Help with Flying Helicopter

Featured Replies

This is my first time at flying the helicopter and boy do I need HELP!I am using the Wingman Extreme stick and if that is not the correct one then tell me what I should use. I was able to hover and move forward, but after turning the copter upside down I crashed. How should I set the buttons on the stick. I don't want to use the keyboard unless I have to.Any help, and I do mean any help, would be appreciated. A tutorial would be great. Thanks to all who respond.

Hey Eagle, Well, first of all, you'll need a joystick that has a rudder and a precise torque control... I in example have the Topgun afterburner 2. I like it very much, and it is more than abordable... Without a good joy, you'll have a lot of trouble flying the helo...cheers

I have the Extreme and it works fine w/ helo. Set the twist axis ( I believe xy ) to the rudder & the throttle to the collective.

I would be happy to fly with you, and help you get up to speed on the Bell 407. I usually fly copters in Fly2, and am on line most weekends. Scott's NYC, JFK and Logan airport scenery (on AVSIM) will provide numerous helipads to practice with!Look for me on Fly2 multiplayer with my new helo callsign,"Metro 7", as I fly for the virtual airline, Metro Helicopters in NYC.Regards,Wayne

Hi Wayne :-waveI use the Wingman Attack 2.Its good for the Planes but, as you have found, its a fine art with the Helicopter. I have got a reasonable flight after a lot of practice but I too need the right gear. But for now I have settled for a Cd re writer & New 64 meg video card. aaaaaaah its a hard life ;)Stevie :-bat'The best aid to navigation is having been there before' For FREE Website Traffic go here :-eekhttp://www.nomorehits.com/cgi-bin/start.cg...er=steviegeebeehttp://www.btinternet.com/~stephen_g_brown/steve.gif

Thanks Wayne Smith for your kind offer. I need to get the basics down before I will attempt to fly with anyone. Flying helicopters is going to be a long process and one that I must practice, practice and practice some more. I am still flying upside down and into the ground and I expect it is because I have not set the joystick properly.I will certainly keep you in mind and will look for you on the Multiplayer where I am sure I could learn a lot by observing.
