Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Here's my final 757 repaint preview. I've done this livery on PMDG's 757 for Fly!2K and on Jean Sabatiers 727 for Fly! II. This is the best rendition of this livery that I've done. The engines are too dark as is and will be lightened up a bit. I'am off to finish the America West Nevada and when that's done, I'll finish the Delta Soaring Spirit.Pete

Looking at the PA-19 Supercub from ROTW I realized it looks a lot like the Aviat Husky. The wings are a bit different, but the styling is quite similar. I got out my paintbrush and started working on the "Husky" version of the PA-19...http://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...PA19Husky_D.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...PA19Husky_E.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...PA19Husky_A.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...PA19Husky_B.jpgFor anyone curious, I'm also still working on my Swiss repaint of the Flyhawk. I'm making some changes to the interior before its ready to release. Its a great day for Fly!ing. :)

  12. I flew into KSCH (I think that's the ICAO) - Schenectady County near Albany, NY. It appears the ILS transmitter is a bit off center - looks like a little to the right of the runway. See the two pictures below and the Flight-Director position just prior to landing and then on the runway.I seem to recall that this problem sometimes occurs when a single ILS frequency transmits to both ends of the same runway. According to the Fly!2 database, only Rwy 4 has an ILS transmitter. The opposing end (22) is not listed as having ILS. Either way, I was wondering if someone could post instructions on how to move the ILS transmitter to the correct position. I've not previously done any…

  14. Folks:I went over to the Richard Harvey Scholarship page a few minutes ago and noticed the very small number of contributors listed there. Here is the link: http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtmlI'm sure all of us here could spare $25 this holiday season for a worthy cause - not only to help a student pilot more easily afford to achieve his or her goal, but also in honor of our "Fearless Leader", Richard Harvey.I made a donation by check a few weeks ago (hopefully AVSIM received it since I didn't yet see my name on the list). Nothing that's going to break my bank. It'd be real nice if we can push new funds over the $1000 mark before years-end. And.... its a great ye…

It's been a long time since I've been able to sit down and give everyone an update. This post will give you a skinny on everything going on, and what to expect (or not expect) in the future.First, patches. The beta team has been on and off working on things during the year. Things pretty much stalled out over the summer due to my health (more on this later). There were fixes made to accomodate PMDG aircraft, as well as some other general improvements (things like morse idents and such). But, then we decided to tackle some larger issues: coastline accuracy, and weather. Unfortunately, these have become such large issues they've totally bogged us down and prevented future p…

Hopefully someone can help me with an error that I've never seen before. Recently, I tried switching from the Flyhawk aircraft to the Hawker while inflight and I was prompted with the error message - "guage error".I tried switching aircraft while on the ground and with different aircraft and I'm getting the same error message. Luckily I like to fly the Cessena the most so it's not a huge deal. However, could someone let me know what the minimum aircraft folder requires? I did do some "house cleaning" of my FLY! aircraft file and now I'm wondering if I moved something that I wasn't suppose to.Here's a few pics of some recent flying. . .Thanks,Peter
