The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I noticed during any "autoland" approach with the B777 that the ILS was slightly off center on 16R. I tried again with the FlyHawk and Aurora and confirmed that the beacon projected just a bit to the right of the runway centerline at touchdown, and crossed the rwy about mid-point resulting the the plane coming across the runway from the right to the left. Below are a few pix to illustrate my point...How does one fix this?-DK---David KohlFly! II v230Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v30.82, WinXP Home Edition.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

Good Morning everyone! Here is my problem! Last evening, I upgraded my hard drive to a 120 gig hard drive and unit RAM from 256Mb to 512Mb. My original hard drive (20G) was partitioned into two drives of equal size, C & D. Fly!2 was installed on the "D" drive. I transfered all of my Fly!2 files to what is now a much larger "C" drive. Fly!2 workes fine with one exception. Whenever I attempt to use the DexImport.exe program on any .dex file, I receive the following error:"Unable to open D:Program FilesTerminal RealityFly! IISystemAirport.POD. Error Code 0x3 in D:projectsfly2PodLibMapper file.cpp. line 69".I have deleted and reinstalled DexImport several times on the C-Dr…

My original problem was that after downloading the "France Le Pack 2 Taxiways" and removing the French taxiways from taxiusa.pod, I still had some issues. Some taxiways would be incomplete, or would be at bizzare locations. The ROTW group had a meeting this weekend, and this topic was apparently on their agenda: I received in my inbox a little message which, in short states that there is also a taxiways.pod file in the system folder (apparently only on the usa release, not the europeean one). There are a few French taxiways listed in that pod file also. After cleaning it out, the problem was solved.Just wanted to let everyone know! Thanks ROTW and thanks Yv!

Dear FLY! CommunityLast week I had my PPL Examn. And I past it without strugling ;-) .I thought it would be very difficult to pass. But It was easyer then getting my RPL license or my driving license. (-: So after the examn I finaly got some freetime for myself. Therefor I decided to start going on again with my Piaggio Avanti (with some help from Giorgio). It's nearly finneshed but It needs some textures for the final touch. When I have applyed them I will send it off to the AVsim File Library! I don't know when that should be, But I hope very soon! here's a little preview.Take care! :-waveJarno Deken

Hi everybody,This is to let you know that I have just uploaded a new version of CabinCalls to the library. Expect to find it there sometime on Monday.I would like to thank Hans Hartvelt and Tom Eklund for betatesting my script and for giving useful suggestions for improvement.Changes with respect to previous version (2.2):1. Some calls are now triggered by a keystroke rather than automatically. This gives the pilot better control about when he/she wants to hear the associated checklists or announcements. Many calls still occur automatically. Key strokes: Alt-F5 (starting engines call), Alt-F6 (before take-off checklist), Alt-F7 (cruise level announcement), Alt-F8 (gate ar…

HI all, I'm thinking of buying the 777... But I'm wondering if it will be to complicated for me. First question can the engines be started automatically??? It really looks fantastic and I've been dreaming of it for a long time, but I don't know if I'll have enough time to learn all it's possibilities...Thanks for your responses.Cheers

I had an idea for an aircraft, and I would *think* that it would be minimal work to make it. How about sticking some floats on the default Cessna 172? If someone wanted to get really ambitious, might even attempt a amphib version.. :)Would it be possible to use the floats off of either the Bell or the Stearman and attach them somehow to the Cessna?Who woundn't want another float plane for Fly!II? :)Just a thought.Pieter

I've always wanted to do a repaint using this livery but never found an appropriate vehicle to use. Now thanks to Jean Sabatier I have the perfect airliner to repaint. This is of course a preview of this livery, but Jean has sone such a fine job on this model that painting this bird is a breeze. I have some detail work to perform but this will give you a brief glimpse of Jean's next masterpiece. Rule Britannia!Pete
