| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

I'd like to build some custom terminal objects for my favorite airports around Fly! 2, is there any good resources for building 3D ground objects which you could import into the Fly! 2 Scenery Editor or Terramodels?Thanks,-Matt

A few of us have had a discussion in the development forum about adding more Colorado airports. Wayne Roberts stepped up and volunteered to create the airports we needed. Recently, he's made Granby, Glenwood Springs, Leadville (Lake County), and I believe, Aspen. I think it was great of him to make these for us, so I'd like to publicly thank him here. Thanks Wayne!I'm having a great time with the Colorado airports and I highly encourage everyone to download them. Wayne added a lot of details and made them accurate to the real aiports. Hi Guys....Does anyone happen to know where the EFIS Mode selector switch/button is located on the 737. (the one which changes the displays on the CRT screens)Also on the Glare panel under the IAS display there appears to be a knob with what looks like C/O text next to it. Hello,I've just reinstalled Fly! II and a lot of add-ons in the same time, including Scott Cannizzaro's JFK airport scenery.But I got a problem when I try to load the JFK scenery.I cannot remember all the stuff I installed (moreover I deleted all zip files...) so I can't find the readme which could have saved me (I've already re-read the Scott Cannizzaro's readme....)...Here is the problem :DirectX8 3D Driver error :"Can't select texture DJFK3381.RAW, because you did not allocate any 32x32 8888 textures in render.ini"So now, I know that I must modify render.ini, but what's should I modify exactly ???Can anyone help me, or direct me towards the add-ons which required rende…

Is there a better way to change the length of runways to match airports? I don't have access to exact coordinates for both ends, any suggestions.My project is to change KSJC. A new runway has been opened up and the old one has closed recently and I have airport diagrams ready for new taxiways as soon I get the runway to match.Thanks for any suggestions,-Matt

Which do you people find is more accurate - using Info-Metar for weather downloads, or importing the weather directly into Fly from the Fly server (now that it is working again)? Is there really any difference?Thanks,Chris

Hi,I'm not starting another 'which sim is better debate'.I've always owned several sims simultaneously, and enjoy each one for its unique qualities.I got FS2002, and now I'd like to consider FLY!2. I still have FLY2K on my hard drive, and I love it. Maybe it's time to move up.Two questions about FLY!2:1. Is the ATC the same old Texas drawl with two voices? I know about C4TO already, but just wonder about the out of the box ATC quality.2. Is the scenery accuracy as good as FS2002? By that I'm referring to geographical representation -Coastlines, rivers, roads, inland water bodies- are these VFR quality in FLY!2, or rough approximations.Your comments would be appreciated.E…

When I click on a an object in Fly II Editor like the house. I get the error message 'You are missing the *.mlf file" and the it closes Fly II. What am I doing wrong.

I see there is a return to a older version of windows feature to run apps in. An emulation shell of sort.Any reason not to go from 98SE to XP??
