The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hi all on the forum !Could please anybody help me with the following : I have installed FlyII on a Compaq Evo P4 with W2000 with an additional Sb Live! card. FlyII is patched to version 230. As joystick I use a CH Flight Sim Yoke PC (not USB) with CH pedals. The joystick/pedals are recognized correctly in Windows and do function normally. In FlyII the joystick is found and appears to work correctly in Options- Axis - Test controls, the axis all appears to be normal. X gives roll, Y pitch, Z axis is throttle and Z rotation are the rudders. All move normally. One swap is marked. Lock controls is marked. However in the Sim itself, no effect whatsoever. The view controls on t…

As I do every now and then, I fired up Fly2 last night for a flight in the Sahara from LAX to SNA. The Sahara/Malibu is certainly a thoroughbred and pleasant to fly although you certainly have to keep on top of her. I find the pitch quite sensitive and difficult to attain/maintain level flight although I believe this is realistic. I find the ADI is a bit small as well which doesn't help.Had one problem, during run up cutting one of the magnetos seems to cause the engine to cut out. Does anyone know if this is a bug or am I doing something wrong? I thought I'd supply a list of the critical issues that prevent me from using Fly more;1) coastline problems. A couple of …

Is there any Cesna 152 for Fly! II? Where can I find it?Thank you,Keyton Cabral

Hi! I was able to modify the FUELTRUCK files to obtain a SHIP that I can use to record paths. I used the default ship included with Fly! II.I'm uploading the .zip file that contains a Microsoft Word file, as we speak. I don't have the .PDF creator installed yet, if somebody can convert it for me, it will be appreciated.Let me know if it works!EDIT: I think I found a "minor" problem. Although it works, it seems that somewhere in the changing of the SMF to the ACM I'm messing something up, because I'm getting a "double" ship. Got to take a look at what the file structure means.SOLVED: For some reason (maybe Rich can explain), the SMF calls for two sides for the H-SHIP model…

After our annual meeting which took place Saturday the 21st at Rennes airport (France), here is a short report of what happened that day and an update on our projects. 10 of the 15 members made it to our annual meeting. The first part of the day was spent hosted by the military pilots who helped us creating the TBM 700 : our friends Nicolas Boltoukhine, Bruno Tresarrieu and Thierry Cosson of the Escadrille Avions de l'Arm

Greetings,It's been a while since I tried Fly 2K and had a question. When I installed it , that version is 1.01.87. The patch I want to install is the 1.01.88 for the user, PC version. I installed it according to the instructions given, but it still shows up as version 1.01.87 under the help screen. What gives? I reinstalled and again, it still shows up as version 1.01.87. Yes, I'm positive I installed it to the same directory as Fly 2K.I searched for someone who had the same problem and couldn't find anything. Ken Salter, can you give me some insight on this? Thank you,Hans Groenewold

I've come across problems updating the country databases. The only way I know of to do the updating, is via FlyEdit. I import the dex. I create a custom index for cnam called CTRYNAME.DBI, and one for cuid called COUNTRY.DBI. All appears to work ok as long as the files remain in Database folder. When I repod via a response file...DatabaseCOUNTRY.DBDDatabaseCOUNTRY.DBIDatabaseCOUNTRY.DBTDatabaseCTRYNAME.DBIDatabaseSTATCTRY.DBIDatabaseSTATE.DBDDatabaseSTATE.DBIDatabaseSTATE.DBTDatabaseSTATNAME.DBII can no longer use the flight planner. It crashes with an error in unknown (if I remember right).Anyone have ideas as to what Im missing? What I could try? Why it would work unpodd…

Anyone know how to, or willing to make a custom model of the famous arch in Saint Louis? It would greatly add to our scenery. I am not sure how to make custom models or I myself would attempt it one day (when I am not making airports for all of you with Terra-models! :-))Chris Catalano

A while back, someone posted an idea concerning "flight route" scenery, where high-detail scenery would be created around airports (dep and arrival) and medium scenery between the two points. Now that dynamic scenery has been solved, I was thinking that we could start with New York, since great scenery has already been added recently. Perhaps we could start "moving" some trucks around JFK?The destination could be Chicago, or somewhere else, perhaps? We could have TS of Chicago area (if we don't already!) and then modeling the airport or moving objects around it would add a lot.Any thoughts?

Hello all :-waveHas anyone got NASA on there list of todo's with models of the area?Very cheaky I know but if its on your list I would love to knowStevie :-bat

There is a tutorial coming soon concerning dynamic scenery. That is a great addition and should be anchored on top of this forum!I was wondering if a tutorial about online flying with Fly2 could be put together as well?I have only flown online twice so far in the last 6 months, and that was with vatsim, roger wilco and squawkbox.Thing is, now I forget how to set them all up!I could give it a try (tutorial) but writting is not my forte, so if anyone wants to give it a go, let us all know!

I have Terrascene data for Ashevelle, NC, which was made w/ a 50 mile radius of airport ( KAVL ).The problem is when I start my flight plan from KATL, Atlanta, I am getting data error crashes. Message says "datad18615374EA9A904.raw can't be found. Why is this causing a error when I am at KATL?When I have my Atlanta Terrascene pod loaded ( in the Scenery folder ), I don't get this error, but later in flight I get another error "datad19615474EAB9B54.raw can't be found".When I delete the Asheville pod, I don't get errors.
