The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hi all,I've created and uploaded a DLL that will map the Mixture axes to the PCLS of the Pilatus PC-XII, the Socata TBM 700, the Aurora B200, and the Barracuda B200. This version only supports a static configuration, but will at least, get everyone going. Except a dynamically configurable version in the days...hmmm, err...probably weeks...to come. For now though, enjoy!Cheers, Tony

Hi all!I've uploaded a much improved version 1.1 of the Advanced Logbook. This one is chock full of features including multiple logbook support, better flight recognition, Fly! II internal logbook viewing and more. It slices! It dices! It even makes julienne fries! Well, ok. Maybe not. Anyway, have a go at it, and let me know how it goes. Hopefully, we'll get everyone up and running on it with less bother this time around.Cheers, Tony

I would love to try to factor more realistic winds aloft for my flights since the METAR info does not really account for anything but ground winds.Thanks.Chris Catalano

KFFAFirst Flight Airport, Kill Devil Hill (Kitty Hawk), North Carolina. This was where the Wright Brothers first achieved powered flight. The paved strip was obviously added later. Too bad it's not in the Fly database. I flew in there about a month ago and managed a few photos in the haze. The runway is lined with 40' trees, which makes for a handfull in windy situations. It was docile for me.http://www.nonmusic.com/FlyII/KFFA_final20.jpghttp://www.nonmusic.com/FlyII/circling_monument.jpghttp://www.nonmusic.com/FlyII/nags_head_1000.jpg-----------------------Scott CannizzaroPPASEL-KTEB

I've just done up the olive Soutwest 737. As you can see the rudder texture mapping is the main issue with doing liveries like this. I'll release this as is if anyone wants it.Pete

I did some research on the use of Fly!II. Here are my findings.DownloadsFeature update # 4 is an update that every user needs, whether he has the American version or the European version. The number of downloads of this update is 21.049.So if everybody has updated his sim, there are at least 21.000 people who bought Fly!IIFeature update # 1 was only for the American version (or European downloaders) and the number of downloads of this update is 10.370.Also an update that everybody should need is the update to version 230. However this update was downloaded not more than 7.948 times. Although it is not available for Macs, I cannot imagine that there are so many of them.AVS…

First there was only...runways and one land type. After 4 hours work with Colin`s Terrashape and a CAD program...I had all roads & rail corrected, waters, farmlands and missing cities rendered in. A few Terrascene sessions later I had it almost right. Just a few touchups needed in my paint program, taking 30 minutes now, not a week.Want detailed Euro scenery made quicker ? Use Terrashape and a good map !Pic is Gardermoen (ENGM), Terrashaped & Terrascened with my crude old beta airport scenery :)This Terrascenery is made for Roy`s upcoming Airport scenery.

Flew into LSPM yesterday (Ambri). I love this approach - very difficult. But, I noted that runway lights didn't come on. How does one get the lights on? It made the approach a bit more challenging! Also, as I was parking the plane (see second shot) and "crashed" into an invisible object. Thought I should point that out. How does one correct this?-DK----David KohlFly! II v230Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v29.42, WinXP Home Edition.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.

A technical friend of mine, seeing my "winrun.cpp" errors (I get them just about 1 in every two or three times I fly) suggested that I try running Fly!2 in Windows ME compatibility mode. I tried it tonight using the B777 (PMDG) on a flight between KDEN and KSLC. I also used C4TO.The above "formula" almost always creates a WINRUN.CPP error (flying with the 777, C4TO and scenery with lots of TM's).To my surprise ;) I got no errors - landed without incident! Its too soon for me to tell, but figured I'd pass along the suggestion. Anyone else with these errors - please see a related post] and contribute your suggestions. I'll, of course, keep you all posted as I try this techni…

I've assigned the vertical trim to my steering wheel but the range of movement is somehow restricted from "full down" trim to "neutral" Is there a way to use an analog controller to move the control all the way. Thanks
