The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Does the mapper.dll addon work with the hawker? If so I haven't been able to get it to work. I have installed it per the docs with no luck. I have it working on the Pilatus PC-XII and Socata TBM 700. Thanks for any input.

I just discovered that in the FLY2 main folder resides a "control.txt" file that will wnable you to tweak the joystick controls, in particular the throttle( Z axis) so that the "0 throttle" is easier to attain. In doing so, engaging the "reverse" mode is easier: you don't have to shove the throttle against the stop trying to get the perfect 0 before the reverse will engage. Just change the "null zone" number from .050000 to .100000 and it will do the trick for you. I have not played with the other settings, but this clearly made my day.tony

I'm having a troubling problem where after executing Fly!2, the screen goes black and then flips back to the desktop. Fly!2 does not crash or give an error, but when I click on the running process in the taskbar, it goes black and then flips again to the desktop. I can sometimes resolve the problem by rebooting, but not always. It seems to be hit and miss for me when trying to run it. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Here is my configuration:Dell Dimension 8100P4 1.3ghz, 512MB RamgeForce3 ti200 w/ 128 MB RamnVidia 4.72 driversWindows XP Professional patched to SP1Anyone who has had this problem or can share some advice would be greatly appreciated.

h e l l u p ,fly! don't likes me lol!, or my computer or ... don't know I bought the THIRD one yet in a couple of weeks of which two Fly lite versions, one went back to the shop ,the second i have still , and the third version being now the full version from FLY!, gotten via eBay , came wth a beautiful relief print on the box ,was sealed , my expectations were really reasonable high now. This must have success... But a great done relief print can't solve a software loading problem , as I found out ...... when the simulator picks out the places I may fly! He (possible it is a she...) likes Los Angelos or Chicago , he/she hates San Francisco or New York , London an…

Hi!Just wanted to report back on this one. It worked perfectly and here's what I did as well as some pictures.- Went to the taxiways folder- Renamed taxiusa.pod to taxiusa.pud (so that FSI doesn't get "confused" with the current taxiways)- Renamed taxiways.pod to taxiways.pud (ditto, just in case)- Went to SceneryShared and viewed the cities.pod file to see if there was a Scenerya.??? for the tile I was going to be working on (200 157) and there was, so I unpodded it.- Went to the DataD200157 folder and edited the Scenerya.??? file- Left just the first and last lines, wiped out all the rest (so that default models don't interfere with the new scenery)- Make shure that sea…

After Richard's clear explanation of how FLY handles scenery, I took another look at my set and did the following:1. brand new render.ini for my t3200 video card2. check how scenery is loaded as the plane is scrolled around the scenery and its effect on the fps.3. see what effect lowering the High Resoultion and Medium Resolution settings would have on overall fps.Conclusion:1. correct allocation of the 256x tiles is the most important ones.2. the Medium resolution setting is deadly on fps. Here are pictures of these settings and the resulting fps. Let's start this thread. And, by the way, this is the wonderful Poretta.zip file for msfs2002, which is available on Avsim.I…

I cannot seem to figure out what is causing this. When I start at LFPO, all the TerraModels (ROTW's models) appear - airport looks great. But when I fly from another airport (far enough away so that the LFPO models would not have loaded at startup), upon arrival, there are no models whatsoever. I don't know if its related to this greens-square problem (see photo below), but I believe this disappearing models problem and the green square problem both started at about the same time. NOTE: I am using other ROTW airport sceneries. I do not have the ROTW revised generic Europe textures installed. I have a load of other add-ons. Short of starting from scratch, does anyone have …
