Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

That when I just want to mess around with Fly!II it works beautiful, but when I want to take a serious flight with my VA, it crashes for whatever reason. Anyway, here is my new issue. I installed Squawkbox last night and everything was fine. Fired it up tonight anf I get this error:Stream corrupt. Cannot process next tag line [File]File: Streamio.cppLine: 826I've tried uninstalling SB, same error. It crashes about 1 second after the Fly!II splash screen.Any one know what THIS error is about?TIAPieter

Okay, I'd like to try some proper flight planning. I don't want to make a flight plan in the Fly!II flight planner, only to later find out it takes me straight through restricted air space.Anybody willing to give me some basic info on this, like where to find resources and such? :) Is it possible to use the sectional charts in Fly!II for this purpose, or do you have to actually get physical copies? Things like that.Thanks.John IvanENHD

Im sure I will have the first installment of Heli-Adventures1 complete sometime this week. As no model makers can help me at the moment, because of doing other projects, I have used all existing models, Daves models, Haralds car pod for now. The Heli-Adventures base is at EGNR Hawarden Airport, which also is nearly complete.I have also added parts of the local towns (not exact) were you take part in different tasks. These are simply added to the Data files in Fly II.Watch this spaceSteveMach 2 for fun!My Downloads Are:Liverpool EGGP John Lennon Airport UKhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=17455www.yourspaceormine.comhttp://www.btinternet.com/~stephen_g_b…

Where can I find instructions how to unpod and pod a file? I searched the forum, but could not find it (expected it to find it in the FAQ list). I know it has to do with the File Manager, but then ?I downloaded the airport files of Toussus (France). They come with a new taxiway. To install this taxiway I have to unpod the France taxiway file by ROTW and replace the lfpn.pod file by tlfn.pod file. But how do I do this exactly?

I was just curious how the ATR is coming guys.the screenshots look really great and I do have a couple of questions I would like to ask .1. Will the GPS be the FLY! one or one coded by ROTW2. Will it have ATR sounds? If not there are some great ones on flightsim.com and Iam sure the person would not have any problem letting you use them. Thanks for all your hard work .I really do enjoy all of your work :)PS. Do you have any plans to do any american airports or are you just sticking to French ones ? I actually finished it last night but my ISP had router problems and I was not able to connect to the net. Hi,About a week ago I posted a couple of shots on the screenshot forum of the Maui scenery I've been playing with. I just wanted to point out that what makes it interesting to me at least was that I layered a NASA photo of Maui on top of the TS rendering to get the mountain shadows and details that are otherwise unavailable to TS for Hawaii because of the lack of 7.5 DEMs. Also someone posted a couple of shots of Maui in FS2002 in the same thread which makes for a nice comparison. If interested just search for "Fly two Maui".Don

I would like to get everyones imput on this idea. Would it be possible for everyone to connect to multiplayer everytime you use fly!2? I know some people have limits on data but what about those of us who don't. I have been trying to do this for about a week. The most people I have seen on at the same time was only 3 of us. I think the multiplayer is pretty cool. What are you thoughts on clicking connect before you start your flight. Add it to your checklist. Would love to fly with you guys in here some....

Going through the other forums the other day, looking for some inspiration/tips on making new scenery, and noticed some of the guys have done Helicopter friendly scenery, you know the kind of stuff accidents, taking patients to Hospital, search and rescue - that kind of thing.BANGHeli-Advantures 1 has been concievedIm working on EGNR at the moment and thought I would add new scenery that would make Heli flying that bit more fun/learning what ever. I have done a car crash in town.... well two cars very close to each other... so patients can be airlifted to hospital. Great for testing out your Heli skills. But I need help.1. Other idea's2. Hi EveryoneFor all you guys who helped me get throught the tough time when I had my brain tumor discovered, here is an update!I just returned from the doctor in charge now and he did some tests and he said that it looks like the tumor is gone. All my hormone levels are back to normal now so now I can continue my life like normal. I still have to do a MRI and a blood test to make sure but the future looks good for me! :-)I still will not be able to fly because I have to keep taking medication so now I am going towards a career in 3D design.I really want to thank everybody who responded to me and who helped me get through this with a lot of good advice.THANK YOU!Take car…
