The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Here's the repaint of the Braathens 737 in their white rudder and national flag livery. I'll pod and post tomorrow. The engine graphic is a perfect match on the port side but is misaligned on the starboard side. This is beyond my control.Pete

When importing weather, do winds aloft aver get imported correctly? Every time I download or import weather, it seems that the winds aloft are the same direction & same speed at EVERY altitude. Is the accuracy of winds aloft something that fly2 is not capable of?ThanksSincely,Chris

RandallI'll need to do some Dex editing to slightly re-position London City for my new scenery so I've had a look at the Rwy 10/28 approaches.City is surround by buildings and therefore has 5.5deg ILS's. These are not currently implemented in Fly!2, the database shows 3deg.I've just changed the 'Glide Slope' settings in the ILS.POD to 5.5 but when I fly the approach I'm still getting a 3deg GS. The GS starts about D6.7 out but it should start at D3.4with the steeper angle. Can you check it and see what I'm doing wrong? Does Fly! support a 5.5deg GS?Docs can be found at http://www.ais.org.uk/uk_aip/aip/pdf/ad/EGLC.htmDaveT

Dear Sirs,I am running the latest version of FLY II with the Radeon 8500. Everything is super! But I'm getting lots of tiny black lines running horizontally across the screen. They transit the screen up and down. It's destroying the picture clarity. However, when I take screen shots to show people they dissappear!!Is it a fault with the monitor? But I've never had it with any other program. Many many thanksPaul

Flying with Fly I often found the need to adjust rudder trim to keep my aircraft in straight and level flight (without using the A/P). Switching between cockpit views is not always manageable when I have to keep my eyes on instruments to cross-check the trim settings and the wings position. (Not to mention the need to release the joystick and operate the trim wheel with mouse!)There is no such thing in the "Controls" menu like Rudder Trim, so I cannot assign it to joystick buttons. Does anybody have any solution????ThanksNight Owl

Cleaning out software cupboard when right at the back covered in dust I found my copy of the Original Fly!. Tried installing it but had no luck> When I pressed the start icon it just came up with an irrecoverable error report. A couple of questions: Will Fly! run under XP? If it can where can I now find the patches that came out for the first release?. I see no sign of them at iflytri - none for Fly 2k2 either for that matter. Do they still exist?Clyde WilliamsLevin NZAthelon 2100+Soltem SL-75DRV4 Mainboard768MB DDR RAMGe 4Ti 4400 128 mb

No, not of the personal type, but of a more "simulated" nature. I recently reformatted my PC and installed WinXP PRO. Not wanting to lose my hours of work with Terrascene and Terramodels, I copied over my data, scenery, art, modules, aircraft, taxiways, and taxiway folder. After getting WinXP installed, then installing Fly!II, addnig the super patch thing, Globalupdate patch, the .230 exe file, Paris, SanFran, NYC, I thought I might just be able to drop my saved "data" directory, "scenery" etc in and have Fly!II just as it was. Well, I was wrong. I knew I was asking a bit much from it. I have all my Terrascene stuff working, but Fly!II no longer likes my Terramodels…

When I (would) start flying with FLY!, it freezes 9 times out of 10, when I press the big red FLY button. I have AMDk-6/233 with 112MB RAM, S3 Trio 3D/2x 8MB Video (PCI) and 3dfx Vodoo II 12MB accelerator card. The M/B is AMptron PM9400. Normally there is a change in screen resolution when it starts up, from 800x600 to 640x480. But in most of the cases it is just an anoying frozen picture of flight planning screen, that can only be eliminated by ctr+alt+del.Anyone any idea?Night Owl

What does it mean when the wind component for a flight is 75mph (headwind)? Is the plane actually flying through 75mph winds? How is the wind component calculated?Sincerely,Chris
