Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Hi there, these are just some screenshots from my point of view during our session with Wayne "SimPilot", Scott "nycflyer" and me.You can already read all about in Wayne's post..While I was sitting on the ship, Wayne landed at the heliport..Landed at Liberty Island, Scott circling around....Scott flying over helos at VERY low altitude :-).While Wayne was landing on the Intrepid, I landed on the ship right left to it..Close formation flight to DXR (Danbury airport). This COULD be the best pic IF I had closed the chat window :-).Preparing for the "race". Eye to Eye Scott and me....That's all, hope you enjoy and it motivates you to fly with us soon...Regards,Robert:-rotorEDC…

Here are some screenshots from a Fly II multiplayer "flight-seeing" trip around the NYC area today. We had two Bell 407's, flown by me, and Robert "Helibird", and a Cessna flown by Scott "NYCFlyer." We started at NY's La Guardia airport, and headed West to Manhattan. Scott flew over Central Park, as the two copter pilots made a quick stop at the MetroPort 60th Street heliport. Then, we all flew down the East River. After another landing at the Wall Street heliport, all three aircraft headed for the Statue of Liberty. After circling Liberty Island for some photos, the copters make an approved landing, as Scott flies overhead in the 172. Then, everyone heads North, up …

Scott,I want to thank you for the effort you have put into Newark the entire New York area that you have created is fantastic. I have to say the only reason I keep coming back to Fly2 is to fly around the New York area. (I sometimes go over to the dark side and Fly the DreamFleet 737 on FS2002)The frame is great around 25 - 30fps with 4xs antilasing. Is there any chance you could complete Boston (please!!!) I must have flown JFK/LGA/BOS a 100 times. Unfortunaly there is no scenery at Boston. Please keep up the great work and keep FlyII alive. Greetings,I know this is somewhat off topic, but I'm desperate. I got a new Force Feedback II joystick and can't get it going. I have the original Force Feedback and have had no problems. I'm not trying to use both sticks at the same time. The original has the standard gameport connection, the new one has the USB connection. I've been to the Microsoft support site and read the articles that pertain to this issue. The USB ports are configured correctly according to their website. I've also tried several other things they recommended, but had no luck. For whatever reason, the PC won't recognize the joysticks existence, even though on startup it says "new hardware found" an…

Finally finished and uploaded is my repaint of the TBM700 of the French military, specifically the EAAT, l'Escadrille Avions de l'Armee de Terre. I want to thank the special efforts of Rene Binot, Thomas Jullien and Jean Sabatier of ROTW for reworking many files in the TBM700 POD so that this repaint could be rendered as accurately as possible. As a result, included is a gray interior, the ABT-156 ident on the main panel and two military pilots at the controls, per regulations. As most of you know, ROTW's TBM700 is one of the finest single engine aircraft we have seen produced for FLY!II. It was a privilege for me to repaint it and have the "extra mile" support of the…

Hi all,I've uploaded version 1.1 of Advanced Checklist. I have provided support for multiple checklist files, as well as fault tolerance to XML errors (although bad files will be unusable, they won't cause Fly! II to fall over either). I do have a request. I am presently typing in the checklists for the PMDG 757 and PMDG 777, since I have them. If there are any pilots out there who have the checklists for the Pilatus, Hawker, Malibu, B200, etc., I would be monumentally greatful if you could find a way to get a copy of them to me (via FAX, or e-mail, or whatever). I would like to get checklists for all of the default planes constructed and made available to the Fly! commun…
