The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hey guys,Would you good folks please help me get Volnav working? I have installed it according to instructions. When I open it, I get an error. It is in French but it says "Errur de verification d'etendue". What is etendue? I click ok and get an access violation for 0043BA43 and Volnav.exe violation for FFFFFFF.I opened the nav.ini and noticed the directory was not where my FLYII directory is located. It was C:Terminal RealityFly! II. I corrected it to C:Program FilesTerminal RealityFly! II. It still gives me access violations...Are there some files that did not come with Volnav 1.5 that have to be somewhere? Will Volnav 1.5 work with WIN98SE?Thanks,Earl

I have just uploaded new version of my ATCsynth with virtual trafic (and new VolNav)!VFR traffic at the moment but I work for IFR departure and arrival. You need also new version of VolNav 1.50 to create path. Some of them are already created in France. Please read ROTW_AIRPORT.pdf in ..FlyIIhowtoATCsynth after installtion ATCsynth is know more realistic and I add many functionality like vector radar in IFR, best control of transponder use. You can know use either COM1 or COM2.Flght plans are used when landing on an airport or when tranist over. And many others! Hi Didier,I saw the notice that ATC Synth needs version 1.5 of Volnav to work but I only want the latest Volnav. Do I have to have ATC Synth? The reason I'nm asking is, I have the old version of C4TO and don't want to risk a problem with it. It works just fine. But the very first command is alt+F12 which is the same as ATCSynth so I won't be using ATCSynth. So, do I get Volnav V1.2 or 1.5? Or is there another one I didn't see? Thanks guys.Earl

I tried to follow the manual section which introduces the Sahara. During startup checks, when I switched either magneto off the engine died. Am I doing it wrong or is this another Fly! II bug?

After setting up a flight plan in VolNav and starting up Fly II (at a different airport then where the flightplan starts)the airport is not seen, but runways are. Can anyone help with this? Thank You Bob D.

Hi Giorgio! I found some nice interior views for the Cessna Citation X, and was wondering if you were looking at doing anything else with the model you posted back in 2002? Mainly need the panel main view, right front view, gauges, good sound package and proper flight dynamics tweaking. I can probably hunt down a good sound package for freeware use.If using default gauges, I can do the vast majority of the gauge alignment for the pnl; the ckl, and elt files. Would just need proper pbm/pbg files for panel for custom gauges, if any. Main 3D graphics, well... I have tried and tried, but no luck on being able to learn 3DS Max or Truespace... :-( Once Steve and I have the Se…

Hi guys.As you probably know I am doing a DC3 repaint and I have the intention to make it a little special.I do not think this has been done before. In this repaint, wich is in this case more an inside than an outside-job, in want to add several cabin and cockpitviews. It seems a nice idea to me to have all my FLYII! friends seated in the cabin. There are fourteen seats available , at his moment there are five guys seated in the cabin and cockpit.Ren

Greetings to all,How would one go about adding a new airport in Fly! II? As some of you may know, Kobe Airport in Japan opened a few days ago on reclaimed land like Kansai airport. I would love to create this airport, but as it isn't in the database I would have to add it. How is this done?Any response would be appreciated.Danny H. Masson

After reinstalling this great sim I rushed getting InfoMETAR. I am using it to set the weather, but it only affects surface weather - winds at all above levels remain equal...Is there any utility that enables automatic setting of RW winds aloft, like ActiveSky does for MSFS?

Hello everyone,It's been quite a while since I last posted here. Yesterday I wanted to pod all my taxiways that I made with Taxiway creator but haven't had much luck in seeing them in the sim after podding them. Here's what I did:1. Created a response file named taxirjdc.txt and saved it in Fly!'s root directory. The content of the response file was as follows:datarjdc.bgrdatarjdc.tmsThe two above named files are of course in the data folder.2. Started Fly! II while holding down the CTRL key until the File Manager opened. Clicked the File Manager button. Chose 4: Build a .POD from a response file.--Entered the filename: taxirjdc.txt --Clicked POD filename, then OK--Entere…

I am back to Fly!2 after a loooong while away from this great sim.I recall that one of the issues that made me leave about 2 years ago was the poor PC I then had. Things have changed, and Fly!2 flies... in my new (not top-notch) machine. There has allways been a very special sensation, when I use this sim, of really being there, and one that no other sim replicates as well (with the possible exception of Fligh Unlimited it it wasn't for the rather arcadish panels it comes with...).Well, back to Fly!2, there were allways some aspects of the FM which I found remarkable (still find!), and also a few that disappointed me. One of the major limitations, IMHO comes to torque &…

Howdy all,Saw the post on the front page of the newest Sky Words post and I disagree that VFR in class A is not allowed. Look at the following article...http://www.avweb.com/news/system/182429-1.htmlThis was one of those "pop quiz" questions my CFI laid on me the other day while we were waiting for our time to leave the holding pattern from LUK missed approach. I have to check the FAR/AIM when I get home but there is another FAR directed specifically for VFR flight in Class A being allowed with prior notification/approval that does not pertain to comm failure. If I remember right it was an amendment added that allows non passenger carrying flights to be conducted in C…
