The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hi Folks, I am in need of your help once again. I am flying the Perigrine at 21000ft & on course between KOAK & KLAX. I have just turned left to 116 degrees at Avenal, Vortac 117.10 enroute to Gorman Vortac 116.10 & within 2 minutes I receive the above message & crashed back to desktop. This has happened twice so does not apear to be a one time type error. I have looked through my smf files in models & indeed do not have this model. Can anyone tell me where I can upload this model from, which upload is it in? The only other information on the error is:File SModel.cpp & Line 3701.Thanks once again in advance for all your help.

I'm trying to check whether a Fly!II crash is due to my model or to a problem within Fly!II itself. Could some kind soul try out the following for me: -1. Move all of the aircraft pod files from Fly!'s aircraft directory EXCEPT Flyhawk.pod and accommon.pod to somewhere safe (not under the Fly!II root directory).2. Start Fly!II and set the number of computer controlled aircraft to the max available (Options menu then Scenery, then Computer Controlled Aircraft slider to max).3. Restart Fly!II and switch between CC aircraft by pressing the "V" key. After a few presses I get an "access violation at address 00749D36" message. Can anyone confirm or deny that this problem happens …

Hello all,I thought we would have some fun... So who are interested in doing a Fly!-in next week (Fly! II that is)? Raise your hand please. :)I know a couple of guys who can, so it's up to you now... Flight will probably be on Friday evening starting about 18:00 UTC, or anytime during Saturday /Sunday. This may change, though.I'd like to hear any suggestions about this, as to type of aircraft (I would like to fly a helicopter but then I guess not everybody has dared to learn it yet ;)), flightplan etc. I am open for suggestions. If I do not get any in time I might just set something up though. My site (link below) will contain more information about this soon next week. I …

I have been away for a long while with college courses and just lately that other sim. Now I want to come back. I lost my hard drive, and all my fly stuff. If I start from scratch I'll use the forum stuff I see here. There is one possibility to transfer old files from an unused FLY installation via the LAN. That one was left at 2.0.218 build. What do I do to try to just move that one over and get it up to date? It does have my Pricey 777 and the Wilco 737 on it.Thanks.L Wiley

Has anyone upgraded to DirectX 8.1 yet? If so any problems? Any advantages/performance increases? Thanks for your response!

OK!....heres the deal....Ive attached a pic of a rough paint job on Giorgio's Boeing 737. As you can see with-out a name. What I'd like you to do is come up with a name for an Airline Company (eg Atlantic Airlines). After which I will choose one of your suggested names and create a livery in detail and MARK it with your name.I will then pod it up and send it to the server for you to download and who knows perhaps someone may want to use it as the start of a Virtual Airline.OK!.........Play balllook forward to your suggestionsJohn

Bob, I noticed in another post that you were working on scenery for KDEN and I hope that my posting scenery for that airport will not stop you from continuing with yours. My scenery for Denver is sparse and was done for those Fly people in Colorado who are in a fly club and fly between Granby and Denver.

Do you use the keyboard to control the aircraft? If you do what are the settings in the Aircraft Options menu? No matter what plane I try to fly I cannot control the climb or descent. Using the autopilot I am able to climb or descent, but I want to be able to control the aircraft. The sim has been uninstalled and reinstalled twice this week. The .hst files have been deleted. It is thought I am missing a file. While I have your attention do I need to install the FlyIIfeatureupdate1 and FlyIIfeatureupdate2 files in the Patch library?Any help would be appreciated. Before someone asks, yes I tried the joystick and still had the same problem. No control of the aircraft except tu…

I just did a full autoland with the B777 into KSLC Rwy 16R. I came in just slightly right of the runway and touched down completely off the pavement to the right. I didn't touch the controls (other than to reverse throttle the aircraft) and as I slowed down the runway, the plane crossed it at about mid-point and ended up just off (again off the pavement) to the left of the runway. Seems like the beacon is not quite centered on the pavement. Can someone else try this and confirm? Is there an ILS update I missed somewhere? Didn't see one in the file library.Thanks.-DK----David KohlFly! II v230Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v29.42, WinXP Home Edition.CH Pro…
