The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hello Fly!ers,When creating with VolNav a flight plan in the USA, you certainly have a problem to identify the airports who only have a FAA code, and whose ICAO code is the generic "KZ".In fact, 3599 airports are concerned... well, were concerned ;-)ROTW is glad to announce that this problem has been solved: just look at this page:http://fly.simvol.org/telechargement_fly2/...sairportsus.phpHappy Fly!ingAzzurro

Doing some HD cleaning I found an old screenie from my Fly!2 Tahoe scenery. I looked at the date, whoah ! Oct 2001 almost 5 years ! 5 years... Went to the library, 1221 downloads. Not bad :-) I switched to the competition long ago (MAAM DC3 drew me there ) so I wonder whether it is still good enough to fly... anybody still flying this scenery ?dominique

Hello, I noticed the spool up times on startup are way too fast for all the jets. N2 zips up to 60%+ before you even move the fuel control switch. Is there a fix for this, or is there a way to limit the max N2 with the fuel control switch in cutoff? Robert Williamson

I have just upgraded to WinXP but cannot get Fly!II to run properly. The image on the screen flickers so rapidly it is impossible to use Fly!. It worked fine with Win98SE. I have an ASUS 9600XT video card and have tried all anti-aliasing settings with no luck. It is an ASUS mother-board with hyperthreading and P-4 cpu. Any ideas as to what might be my problem?

Hi there all,Here a new dll allowing to link (statically or dynamically) Fly! to Google Earth. You can save a point or path while flying with Fly! or even have a sort of moving map if you can get two monitors with your 3d card (for the experts there's also the possibility to have the dll allowing a LAN installation).Don(t be shy ! google earth is really a nice technology and it's very funny having some real sightseeing during the flight ...If you are used to google earth, the installation is really easy and doesn't need any peculiar or technical system or arrangement ... it(s only the matter of copying a folder in fly!http://balloon.flightsims.perso.cegetel.ne...T_FLY_v0.…

Hello,How are you guys/gals doing? I've been banging on my computer hardware this past week and have been thinking about Fly!2 and how large the folder might get, given that I'm a very DEDICATED flight simmer. For example, I don't have my Fly!2K computer on right now so I can't say how big it is exactly, I was very gung ho about the aircraft but installed less scenery because I was very short on RAM. This week however I've doubled my RAM on that 350 mhz comuter to 256 mb's of RAM, it would have been maxed out at 384 mb's of RAM, however I found that one of the sticks was 133 mhz instead of 100 mhz, it will run either pc100 or 133, however I've read not at the same time m…

Hello, in this weekend I had probe with the installation of three 19" LCD screens across a TripleHead2Go Matrox box and I run the Fly2 game to 3072 x 768 pixels and it is magnificent. The unique problem, you see in the photos, are that the instruments panels and inside views appear in the left screen, align to the left side, and if I could move to the center screen it was very wonderful.I probe with Xplane and the 2d panel of this appear right in the center panel. I don't know if Fly2 allows move the instruments panels how a window, because the outside view yes can move how a window. Also I probe with a 15" LCD touch screen for I can touch all the buttons how the real airpl…

I've just acquired a copy of Fly! II and have had two failed attempts to download the patches linked to by Mr Salter ('Page not available'). Not sure if this is site traffic or something else.In the meantime....1. Does anybody know if the full Fly! II manual is available anywhere on the Net other than 'fileplanet' (where I understand you have to take out a subscription to download it)?2. Can anyone enlighten me on the contents of the 'map packs', which are just anonymously described as 1-30 on all the download sites I have looked at?

Does anyone know if it is an easy thing to substitute the attitude indicator in the Sahara with the one that comes with the Skyhawk? And if this is done, will the auto-pilot flight director indicators still function? The indicator on the Sahara has no lubber lines, whereas the Skyhawk does, which makes instrument flying much easier and more pleasant. It would also be great if the display could be made a bit larger!I still prefer FlyII to MS2004! If FlyLegacy can update FlyII that would be terrific !!

Sorry for the LONG post....I have been using Fly since it's firts version. From time to time I divert to MSFS or even X-Plane and Flight Unlimited, while I keep using ELITE v8 for serious IFR training, yet, to really be honest, Fly, and particularly Fly2 gathers the most interesting/extensive/important set of features of all the PC-based simulators I have used. There are aspects unique to Fly!2. I agree that sometimes they're not modelled accurately, but they are there, and I suppose that tallented programmers like those who integrate the Legacy team may get it working even better!Since there are allways long periods of time without using it I sometimes forget about import…

Hi ther all,Do you know vasFMC ?(avsim news archive june 14 2006 to june 2006)"VAS Project Announces vasFMC v1.10"I tried it with FS and I asked myself why just FS or x-plane users were so luky to use it ? The response was in a simple Fly! dll !I'm finishing it and you'd be allowed to use the x-plane version of the vasFMC free program with your favorite Fly! ... if you're luky enough to have also a second computer to run the vasFMC application 'cos Fly!, differently from FS or x-plane can't diplay the FMC window above the Fly! session ... sigh !Cheers, laurentC (rotw)
