Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Taking a break from updating the 757 I decided to do this JAA 747 in the new livery. This is just the first cut and I'll finish her this weekend.I may decide to change her to a Japan Airlines version instead of the JAA.Pete

Fly users:Looks like due to buying, selling, trading PCs I have lost my FLY programs completely. I'd like to know how to get back up to speed as quick as possible now. Originally I was a BETA tester. I should have the two original FLY II CDs sent out to the beta testers. I have just downloaded the upgrades, now, who can tell me if I can use he BETA CDs to get back up to speed. I never did buy the commerical product. And I want to find out how to get my Boeing 737 from the Netherlands, and my PMDG 777 back on line too. I am sure they must be totally gone.In fact I want my Citabrias, and a lot of others back as well if I can figure this all out.ThanksLowell WileyAerom…

After mastering the dynamic vehicles I have found that the code has changed in the .S01 files and the vehicles stoped moving in Manchester.I was making a dynamic vehicle for Liverpool and flew over to Manchester when I noticed they had all "STOPPED"Any ideas?

Does anyone have any connections with NVidia? Since two Detonator driver revisions back (begining with 40.72 and now again in the 41.09 drivers), airplanes "flicker" with environment lighting turned on. Many of us using the GeForce cards have seen this annoyance. As far as I can tell, it happens consistently on all aircraft when the environment lighting is on, and does not occur when this feature is turned off.I've not had much luck in the past simply writing to Tech Support at NVidia. If anyone has any connections there, perhaps we can inform them of the "bug" and see if they can fix this problem in a future release of the driver software. Alternative suggestions welcome…

It's my hope to not be a pain in this forum.. however, if anyone could possibly help in any of these areas I would greatly appreciate your help and assistance.1) I recently purchased the Fly!2K Jewel Case Edition for PC after having had the full version on my Mac for some time. I was able to transfer over both the 757 and 767 to the PC version and, subsequently, downloaded the appropriate PC updates for each aircraft. I'm having no problems with the 757, however, the A/T for the 767 doesn't seem to want to work. I can now select the speed and the FD button clicks, but nothing happens. I realise that Fly!2k is from quite awhile ago but hopefully someone may have a pos…

Well after trying all day Im still unable to make the little Devils move....BUT!!!The file you sent me I have been able to change the co-ordinates,pause the aircraft, slow it down, and tear off down the runway like a bat out of hell. But as soon as I do it myself,no go.Im almost sure its got something to do with the file in the data folder. The path files are exact, but the co-ordinates.My plight continues.

I have around 40 or 50 planes in my aircraft folder. I only get 19 to show up in AK's flystart utility program, and two of Fly's original aircraft (Sahara and Kodiak) are not among them. I thought that 19 might be the limit so I relocated three from my aircraft folder and then only saw 16 in the flystart utility. I read the readme file and checked the world folder for any *.nfo files. If Allen sees this or anybody else has any experience with this, please let me know. Thanks much in advanceRobert

Give this a try and let me know what you think!I created a minipanel for the Malibu (Sahara). Simply press 'Control I' and you'll display the minipanel. In addition, by turning on the Autopilot (within the main cockpit panel), you can use the heading bug, adjust the OBS, adjust the barometer, adjust the verticle speed and altitude, all from the mini panel! Here's the link: http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DLID=24525

I just answered the survey and viewed the results, and it beat me that so few users prefer Fly! (II) to FS (2002). The numbers doesn't say it all, though. Maybe the border isn't that strict, or maybe you do different kind of flying on both sims? The Fly! community seems very happy and quite active here so I didn't expect FS to be so crouded already. Could you just vaguely describe your opinion (avoiding a flame war :)) about the subject and what kind of flying you use the different sims for. Personally I have to excuse and tell you that I currently do not fly much, as I've been spending lots of time on Linux and other things. However, what I've seen of the different sims m…

I added the runways and frequencies of 6 Austrian Airfields (Hohenems, Krems, Spitzerberg,Voeslau,Zell/See, St. Johann/Tirol) to the FlyII-Databases and flattend the area around them. No taxiways or 3D-objects are included. You need OE-OST-Mesh by Helmut Mayer.I then used FS_IMP to convert the Austrian Airfields for FS2002 (Paysoftware by Stefan Rausch) and I am really impressed. Look at the screenshots.Harald

Greetings!I recently purchased a new PC, and installed Fly! and Fly! 2, after findng on them by chance on the web. (Both "european" versions, but my Mom & Dad are mailing me the U.S. version of Fly! 2K from back home in the "States." Also, purchased & installed FS 2002 after getting a really good deal on it at a USAF base here in the United Kingdom. (I'm retired USAF and can still shop on base.) All three were installed and seem to run without any trouble. Although FS 2002 has a larger variety of aircraft to choose from, I like the "Fly!" series of flight simulators better.I am a brand new to the flightsim community and hope that someone, somewhere can help me…

HiThre are 7 hours and 30 minutes till 2003 and I would like to take some time to wish everyone a very happy new year. Now I'm gonna try to put this year behind me now and try to move on, hopefully 2003 will be better for me. I would also like to say that you guys are a great bunch especialy when I was going through horrible times..even though i'm still going through a horrible time I am doing …
