciation which may be of use here. It is reproduced below:Capitalised words are accented eg:Australia = os-TRAYL-yuh (NOT uhs-TRAY-yuh OR aws-TRAY-lee-uh OR uhs-TREL-yuh) Accomplish = uh-KUMP-lish Beijing = bay-JING (j as in 'jet', not zh as in 'beige')Pilatus = pil-AH-tusAmir Farid = ah-MEER fah-REED (pianist)Pho…

During a takeoff from TNCA/Rwy 11 (Aruba), I was instructed to "Line-up and Wait". I positioned the aircraft on the rwy (magnetic heading 113*) and waited for 27 minutes but no takeoff clearance was provided. I took off anyway fully expecting to be chastised by ATC but the ATC communications that followed were normal departure vectors. Is departing without clearance from an A/P such as TNCA (not FAA controlled) normal ?Thanks,Zach

Hiya JD and all,I'm using a prgram called around the world in 80 flights from First class simulations, and their aircraft in the program is a Lockheed Electra which doesnt have a transponder. Is there a way for me to use RC still? A long winded way around it is to start the flight with another aircraft and then obtain clearance and squawk, then switch to the Electra, but this isnt ideal. Also, is version 5 of RC out yet or is it still being worked on?Cheers,Rory

I saw a similar post here last week in which the person was asking if he could use VATSIM for the first part of the flight and then use RC. My question is similar (but with no complaints on the GUI...).Here is what I would like to do.- Load a flight plan- Use VATSIM for ATIS, Ground and Tower- When tower hands me off to center (or more likely unicom since usually no one "working" departure or center positions on VATSIM) start using RCIn other words, can I start RC enroute on a flight plan or must I start on the ground? Must I be over a navaid or can I simply be anywhere on the flightplan.I know VOXATC can do this. I'm hoping RC can as well. Final question. Any plans …

I have a question regarding the freqencies at EGKK.As you can see in the accompanying screenshot, the frequency for ATIS is missing. I have edited the f4.csv file with notepad to add an ATIS frequeny. However, RC4 doesn't seem to recognise the frequency? The frequency 136.55 can be tuned with the radio.I have UK2000 Gatwick Pro scenery for EGKK. I always rebuild the scenery database after I install a new scenery addon.Jon

i had an old version of RC years ago, just now installed v4 and flying it for a few days now. most impressive! jd has already addressed my first question, i gather v5 will provide detailed taxi instructions, for now i'm just calling up the airport diagram from my jeppesen charts and navigating on my own.but i can't find any threads on my second question: why am i being handed off from ground to tower while i still have a lot of taxiing between me and the assigned departure runway? i thought ground was supposed to hang with you until you were holding short and only then hand off to tower. can someone help me here?thanks!

Hi, tried a search for related posts to my problem but cant find anything (probably because "AI" is too short a search parameter for some reason)The problem I'm having is that with radar contact running, everything functions as normal with the AI until I'm approaching the active runway for takeoff. As long as i stay tuned to the ground frequency, all the other traffic will taxi and take off as normal but as soon as i press "1" and start to monitor the tower frequency then the next aircraft ahead of me to enter the runway will freeze in its hold short position.I've tried all sorts to fix this including running ai smooth and running various percentages of traffic. i've rul…

Hi,lately I'm flying to and from the a.m. airport which have rwys 17,35,19,1. Of course I am always vectored to rwy 17 or 35 which, in real life, are closed. Is there anyway, apart from requesting another runway, to make rwys 19 and 1 the only ones that RC recognizes? Is there a way to tweak the db files? Thanks

Hi JD,A while back, in a RC5 features request thread, the discussion of making an option to have RC5 use a specific audio device such as USB headphones instead of the default audio and speakers was discussed, along with many other requested features. As I previously mentioned, the selection of a specific audio device for ATC is an existing option in FSX. But, that feature discussion indicated that you weren't sure how to program this feature.I just noticed last night, that Flightsim Flight Keeper (FSFK) now has this same feature in its options and it works great. It is merely a dropdown box listing your currently available audio devices and you select one.I would highl…

Just updated my RC4 database and makerwy. Also added AirNav FS Live Traffic X. Now when I initialize (hit "Start RC) RC the acft moves several yards away from the gate. Have double checked to make sure I'm at the same airport the flightplan calls for. Any suggestions. Also, JD, I'd like to provide some updates voices for RC for me and everyone, is there a new RC program to do so like there was in the past.Jeff EvenRocklin, CA

Hi, I had until fairly recently been running my FS9 on XP 32, and with it I was using the quick sound switch program to manage my two soundcards, allowing me to have RC4 through my headphones and FS through the speakers. (http://www.quicksoundswitch.toflo.de)Anyway, I've now moved to my FS installation to Vista64 and this program no longer works. There is a new version called "vista audio changer" that should work in the same way......but doesn't. With the original program, I started fs9 with one sound card selected.....minimised it.....switched to second soundcard.....opened radar contact. Job done. Under XP the programs would use whichever sound card was selected as def…

I have a flight plan from EGTG to EIDW, cruise altitude is FL260, so why does radar contact keep saying that the cruise is 3,000 feet? I've got the same flight plan loaded into RC, this isn't very good.

I have been using RC off and on for a couple years, switching back and forth between online and offline flying, Im really looking forward to v5 which I will be purchasing for sure. I like many others have an idea, not sure if this has been mentioned before and I realize that not all ideas are possible but what about having an option for RC5 to connect to liveatc.net when you enter an area with coverage, I like the pre recorded chatter files but a live link would be kinda neat. 23. Is there a way, like there is with the standard FSX air traffic control, to delay contacting the next control centre? What I mean is, say on a long flight, where one may not actually want to be stuck to their PC all day or night, in the FSX air traffic control, you can aknowledge the hand over to the next control centre, but not actually have to contact them. This way, later on, you can get in contact with the next centre, which will most likely be a different one and then get your decsent, then vectors in to final apprroach.Doesn't seem to work with rc, as they 'say again, contact ......' even know I acknowledge. How do they know I haven't contacted them ;)

In real life, do controllers assign STARs, are they requested by pilots, or are they less often used than we imagine? The reason I'm asking is because there doesn't seem to be a way to use procedures on the arrival end in the same way one can on departure, i.e. the controller letting you alone to presumably follow your procedure without bugging you about your flight plan.I have airplanes with FMCs that have taken a lot of effort to figure out, and it would be nice to have a way to use RC with the STARs they have loaded in them. Or am I just missing some feature? And in case someone wonders if this is criticism, no, it isn't. I like the product very much and haven't used…

Is it possible to link the '7' key (used to acknowledge transmissions from RC4) to a key on my CH yoke? I'd be easier then when replying back to the (RC4) ATC instead of having the keyboard nearby all the time.Reason for my question is that I try to use as many options from add-on hardware (like my VRinsight MCP and my yoke) as possible and thereby becoming more and more keyboardless :(
