Richard Harvey

Lake Tahoe

September, 2002

This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.

At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.

Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"

Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."

We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums!

Hi gang,Would anyone please have any idea what causes the following problem using W2K SP3 : I have patched Fly!II up to patch 218 without any problem. However when I try to move towards patch 230, I get the error 'ISSET_SE caused an access violation in SETUP.EXE at 0x00000021'. The MS Knowledge base has no information on this error message for W2K, for W95/98 it was common whilst using Norton anti virus. I have tried the following : 1. closing all programs on the PC using enditall.exe2. disabling my V shield anti virus and restarting3. unzipping fly2update230.exe and installing from there4. installed InstmiW.exe version 2.0I understand that I am missing out a lot of the g…

I've not posted in this forum for more than a year or so.Just wanted to say thanks to TRI (most especially to RichardHarvey) for introducing me to Flight Sims.Fly!/Fly!2K was the first flight simulator I purchased simplybecause it looked like a product that would provide a verydetailed and rich simulation environment. It did. I was hooked.I continued with the Fly! series through Fly!II, but alas Ifound it to be more of a challenge (on my PC with lower specs)than Fly!2K. Sure, both versions have pros and cons, but theFly! series as a whole is indeed a terrific product.I've since been using FS2K2 and thoroughly enjoying it's nicefeatures (and of course working through the f…

I can't promise if or when I might do a new update of InfoMETAR, but if I get around to it at some point, I'd like to add to my planned features list the addition of another option to the METAR download dialog which would force InfoMETAR to get a specific METAR cycle file, rather than always getting the current one(s).I'd appreciate it if people who are interested in such a feature would chime in to tell me which implementation of this feature they would likely find most useful, selecting from the following:1) selecting a single cycle file absolutely by filename only (UTC hour)2) selecting a single cycle file absolutely by local time (translated to UTC by the program)3) s…

Hello,Well, I got laid off from my job and since I have nothing else to do, I decided to redo Puerto Rico using the great Pascal's tips and Terrascene. I've created "actions" or macros for Photoshop 7 to automate the task a little bit. After some experiments, I took some shots. Which one is better?

Hi all,Again a new member for the fly community. I was reading around already for a longer time, but suddenly my Fly!2 stopped working. This seemed to be a good point to jump in.So here is my question, Since a few days my Fly!2 doesnot come up anymore. It starts up and then it minimizes. I can maximize it, but it minimizes after a second or so,I've reinstalled it a few times, no change. Has anyone on this forum had this porblem, and knows what to do.Cheers ;-)Ben
