The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I vividly recall some heated debate on this forum, long months, years (?) ago about the possibility of having full-featured Garmin GNC430/530 flight management units implemented in FLY aircraft. This was also a time when Terrascene was being born and when many folks when brainstorming ways to advance the hobby. Well, with the Garmin the idea was brilliantly simple - get the existing PC-based Garmin trainer (freely downloadable) from Garmin Ltd. and build a wrapper around it so it could work within FLY. There were some obvious technical issues but also any such venture would naturally involve agreements with both Garmin and Jeppesen and those seemed to be the largest obsta…

I've just sent version 2 of the TWA 757-200 repaint of the PMDG 757-200 for Fly! II to the AVSIM server. This update includes cabin, rudder and landing lights. Remove any previous TWA 757-200 repaint before installing this update. TWA Rams is next.Pete

Hello everyone,I had Fly2 patched to 240, no problems whatsoever.I then decided to buy the Decathlon/Citabria from RealAir.Both birds are mighty fine, and fly great. However, upon returning to my Chieftain, the altitude indicator, and EGT needles have changed. The altitude indicator is missing a background on its face, and the EGT needles have moved closer together so that they now overlap.I recall from the Decathlon/Citabria readme that these aircraft borrow some gauges from the Flyhawk.Any thoughts?

Just sent off to the AVSIM server. Just over 3MBs for this download. Remove the previous Northwest 757200 or there may be problems. TWA's next.Pete

Hi everyone, once upon a time (well, maybe a year ago) there was one very nice person out there, who had been so kind to send me an additional DME gauge for the Cessna. I thought it was etremely useful for practicing IFR... To make the story short, I upgraded my computer and lost those files.Unfortunately I can't remember who it was, so I'm asking if someone else has still got them. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,Rodger :)

Hi everybody,FS Import is such a great tool that I import every day a new airport and make the german flightspace as real as it gets. But sometimes fs imported objects were placed on my taxis, runways or under some trees. Marc Stoering wrote in a german flightsim magazin, that you can delete or move these objects. But I can't see the objects in the fly! editor, so how should i move them?Thank you for your help and a happy new year,Frank

Any help would be appreciated. I've been away from FLY for awhile, and have two questions. First, my water textures are very pale and almost white -- anything to be done about this?? Second, other than the patches, what MAJOR add-ons would you suggest?? Finally, a sincere thank you and very best wishes to Richard Harvey -- you are quite a remarkable human being, and as a physician I can tell you that I have profound respect for the way you have presented yourself and your illness on this forum. I wish you the grace you deserve. Greg.

Now I'm cleaning up, but since I edited the tif, the windows aern't transparent anymore, I had that problem once with the Avanti, but never bothered to fix it, I saw that too late. Here is a little shot.Hope you'll like itcheers

I have had these problems (see screenshots) for some time now... I hoped the new patch fixed them, but it didn't. I did a search on this forum for some solutions, but I couldn't find any.Basically there are two different problems. The first is a "sorting" problem: if you look with the Tower camera, the aircraft parts are sorted wrong (I can see the interiors, or the engines on the other side of the fuselage, and such); the other is a problem with fog/visibility: the mountains in the distance have some parts correctlty "fogged", and some parts less fogged... it's an ugly effect.I have already set vertexIndexFormat=0.I have an AthlonXP 1600+, with a GeForce4 MX440, on Win98…
