The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I just reloaded Fly II after putting it on a shelf for a year. I have reloaded all of the patches (2.30exe) but the Flyhawk's directional gyro doesn't work correctly. That is it appears to be indicating backwards. When I highlight the knob it indicates the correct orientation. I did a search but didn't find this issue on this forumAm I missing something? Many thanks,Charles

I am enjoying the new ground scenery of London and several other UK areas. However, since installing the "London Tile", EGLL (default TRI scenery) has disappeared. I tried installing Preson's EGLL (v422) but my machine crawls.Any ideas what is causing this?-DK----David KohlFly! I downloaded Danny Masson's Fly! II Swiss Airports Series and as per instructions downloaded Allen Kriesman's Terramodels Texture Pack v 2.0, unzipped and installed both in the prescribed order. Flying into or out of St Gallen (LSZR)I get this error message: cannot select texture DSZR5699.RAW because you did not allocate any 32x32 8888 tetures in render.ini" and Fly! II shuts down. I noticed in Allen's readme a series of keywords in render.ini but these keywords have no values after the equal sign. Can anyone advise me how to fix the problem? My System:Windows-XPPentium-4 2.53 GHz512 m RAMGEforce 2 Ultra 64mMany thanks in advance.Ernest Waldburger

I called the airport and asked if they would let me in to take a few pictures that I could use for my scenery, but they said that for security reasons they would not allow that. :-(So I had to do the best I could, taking pictures from outside the fence. :-)Roy B. :-waveOslo, Norway

Thanks to Alejandro for uploading Alaska maps. The first one for Anchorage works fine, but the others come up, but only at the 100% level. Changing them to a different level makes them disappear.I noticed in my FlyII book that you were one of the beta tester for fly. Appreciate any help as I,m trying to get Fly up to speed on my computer. Thanks.Richard. (Now that I,m retired I have lots of hours to mess with this stuff)

Well, after a nightmare of a computer crash, and damaging my tiff file, and backup file of the repaint....yes, I had to start all over again. But I think Im back on target, so hopefully you will get a new Heli before the hols.As you can see she is being repainted at my home Airport Hawarden V.2;-)All the best and sorry for the delay.

Preview of my Mexicana 757-230 repaint for Fly! II. I've always wanted to paint this livery and now that I have, I think it could be one of my best efforts. I am trying my hand at adding reflective layers and what you see here is my first true attempt at adding this technique to enhance the fuse. I still have to treat the verticle stab. These screenshots are of the Mexicana without environmental mapping enabled. I still need to refine this a bit but it's heading in the right direction.Pete

Hello all:Whenever I take up the Flyhawk for a spin, I run into a problem when I engage the autopilotafter reaching altitude. Everything works fine, except that I can't keep the wings straight and level. The wings ocillate up and down. I can't seem to correct the action except to take it off of A/P. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? If so, were you successful in eliminating the problem? If so, how? Thanks in advance,Curtis

I'm nearly finished with a new repaint of the Flyhawk. It is a copy of a real livery I ran across of a Swiss aircraft. I just need to make a few adjustments and I'll pod it up to post to AVSIM.http://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...s_repaint_A.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...s_repaint_C.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...s_repaint_G.jpghttp://home.earthlink.net/~finsdad/FlyII/p...s_repaint_F.jpgHope you guys like it. I wanted to get in on the repaint fun again.

What a terrific aircraft. One of these days, it would be wonderful if someone would work on a custom panel (or adapt the DC9-30 Huges Airwest interior) and sounds. But for now, enjoy the exterior.Takeoff is from PSF (Pittsfield Muni) during last Wed's snowstorm (METAR loaded). Landing is at KEWR as the snow ended.....-DK----David KohlFly! These airports actually make me look up the areas in an atlas. I want to visit France!

Hello all:Since downloading Vol!Edit, (last week), I have lost the use of "DexImport". (When I downloaded DexImport orginaly, I inserted it into the tool subfolder for Fly!II). Now, every time I try to import a *.dex file using DexImport, I get the following error message; "Can't open D:sytemsAirport.POD, error code 0x3 in: D;projectfly2PodLibmapped file.cpp, line 69"! At the time I was attempting to import the Airport.dex file found in the root Fly!II folder. I don't understand! I have a "D" drive but it's clean, (nothing is on the drive).I went into the Register, did a seach for the above paths and found nothing. As i stated before, my "D" drive is clean. I atte…

Hi There,I don't know what you guy's have been doing this weekend. But I was sitting behind my computer making this panel! At least it comes with a nice AP disconnect sound, just like the real thing! It's very hard to tweak the autopilot from the hawker. But I have been able to seperate the switches after a long time (-:Oke it's time to shut down the computer and pick up my social life again. :-badteethCheers Chris W for all your kind answers.......Enjoy! :-wave

After reading the thread: "TRI, for RH sake, let FLY free" I had this thought. I understand the copyright stuff but, what about Tri giving us some info on the multiplayer stuff. Be great if we didn't have to rely on their servers for multiplayer flight. If they are not going to "support" fly anymore, it would be nice if at least this info was published. Who nows when the multiplayer servers will be taken down for good. If we at least had something to work with, we could run our own servers. Seems this would benefit both Tri and the Fly people here. I for one would be willing to devote some hardware to host a fly multiplayer server. Any thoughts? One thing that ma…

I am a fairly recent user of Fly! (Fly!2K), which I use now alongside my old fs98. I am limited in the sims I can use by my system. I find Fly! great in its panel details an nice skies. I recently downloaded Wilco B737-500. The system requirement is Pentium 200Mhz. I run a 200MMX. So, it should be ok. The B737 continuously "porpoises", however, when I use the AP to maintain a given altitude. I figured at first it was my system, but now am not so sure since the plane flies very smoothly in configurations that would seem to require even more computational power, such as AP approach during an ILS landing. There the plane descends very smoothly all the way to touchdown! So wh…

Hi Fly fans. I have watched from a far since Fly first came out. I enjoyed flying the sim a great deal and do so these days with Fly2 but I must confess that I spent most of my time with FS designing planes etc. I spent some time designing for Fly with some promising results. Well now what with one thing or another (long story) I have decided to concentrate on working on Fly2. I have several models that I

Gents-I am happy to announce that I've made the first version of the Aerosoft Australia MCP747 DLL available for general use.PLEASE consider this a first release - it has only been tested by one (very eager) user (Bob Lyddy), whom I thank very much for his patience.Keep in mind, this is an UNSUPPORTED release - this means we will not be providing full support for this product, but chances are that I will respond to queries and questions on it, as time permits. Also, keep in mind that I've only had time to test this with the PMDG 757 for Fly!2 - it may well work with the 777, but I haven't tested that functionality.I want to thank Aerosoft Australia for their gracious donat…

Alejandro, here's the reworked LAPA. I've corrected the spelling on the aircraft name. It actually was spelled correctly but reducing the size of the text created an extra pixel that made the c look like a g. I am using a bigger text size, hope it's not too distracting. Fixed the LAPA name using the artwork you sent as a guide. Change the fuse/engine/rudder grey to green. I think it's close, what do you think? Put the P&W logo on the engines. I do not see the pixel mis-alignment you mentiond in your email, sorry. Corrected the menu name to read Lineas Aereas. Let me know if this passes muster and if it does I'll post.
