Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

OK, this is not super urgent, but I had this problem at least twice and I would like to be sure what's causing it.What happened is this - I started Fly! II and before it was fully loaded I got an error (can't reproduce it now, so I don't remember the EXACT sentence) saying something like "no 64x64 8888 textures allocated in render.ini". And I look up render.ini, and of course both maxTextures64 and maxTextures64_565 are there. Nothing wrong with that.I suspect the memory ran out somehow. Anyway, the error is quite odd and misleading. Has anyone seen this one before? Thanks. :)BTW the Fly! II multiplayer is back up and I AM going to send out info about my planned event aga…

Hi everybody!Have you ever wanted to assign a joystick axis to your airbrake? Well, now you can with Tony's amazing new Mapper.DLL v1.3! It slices! It dices! It'll cause your hard disk to really wierd things! And it'll map your airbrake to that unused Prop or Mixture control when flying the big beasties. I've only tried it on Giorgio's 737, but as long as the flight systems were created normally, the 'abrk' subsystem should be there. Upshot is that it should work on other heavies.Cheers, Tony

Hello again.Almost ready for upload, another repaint(not much differet)of the Black Bell407.This one have electronic HSI and MFD installed.I'm not much into navigation so I don't realy know how to use it.Andsince it don't have an autopilot it might be limited.I got an autopilot to work in a limited way by asigning "invisible" rudders forit, and it felt nice for a while, but in the end like cheating. So it wasdeleted. The instrument lights for the RMI and engine oil press fixed.Adjusted the lightbeam for the landing/search light so it can be seenby the pilot.Should work this time :) if not,pay me a visit whith yourbaseball bat :)Jan

Hi Everyone, Ive attached a couple of pics of Giorgios 737 in BMI livery. This has been quite a complexed livery to do and I've run into one or two problems with texture allocation. The main problem is that I cannot paint the Tail Elevators RED as they should be...... because their textures are shared with other parts of the aircraft. Do you still want me to Upload the Livery to the library. It will basically be the same as in the PICS.Regards John

We had another "accurance" in my family this past Tuesday. A female teenager(no offence to anyone), with no permit and a 16 year old unlicened male went 45 mhp (15 mh speed limit) around a curve (police estimate) within our community and lost control. The small compact rubbed my neighbors car, plowed across the lawns sideways, mowing down a small tree, bouncing off my wife's car, and into our house at the master bed room......my wife was sitting on the bed watching her Phillies baseball. No drugs or alchohol were present. Thank God ...no one was hurt, and the I beam that bent saved further damage to the home and injuries to my wife. I don't think she'll see another permit…
