The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

For Fly!2, I know that there are five default scenery areas that include buildings and what not. There is Dallas, TX - Chicago, IL - San Francisco, CA - Los Angeles - CA, and New York City, NY. Right?Well, not to long after buying Fly!2 I noticed a file about Paris, France, so I started up Fly!2 and went to Paris, and amazingly the city of Paris existed in Fly!2. My question is this, What other scenery areas are included in Fly!2?Please let me know.Lvstudentpilot

G'day all,I'm having no luck planting trees using terramodels.I select the tree icon.then define the area with a polygonCheck the type of tree I want ( plains )Then click "generate". The message "object generated" flashes up in a window.I then click "place" and the message "project saved" flashes up BUT:on running Fly! II I have no trees. The project file has a rectangle saved for the area I want the trees.I have the same problem with trying to build a housing estate as well.Hangars, airport signs and car parks are a breeze and I've seen such good wraps for Terramodels that it is almost certainly finger problems at my end so if anyone could please advise me what I'm doin…

Hi!! I've been getting a WINRUN.CPP error everytime I start using Fly! Before it was at startup but I found out that by removing the default.key file from the system folder fixed it. Now, I'm having a different problem. The program doesn't crash until I actually takeoff and fly for a while. I've been trying to fly from Panama to Miami on the PMDG 757 but everytime I'm almost reaching cruise altitude, Fly! 2 sends me this error! I don't know what to do, if to reinstall everything again or what. What can I do?? Has anyone of you experienced something similar? It's really stressing cause I can't fly anywhere for more than a half hour without having Fly! 2 crash. Please help :…

Last week I bought a new 19 inch monitor and would like to increase Fly! 2's video resolution. Until now, I have been flying at 1024x768. Is there a way to increase the resolution to 1280x1024? If yes, how do I do that? The selection from the main screen at start up only goes up to 1024x768. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I made sort of an interesting discovery today. Since I have been doing a lot of real-world flying lately, I thought it was time to start backing up a lot of my old Fly! stuff on to a CD, so I have the option of taking Fly! (yes, the original) off my computer and then easily installing add-ons later on if I want to put it back on.I had to transfer the files from my laptop to my step-mom's computer, because she has a burner, but she had me do a virus scan on all of the files first. When I scanned the zip files for Ground Control, Sky! SE (1.1 I think it was?) and the Sky! SE Add-On Pack, viruses turned up!The virus, the scanner said, is called W95.Hybis.gen - it was in the …

Hi,I have just uploaded TM scenery for Valkenburg airport, The Netherlands. The package contains airport scenery for EHVB (Valkenburg, the Netherlands), made using static models by TerraModels (Allen Kriesman), TRI, Biber Salsa, Cyril Cousinat and Harald Kraft. The scenery requires Terramodels Texture Pack version 2.1 or greater to be installed in your Fly! IIsceneryshared folder. (Look for tm21tp.zip, which can be found in the Avsim library.) Also required is the installation of Biber Salsa's static model pack biberall.pod and Harald Kraft's glider.pod (biberall.zip and glider.zip can be found in the Avsim library as well). The files biberall.pod and glider.pod should als…

Some of you may remember the difficulties I was having trying to upgrade to a GEForce card from my current TNT2Ultra video card. I had tried three different brands of GEForce cards, and my computer absolutely refused all three of them..... it wouldn't even boot up.Well, I took the darn thing (the computer) into the computer shop the other day. I was told the majority of my computer difficulties stemmed from my McAfee anti-virus software, which they deleted. My machine was scan disked/defragged and checked out. Apparently I should be able to change video cards now, so I went out to buy one.I found a VisionTek geforce2 Ti card w/64mg DDR memory for 100 bucks that I'll t…

... 4440 31 to 40 year old males, on a students income, who arent real pilots, flying FS2K2 for 2 - 5 hours a week, but not on VATSIM or SATCO, and especially not the 'Zone', in "Medium Passenger Jets", "where ever our heart takes us!". We have P3 Equivalent computers, that we spend less than $500 on, with $100-$200 worth of software, that we purachased online. We dont pay for flightsim web access, we love add-on aircraft and the file library, that is part of the Excellent Avsim service. Oh and we want thin crust pizza...I think that this survey is fascinating...BTW it is ONLY a GENERALISATION... http://flytsim.itgo.com/sigi.jpg

I have only just 'upgraded' to a 64M GF2 MX400 from my old 8M card. When I saw the reflections of the clouds on the water I was IMPRESSED.Unfortunately JPG compression was needed which reduced the quality of the reflection.P.S.: I don't want this to turn into a sim comparison. I know the wonderful sights of the other sims , I was just really pleased to see Fly2 'shine'.-Default clouds-RealSkyV3 skies.ini-GF2 MX400 23.11 (it's what came with the card and it works - sorry Lindy :-))

Anyone try Allen's great FlyStart.dll at KSFO? I tried to reposition the aircraft by slewing about 200 feet toward the terminal. I hit "SAVE" using "ALT-S". Next flight, I hit "ALT-L" to load the location and ended up in the water somewhere north of Africa. See flight planner window below...The attached TXT file is actually the "SFO-KSFO.fs" file in my FlyStart directory. FlyStart.dll works great (so far) everywhere else - a terrific add-on.-DK----Fly! If you are located in any of these cities in Scandanavia and would be interested in a possible get together (I have not yet finalized my schedule or commitments), post your interest here please. I will be in Copenhagen on June 28th and 29th, Stockholm on June 30th, departing to Bergen on July 2nd and leaving Bergen for the states on the evening of the 3rd. Again, I have no clue as to my commitments at this time so getting together may turn out to be near impossible, but if the slightest chance exists, I would love to meet some fellow simmers!

Hi all,I have just uploaded fixes for the Australian Airport and Runway databases. Over 75 additional airports have been added (now 332) and there are now over 560 runways to fly to/from around Australia and her Territories. Each runway has been checked for accuracy and updated where required (about 97% of the entries were changed).Runway positions and dimensions, lighting and ancilliary information has all be updated. It has been a mind numbing experience :-zhelp updating them, but very satisfying now it is done *:-* I should have the NAVAID, ILS and WAYPOINT databases uploaded by the end of next week, work permitting. I have currently 120 or so taxiways made - only…

Hallo, I am trying to get Roberto Vigetti's wonderful genova_fly.zip(and for that matter: milano.zip,Lghi_fly.zip) to work. I wonder, if somebody reading this forum succeeded in doing so. My problem is: even when following the detailed readme file and successfully converting jpg to tga, at the end a message tells me "Source image (c:genova_d.tga) not found or incorrect format.I am using Fly II build 230.MfG.
