The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

This is an especially enjoyable destination if you have PMDG's Greek Airport scenery. The approach is the VOR-DME-NDB Rwy 02 into LGSK. Note that you begin the approach at the Skopelos VOR above a nearby island. You then proceed outbound on the 205-deg. radial to the 10.0 DME indicator, then make a right teardrop turn and intercept the 10-deg. bearing to the Skiathos NDB for the final descent. This brings you into the runway at a 30-deg. angle. http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d5bb1fa2d0298d7.gif http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d5bb22b2d765c65.jpg More images on final to Skiathos are posted here on the screenshots forum: http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bi…

Somehow I have gotten this problem: If I start the scenery editor and click the button to add an object, fly dumps. I get no error message, just back at the windows desktop. I have checked the gtfo.txt file and it has no data for today in it. I do have some add ons like biberall but removing them from the data folder doesn't help. Although doing that I get a c++ error. Anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks again for the help.

I don't want to start a my sims beter than yours discussion but when I fly in Fly! II I have to make a lot of corrections and I'm ussually very busy keeping control of the aircraft. When I spend a few seconds admiring the (excellent!) scenery I'm totally off course and disoriented. The other flightsim (FS2K2) is much easier on me. I just find a stable setting and trim the aircraft and its rock solid on its flightpath. The truth must be in the middle I guess. But then again maybe Fly! II doesn't like my USB joystick or maybe there is some setting that can make life a little easier for me.I fly both sims at realistic settings. I tried turning of the turbulence and other extr…

After a long absence (yes I went to the dark side for a while), I am trying to connect Fly!(original fully patched version 87) to VATSIM.In the past I used to fly online with SATCO & SB 2.3Fly!I have SB2.2.2 updated to SB2.3 FLy! The problem seems to be the satco.dll that I place in the Fly! folder. Is there a vatsim.dll for fly!(original)? Do I need to download the fly2! SB version to get it. I want to use Fly! so that I can appreciate the 1-2 Gigabytes of scenery I have downloaded :)Can anyone help?HK

Hi, I have just started using Fly! (actually Fly!2K... my system isn't up to running FlyII). I was very surprised by the oevrall quality of this flight sim. Very impressed. Up to now, I have used only MSFS (using version fs98 now) and tried many of the other flight sims. Fly! is the most impressive yet, compared to MSFS. So, still learning. My latest little problem is starting the engines of the Piper Navajo Chieftain. I used E to learn the sequence. Then I tried manually, but the engines would'nt start. When I look at the top panel during the manuel sequence, the fuel gauges show empty! Even if I fuel up again and try again, the gauges still show empty.(so maybe …

I promised this repaint once Giorgio released his latest version of the 737-500. This is nearly finished, just have to adjust the rudder then I'll post it. The Southwest Airlines Shamu Three is going to take a bit of work to align everything so it'll be a bit longer for that one.Pete

I often go to the EchoFlight website for my approach plates. The problem is that no matter where I look for certain plates, they don't seem to exist anywhere. Let's take Las Vegas for example (LAS). It seems that no matter where I look for approach plates for RNWY 07L or R, it doesn't seem to exist anywhere. Is this because ther ARE no plates for 07? Hard to believe. If this is true, since it is an ILS runway, am I supposed to use it's reciprocal for localizer info & just ignore all glideslope info?. Also, I see a plate labeled "VOR/DME A." What does this correspond to? What does the letter A mean. The runway plate seems to be for RNWY 01 possibly (either L …

Thanks Randall!I successfully added it to the FlyII database, created taxiways, models, and had to reterrascene NYC to flatten it.Lincoln Park, NJThis is a small airpark about 25 miles west of NYC. I did a lot of touch and gos there (still do actually), the runway is 2942x50 with 60 foot trees at the south end. This airport will be added to my NYC aiports collection, which will soon be consolidated into a single pod with scf coverage. It'll be a whopper ... 24+ aiports (not including EWR, JFK, and LGA, they'll remain separated because of their file size.)-----------------------Scott CannizzaroPPASEL-KTEB

I finished Dobersberg Airfield and uploaded it tonight (MEZ !!). Its a beta-version because of a problem i need help to fix.If you teleport your aircraft to Dobersberg it arrives below runway level and crashes. Click "Repair all" to positon the aircraft. If you know how to solve this Problem, please let me know via the AVSIM-Forum.Teleporting by coordinates, using Dobersberg as initial airport in FlyII ore teleport in slew mode and rising the aircraft a little with the "Q"-key works without any problem.enjoyHarald
