The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

If you've downloaded the Manchester parts of Paul Brooks' 'UK North West VFR photo scenery then you'll need a chart like the CAA 2171AB '1/2 mil' sheet or the Jeppeson equivalent. However a cheaper alternative is to download from http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/299/Manchester.pdfThis is one of the new 'On Track CAA' pdf's, aimed at stopping VFR pilots from infringing controlled airspace in 'difficult areas'.the document is 13 pages, the first page being a good 'sectional map' of the Manchester/Liverpool TMA's which includes the airfields of Manchester EGCC/Woodford/Barton and Liverpool. The next pages are pictures of the associated 'visual reporting points'. You can ignore print…

Here's a nice package in the MS library for FS Import. It's called IAH2001.zip and it includes nice modeling for both IAH and downtown Houston.

Does anyone know if further development is onging with Squawk Box. I have heard from someone a while ago of a later version in the works. Anyone have any further on this. I guess I'm going to dust SB off and move to that enviroment ver. Tri's Multiplayer server.

I just ask the question because I see several posts unchanged for the answers as well as the views.I have posted a message concerning printing troubles, I opened it several times but the counting stays at 0 and this goes for other messages as well. I have tried with 3 distincts PC today, and I have the same results. Thanks for your kind attention.Rakham

The TWA 757-200 repaint of PMDG's 757-200 for Fly! II is available from the AVSIM server. I didn't have any time last night to work on the TWA St.Louis Rams or Trans World/American Airlines Intrim liveries and didn't want to delay the TWA any longer. The TWA/Rams and TWA/AA liveries will be posted as soon as possible.Pete

Have installed Fly! and Fly! II using Win98 compatibility mode under WindowsXP. Other planes fly normally, but the C172 just won't lift off at normal flying speeds-- get stall warning horn at 70-80 kts, and no movement on vertical speed indicator. Both programs work fine on another cptr under Win98.After the WinXP install, I applied patch (v.1.01.87) to Fly!, and the patch (v.2.10) to Fly!II. (Before the installs, I removed the Fly.ini and Render.ini files from both, pasting them back in after install.)Indications are that I'm getting full power at full throttle.Any ideas? Thanks --Larry H

I did it!Tks Tonyc your info was really useful. I have one week trying to make this work finally is done, although still some problems that maybe can be fix in the future by Padriac, I found some object disappear depend of the view and of 7 scenery that I converted last night only two were really alignment to the taxiway others complete out of area, but no complain at all. Great utility for Fly2.This is what I did. This is only for people who has FS2002 or 2000 installed in their machine.-Just make sure that the add on scenery folder is in the fs2002 or other FS -Add new folder in the Add Scenery folder with the name of the airport. We gonna call this scenery Miamiexampl…

VFR photo scenery of the UK is getting a 'lot of press' over in the 'other sim',with the release of the first amazing 'Visual Flight VFR scenery CD'. However we have some more available for Fly! very soon as I'm uploading Paul Brooks 'UK North West' scenery in 4 parts. There is nothing in my view like navigating your 'GA flight sim aircraft' over the real countryside below. It's why I first fell in love with this sim (thanks Todd Klaus for Terrascene) and now we can have the same in the UK, not just from ,accurately placed textures' but from real photos.Get you 'UK sheet 2171 Northern England' map out and find that elusive 'Manchester Low-Level Corridor' into Manchester Ai…

Hello everybody. Some old files showed up of my Bell407el2.For thoseinterested I uploaded it today. It's a further development of my earlier Bell407 el (electronic displays)This one with working cycliccentering light.Only light up when cyclic stick is in a position farout from center. Also possible to run engine at ground idle(bearly)Thenit's easier to perform autorotations without shutting down the engine. It's not perfect, but IMO better than default. As you can see from pic.the CC light is on during a bank.Should be avoided in real life.Hopefully it works on your PC's too :) Thanks to the ROTW team for thedatafiles needed for the light to work.Jan

I've tried using FS-Import and tried following the steps in the Readme file but I can't generate or convert a single scenery. Perhaps someone can make a step-by step tutorial (with screenshots)for both MSFS & non-MSFS owners. Thanks.chrisrpll
