The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I run Fly!2 in 16 bit for performance reasons only. Is there a way to change the clouds to 16 bit colors so they will look better. I have Photoshop. Also, what's causing this below?

Rich,I've been seeing the EHSI wind indicator showing significantly different winds than what's in the weather overview window. I posted the question in the PMDG forum, and Lefteris tells me that the problem may be Fly! II related. The two variables he cited were:APIGetWindSpeed() andAPIGetWindHeading()What I get is a wind speed that seems to be surface winds rather than for the altitude the plane is flying. The FMC actual winds indication does match the EHSI indication.

Since I consider this group more of a family than strangers to strangers, I hope this question does not come at an inopportune time. So, is there a patch is sight, and if so, what can we expect. As always, you can shoot straight. We can take it.tony

I have had 20 looks so far but not one response. I was hoping someone would recognize this problem (error)or would offer some advice. Since posting the original statments, I have very carefully donwloaded some of the most recent airports Newyork,Newjersy for two and older ones like lake Tahoe and again TRI's HD SFO after deleting the first 7 or 8 I had the problem with. All files requested by the author's of those airports was loaded and placed in the proper folders. I never deleted the required terra scene/texture and terra model files that worked for me in the past before this problem. I still get the same C3D Model: can't load error. There seems to me to be a problem …

Hello, does anyone know if there is a way to start Fly2K (not FlyII) in windowed mode. Basically I would like to start Fly2K to show the flightplan screen in windowed mode as opposed to having to start Fly2K and then hit control-enter everytime to bring it back to windowed mode. Robert

I have the "searchpodfirst=0", terramodels 128. and 256pod., biberall.pod, yet the scenery fails to show up. Any ideas? Yes, these are placed in the scenery folder, and the shared scenery accordingly, just as the instructions ask for. tony

After enjoying Fly! from the its birth, making 50+ tiles with TerraScene when using Fly!2K scenery, and 18+ for Fly!2, I have come to the point that with nothing working right, no answers, I will back up all my work and say BY BY.It all started a few weeks back whwn I started doing water mesh, for witch there is little documentation. The first 10 or so look great, no audio or visual effects, that I understand requires the use of Ground Type Transorm. I was giuven a sugestion of increasing Hard Drive Space, so I managed to remove a few files to get 2.6 GB free afete the data files were written. Then it happend to slice a file the other day it did not pod as it was supposed…

Hallo folksStill working on the repaint of the PA19.The outside is almost finished.Could not resist giving it a special touch inside. The PH-WAP was mostly used for bannertowing by Mastboom Vliegbedrijf. This firm was situated at Rotterdam EHRD.So you`ll find a memo near the left fuel-gauge(tube)It tells the pilot (vlieger)wich banner(sleeptekst)he has to tow.In this case a banner for Pall Mall Export , over the Feijenoord-Stadium.Maybe I am exaggerating ,but I`am totally carried away by this repaint-job.Must be mad ,to make a memo ,filling it in and take a foto ect. ect.I think I am mad , my wife says "you are crazy".What do you think?Groeten vanLeen de JagerEHRD:-mad

Not sure if I should ask this here or on the PMDG Forum. Figured I'll start here.I have been flying the B777 for a few weeks now (yes - I know I'm behind the times) and out of frustration with Fly!2 default ATC trying to land this big bird on tiny runways, I finally installed FlyScripts and C4TO. I followed the directions in both programs. Four out of four tries, C4TO (via FlyScripts) initialized. All four times I got some instructions back and forth with ATC. In all cases, Fly crashed to desktop at some point early on in the flight or on the ground before takeoff. I couldn't determine an exact cause. Once, I was turning onto RWY 5 at LSGG and boom, to desktop. Another ti…

Ever since I downloaded both "Corse 1 and Corse 2", Franbceapt-f2_v24b and Francetaxi-f2_v22, (obtained from the AVSIM library), whenever approaching some French airports, not all, my unit crashes back to the desktop with the following error message: "Can't load texture DATAD00116700B21B5B4.RAW: file not found, file: texture.cpp, line: 1376. I have removed the files and reloaded several time without any luck. Where can I get the missing texture file? How is it loaded? I have downloaded many of the French airports, but can't seem to fly into those airports nor teleport to them. Can anyone help? :-hangCurtis

I have a big and rapidly growing dillema!I am not sure if they are there to begin with but at SFO near the white fuel tanks is an Exon Fuel Truck. The problem is that it appears to be one but is in fact the same model placed over it self about 300 times!!! That gives me a polygon count in excess of 150,000!!!! Most of the time high poly scenery is 30,000, from what I have seen. Then, I tried moving a few of the models 'out' of the main one and when I restarted they too had been placed several hundred times! Is there some way of mass removal? Clicking the object and clicking delete, individually is at the least, tedious.Any help is greatly appreciated.http://flytsim.itgo.c…

Taxiways and runways appear to be right on target, but I went to partk my plane and noted the airport buildings a bit off the tarmac...I have previously downloaded the taxiway and comm updates from SIMVOL. Just checking, perhaps this is intentional.-DK----Fly! II v230Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 512MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v28.83, WinXP Home Edition.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

I followed Allen's advice in a post on this topic, and extracted the NFO files from my PMDG777 package. I renamed the aircraft Make and Model info as explained and then put the edited NFO files in the ...Fly2WORLD directory. When starting FlyStart, the new names were recognized, but not all the aircraft were represented. I extracted all five base liveries from the PMDG777 Pod file, but only the United Airlines (PhotoReal) livery was represented in FlyStart. Other PMDG Add-On liveries did show up.I haven't attempted to extract other NFO files yet. This was my first try but perhaps I've not done something right.....-DK----Fly! Without disrespect to all those wonderful authors and their sceneries( they are all great), I would like to say that the San Diego scenery seems to have just the right amount for no fps drops or stutters. tony

First a question: What is the max size/format for the pic following the upload ?Well, here it is. Should be in the library (Terramodels) by the evening. Mucho work, the old models pods were a wild mix of Editor/TM, and I had to make a MAJOR cleanup. Also removed some bugs, the famous firetruck one of them...This new modelsupdate has much better podding, and now utilizes Biberall.pod. Check the readmes carefully !Better frame rates, more models, custom Tower and taxiway signs. Kristiansand city/harbour have also been updated. I recommend importing Randall`s Nav updates, and try the ILS22 approach over the famous house (which is to be removed soon).I suggest the PMDG 757 fo…

TJ better known for the great work that comes from ROTW is helping RealAir Simulations complete our Seneca five N95D for Fly!2.I think you will agree that his panel and cockpit work is amazing?Hopefully after not too long you will be able to duplicate some of my real world flights in N95D with a flight model from Rob Young which will be pushing the limits of realism within Fly!2Peter

How do you load new airports into InfoMetar? I fly around Perth Western Australia and, although Fly2 has all my local airport, InfoMetar does not recognise my training airfield YPJT (Jandakot), and tells me that it does not exist. Can I simply insert the particulars for this airfield, and if so, how??Ken.:-zhelp
