Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Yesterday I borrowed a digitalprojector from my job and took it home to see how it would add to the illusion of being "there" using Fly II. So I disconnected my 17" standard monitor and replaced it with the the digitalprojector making a screensize (on the wall in my bedroom !)on app. 35". At this size the instuments(gauges) in the cockpit seemed to be just as big as in real life (did

Hi, Can anyone answer a few questions for me regarding weather?Firstly, If someone is flying from say KJFK to KDEN in a piper navajo (which would take about 8 hours) how would the pilot know what the winds were? Is their an ATCC he can tune in to to get the winds for his region? I assume that you cannot do this in FLY2.a) Can you download real world weather into fly2?:( If not is their a random weather generator?c) If still not, what would the winds be like at 24000ft from KJFK to KDEN, what are the typical values? Thanks for any help!Ric

Hi,At the moment I am thinking about updating my CabinCalls script. One of the things I would like to add are more extensive checklists. Right now these checklists are automatically produced by the script depending on which flight phase you are in. On the ground this is certainly not ideal, since you have to follow certain rules. If you do something different a call might appear at the wrong time. Therefore, I would like to make at least the ground checklists to be heared after a keystroke command. My question now is what you would prefer: Have all the checklists available upon command or have some of them appear automatically like it is done now. The other in-flight anno…

Why is it whenever I contact approach and request to land, I know which runway they will choose. Its always the smallest bloody runway. When your flying a huge 747 or big 777 you dont want to land on a 5000x100 runway do ya?Anyone know if there is anyway to change this, and get ATC to give you more reasonanbly sized runways with things like ILS :( !!Thanks for ur time,Gazz

Hi I just purchased Fly 2K and discovered that it has a different selection of aircraft as compared to Fly II. As a newbie I have a few questions:1. Is Fly II a more recent version of the program?2. Is there a patch available for Fly 2K3. How can I install a Bell 407 helicopter into Fly 2K?4. Which program is considered a better flight sim?5. How do you install third part aircraft into Fly 2K?6. Can you install Fly II aircraft into Fly 2K?7. Is Fly ii program still available for purchase? Thanks in advance for your consideration. I have been an avid Microsoft Flight Simer but Fly has a lot of potential.

Hi, Since I reinstalled fly, all my old problems disappeared. I just had a flight from LSGG to LFPG without fly crashing or anything. Only thing weird that happened with the 737 Easyjet is that on takeoff, after a certain speed the rudder didn't work, and my plane went sideways a little... Besides that this plane is fantastic, any panel in the works??cheers

Scott,I'v just loaded KLGA and KJFK and both are outstanding! I did see one small issue with KLGA. As you can see from the attatched screenie, my B737-500 by Girogio seem's a tad too big for the surrounding sceneary. Is it my particular setup? Otherwise, again, Outstanding!Pete
