The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

What is this thing? It just started popping up when I press F12, which, until this morning, was mapped to be the transmit key for Roger Wilco. After 2 CTDs that I suspect may be related to this funky window...I remapped, but I'd like to know so I can go back to the way I had it.Any assistance would be appreciated!

Does anydody know if it's OK to do this?Is it just a straight replacement of a file or are there other implications?Probably noone else has tried this; but it doesn't hurt to ask. :-)ThanksBen

..... with a newly reformatted C:drive, a new MB and a new GEForce 2 Ti 64 mg video card. Of course, now comes the tedious task of reinstalling all my software. Thankfully I have most of my Fly!2 downloads stored on my D: drive (which was not reformatted) so I should have most of what I need. But please refresh my memory as to what order I should reinstall the updates/patches and such. The computer is currently running DX7.0 and I recall I'll have to upgrade to DX8 at least -- should I bite the bullet and install DX8.1?? I have the individual TRI patches (as opposed to one, all-inclusive patch), the video updates, and the global update.Gosh, then I need to get my ISP s…

I keep getting the problem where even when minimised to the background, keypresses still go to the SB window. So far, the only way I've found to get the keyboard back is to exit from SB and then reconnect. Rather inconvenient.Does anyone know why this happens and can I prevent it?Last night's flight in the 757 from EGPF to BIKF was pretty disasterous. Various exceptions caught in the FMC, the autothrottle locked on Mach hold and was trying to maintain M.81 at 5000ft after my descent :-) and I kept losing the keyboard. Eventually I lost the sim completely while still 20 miles from the airport.Andrew Luck18 miles SW EGSH

Just up-graded my system, and flushed to new Win98 install. Am patched to 230 with no errors. My views are changing on their own. I've seen post about this, and it did it when First installed Fly II awhile ago. I thought one of the patches took care of this and for the life of me can I remember a certain fix. It happens even if I don't associate the camera panning to my hat on my prescion pro. Will be flying and without touching the stick, the view will change..only in the cockpit. I've searched to no avail. Any Ideas??? Bad patch file??I did the usual delete .hst, .ini

After installing FLYII on my laptop, it occurred to me that it's been a while since I have seen ANY AI aircraft. Is there not a fly.ini entry to select the number of active AI aircraft? Or am I thinking of FLY2K? Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide!73'sN8TGC

Just got a copy of Fly2K at a local store, which is a jewel case version one (1) disk. It did install but the graphics are very poor, Can someone using Fly2K please let me know what patches and if any other files I need to download to get it running smoothly. I have Fly2 running and just want to get back to some of the great aircraft and scenery Fly2K has to offer. If anyone has a copy of Longbow 2 they want to get rid of let me know please.ThanksPhil

Hi everyone,I love the 707 (used to work on them) and so I am looking for REAL JT3D sounds. I do have startup and shutdown sounds but no real JT3D sounds from idle to take-off power and reverse thrust. All the sounds I have are either synthetically altered and/or from other engine types like the JT8D. I am looking for the original thing before those wonderful old engines completey disappear. Can anyone help?

If so, you are going to love our new upload system. Now, you have FULL CONTROL over your file desciption, its distrubtion rights, modifications or previous editions, your image uploads, and much more! Now you can present your file the way YOU want it to be presented. No need to rely on the interpretations of library managers or third parties. You get an email confirmation that your upload was successful, a CRC that let's you check file size to confirm your file was successfully sent, and an ID of that file that you can store away for future reference (for instance, if there is a problem with the file, you need to reference it in future uploads, and the like). The best news…

HiIs there anyone who has FLY!/FLY!2K (or not) who wants a copy of FLY!2 (copy- I mean original copy from store)? You'll just have to pay the postage. I am in the Vancouver B.C. area. If there is more then one person who wants it then we'll have a little competition..maybe ScreenShot competition. It's still in the box.Reply here or e-mail [email protected] careMike

I just wanted to let everyone know that CH has corrected the W2K and XP issues with the Virtual Pilot Pro. All I can say is I almost forgot what it was like to use this yoke to it's fullest capabilities. Not only that, it appears they have improved the calibration utility and now both my yoke and pedals work the way I would expect them to. I was just about ready to throw all of this out the window until this driver came out.

First, I'm a Mac FlyII user in a strange land.I'm trying to install FlyII on a Sony Viao PCV-J120 running Windows 2000 Professional Edition, with 256Mb RAM, 6.7Gb free disk space, and a Radeon 32Mb PCI video card.I restarted before installing and had no other applications running. I launched the installer and everything went fine until it died trying to install the file:d:program filesterminal realityfly!iiaircrafttri3.pod.The progress bar stops at the 19% mark, then after a long wait an error dialog appears saying:Fly!
