Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Does anyone know why we can`t stay connected on the multiplayer for more than 5 minutes? Flying on line with others in Fly I was my favorite hobby. Even though FlyII is a much better version than the original, it is not complete without the multiplayer working. Is there a fix for this? Qdog

It would be great to add some charts, such as our favorite arrival and departure charts, right in FLY2. Does anyone know an easy way. there's a tutorial that shows how to add vfr and ifr charts. It has a broken link and it features vfr and ifr charts, which have lots of coordinates--unlike an approach chart which is relatively a simpler chart. Yet, I don't know what coordinates to enter. Here's the chart. tony

Hi All, I gather support for C4TO is covered here in this forum. I've finally got to install my copy of Fly!II after purchasing an 80Gb hard drive (FS2k2 filled my old 10Gb one). I noticed here in the list of essential software C4TO and installed FlyScripts etc and got it all going. All goes well, with Clearance, Ground, Tower and Departure all passing me round, and ending up with Centre. When I get a suitable distance from my arrival airport (flitting around Alaska at the moment, duplicating the recently completed Pan Americana 2002 fly-in) Centre passes me off to Departure, but I keep getting the message 'Not In Range' in a small box on the bottom left of the scree…

  14. I posted a while ago reporting a problem I had w/ Fly!2 flipping back to the desktop after running it. I originally thought this had to do with a Windows XP utility called StyleXP, but I've since found the solution and thought I'd share it.There is a common problem with running many directx games if you've installed the 2003 versions of some Norton products. I know this happens with Norton Antivirus 2003 and Norton Internet Security 2003. When these are installed, directx games can't get control of the desktop. I found that killing a process called ccapp.exe (a Norton shared components executable) fixed the problem, but then I couldn't access the Internet. The fix is: 1…

Hello,Since I have downloaded this utility, the winter evenings/nights are too short ...I have great fun with this program by converting MSFS sceneries; it is always a surprise what the result is ...I don't have MSFS at all and use a folder c:fsaddon with the necessary sub-folders as described in the readme file with an scenery.cfg created with a text editor.I use an Athlon 1,4 Ghz mP with 196kB RAM mem and a Hercules video card with 32MB mem. What I have observed is that in most of my Belgian sceneries part of the scenery and finally the whole scenery disappears and comebacks slowly constantly when moving around. With fsimpV1.0 the 'rate' of 'refreshings?' is significant l…

Anyone using the new NVidia Detonator drivers? I'm on WinXP Home Edition, using the GF4 Ti4600. I noticed since upgrading the driver last week that my airplanes seem to flicker in all exterior views. Nothing horrific, but visually annoying.Seems to happen on all planes, although I've noticed that this problem happens nearly all the time, but once in a while I'll launch Fly!2 and the planes will look fine. Very odd.-DK----David KohlFly! II v230Dell 8200 P4/1.8G, 1024MB RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti4600 v40.72, WinXP Home Edition.CH Pro Pedals and Yoke USB.
