The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I don't understand it. I have the pod and the *.sce files in the 'scenery' folder and Biberall as well as the tm128 and 256 in the 'shared" scenery folder. And yes, 'search pod' is at '0'. The other sceneries work fine. Does any else use this scenery?tony

Can FS Imports be setup so that it only converts 3D models and not the ground textures and elevation data within a scenery area? Here is a screenshot of a scenery area called Hudson Valley that adds 3D models and ground textures with elevation data along the Hudson River. The screenshot shows the "battle" going on within the sim between loading default ground textures and the converted ground textures.

Went up about 1:30 this afternoon, beautiful herd of cumulous clouds floating around @ 3100ft. I was at 2500 but still felt close enough to reach out and touch them :) http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/Dcp_0046.jpg This is about 8 miles north of ISZ (Blueash in Cincinnati, Ohio) heading toward MWO (Hook Field in Middletown, Ohio) for some X-wind T&G's. To bad I wasn't on a cross country, that hole just off the wingtip would have been perfect to poke through and get on top for some smoother air.Took this about two weeks ago heading back to ISZ from MWO, was just a bit north of HAO (Hamilton/Fairfield) http://bartsflyplace.tripod.com/middletown_sunset.jpg Down to …

Greetings to all!I just downloaded TerraModels 2.1 (?) and have started trying to use it. I find it would work better for me if I could have some sort of tutorial to view and maybe it would help me figure things out. I see a tutorial for Terra Scene... is this supposed to be the same thing? From the screen shots I've seen it doesn't look the same.I've tried painting planes and can't figure it out -- maybe I'm just too impaatient. I really only want to create one little area -- around the area where I live since it's so beautiful. This, I believe can be done.Is there anyone out there in the Southern California area who would be willing to maybe have a little in-perso…

Hello,I have been flying Fly 2k on my Mac a few years ago. When I upgraded to FlyII, it was impossible to fly on my Mac (slide show -- 5 fps). So I got tired of my Mac and bought a pc. I have been flying X-Plane and Falcon 4.0 for a year now. But I still remember many good flying hours with Fly. So I have been contemplating buying Fly II for my pc and then PMDG's Boeing 777 (I prefer flying heavies).I have read some threads here and understood that Fly II will not continue to be developed, at least not as it looks now.My question to this forum is, Would you recommend me to buy Fly II? Is it worth it? I have a rather powerful pc (Athlon XP1900+, Gforce 3 Ti500, 1 Gb RAM, 6…

Hi, Richard. This is not what the title implies.Rather,it's an attempt to discuss in more detail fly2 scenery and its interaction with HD access and video card and msfs' way of handling scenery. There's no question that fs2002 appears to have a more "elegant" way with which to handle scenery access, which explains its ability to keep fps more stable, that is, to prevent these sudden,(not the 4fps)but minor, drops in fps. I am sure you've had an opportunity to study in great detail msfs, and, while this subject has been discussed in great detail( the render.ini), I still think there's room for input as we try to move this sim forward. HOw Fly handles scenery, I believe, i…

Just finished and sent off to the AVSIM server. A few small graphic glitches are present but cannot be overcome. I hope these will not detract from the overall look of this livery. America West Arizona is nearly done. Still fussing with the Rudder to Fuse art work. I've also done the preliminary work on US Airways, Classic and Modern liveries, American Airlines Retro livery, Eastern Airlines, Avensa, Northwest Orient Classic, Britannia, British Air, America West Modern, and America West Nevada. I've also promised Argentine Airforce and LAPA. I usually jump from one livery to another, depending on my mood at the time. Pete

I'm having a bit of trouble diagnosing the problem that is causing the green square (see top right of screenshot) to appear at LFPO. I have verified that I am using the correct taxiway file that I downloaded with the LFPO package. I even extracted the taxiways from the POD and placed them in my DATA folder.I have many ROTW France airport (and some TerraScene) sceneries installed. Before I begin to roll back my installation, does anyone know how to solve this problem. I have Francetaxi-f2_v23.POD also installed in my TAXIWAYS subdir. Thanks.-DK----David KohlFly! 1) Is it possible to have the runways lights on during day time?2) When approaching an airport, I find myself always too high when too close from the runway. With the Cessna, what would be the right altitude at about 8-10 mn from an airport? This to avoid a dive at the last minute.:-)ThanksRakham
