Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Greetings,I've flown about 1,500 hrs on Fly!2K (special note, this is a more advanced special edition of Fly! and is not Fly! II, I haven't gotten Fly II yet), and about 9,000 hrs on MS Flight Sim's, but that whole time on Fly!2K on very long flights also, I could not get the GPS Nav to engage. You know how you select the MFD window by selecting shift + m, and you get a transparent window with all of the local airports around you, and the local traffic, plus you'll also see the flight plan course depicted by a line going out of your departure airport, going into your destination airport or way point, then out again to the next airport or way point. How do you get the GP…

  7. Hi Guys,When I start to roll and reach 40-50 kts the Nose comes up and the NOSEgear wheel parts from the runway, and while still accelerating down the runway it pitches back down,......but dos'nt quite make contact with the runway again.ANY IDEAS??also, when deciding upon a missed approach, I'm aware that a pre determined altitude is normally set into the MOP as part of the approach/landing checklist, But if anyone knows could you please describe to me the actually procedure a pilot goes through,........................Does he fly manually? or Autopilot?..........does he press any buttons?.................Is this all taken care for by the FMS?.......what speed is norma…

Computer Pilot Magazine has an online feature depicting shots of MSFS in the form of a monthly calendar wallpaper, the idea occured to me, that at least for a wee while we could post one monthly wallpaper too (with fly! shots of course) perhaps a different author every time, showing our fav spots or else just testing our artistic side.with that short thought left on, I bring u my first try at it, maybe it catches on, or maybe it doesnt, but it will certainly add novelty to the cause ;)PS: Should u want the original 1024 x 768 jpg, drop me a line at [email protected], the file is too large to be posted here.Dan

  10. G'day all,Thanks to invaluable work by Alejandro Amigorena and Laurent Claudet the Otter is now in the Library in both Mac and PC versions. Unfortunately the Mac version isn't amphibious. We need a Mac programmer who can make dll's. The aircraft is ideally suited for flying around the backwoods. I hope it gives some small pleasure to your simming experience.Just remember Blue is for water and green is for land; if you forget you will go whale watching. :-lolCheers,Roger

Harald,I first downloaded LOAN / LOAN 1.1 which is excellent, thanks.Have downloaded LOABV1.2 and for some reason can't get the models/buildings to appear and the plane 'runs' along the runway vertically with the nose in the runway if I start at LOAB!I have tried to follow your instructions in the read-me text but get confused at No4. I'm running the FlyII generic textures and am not sure which, if any, of the Loan files should be replaced.Approaching LOAB from LOAN I also get the rays of light error which appear to diverge from a single point. If I knew how to do a screenshot I would show you both problems.:-zhelp

Has anyone heard of a 3D Modeling software called ModelPress by a company called Informative Graphics?I was doing a google search and hit this web site. It says its a truely free 3D Modeling application that allows you to export to 3D Studio file format. I believe there is a file conversion utility for FLY! or FLY! II that takes the 3DS and converts to BIN, SMF, or whatever the format for FLY! was/is. That means that more people can get into modeling aircraft, cars, boats, buildings, etc.I admit that I am clueless when it comes to 3D software and animation, and have no clue whether this software will do 'key frames' or allow for animations that FLY! needs to make Contr…

  22. I typed in Google "fly!2 pmdg download" and got some interesting results. A "shareware" download org offers both packages downloadable for cash. I did not try it since it is only for PC and I am always little careful but I remember some people here looking for these add-ons so badly that I thought I share my information.
